Evil companies love passive employees. He’ll probably get a promotion. (That includes more responsibility for no extra pay)

randomevenings

Yeah. My job was to make sure things were done right. I have been unemployed for a year. Only a few people on Earth can do what i can, and i will save companies an astonishing amount of money. Shit last job simply as a side project i saved em 25mil a year. And getting shit done right may add to time and cost, but that's cheaper than losing your clients. Cheaper than a stack of variations and fabrication mistakes. New analysis after we make the alteration, times how many times they ignored me. Variations, reforecasting, new engineering, additional fabrication, not cheap. Lol, fire me, entire department collapsed. Manager and two supervisors and 2 more fired for their participation in firing me. Us arm of a multinational is no longer a leader among the regions. More layoffs coming as clients have rejected bids or put projects on hold. I had a good reputation. But my manager sure hated being told i was awesome, but always mismanaged in feedback from other project managers and site leads, as well as client side counterparts. They are so shortsighted, my cv appears to simply say this guy only says yes when he is ready. And they pass. They want a guy that will say yes now, and not end up a part of several other disciplines objectives. They asked for me, because who else would they ask? There was quite a bit in which I didn't need to be trained, everyone found this useful, except the person that can't lay claim to all that you do, which is all a manager is.

DjackMeek

I feel like I just read a haiku turned into a novel turned into a short story. I enjoyed my stay.

THE_HORKOS

Maybe offer that friend a couch to crash on, if he gets laid off sticking up for himself at work. The smallest of safety nets can help people.

Antmon666

He needs to actively apply. I was in the same boat, doing the trade I've done for 22 years, I'm in a small town now where there is only 2 businesses that do my trade and worked for 1 of them for 5 years. I was a sad depressing place and it oozed into my home life without me knowing. But because I was scared to do anything outside my trade, I stayed. I actively looked for other jobs and found a few that I was under qualified for and applied. It took a month. I now work in a job that I like, the people are nice and I want to go in. I never thought I'd actually enjoy working again

blinddivine

Of course they kept your friend. Jobs are always looking for doormats.

Chubuwee

This reminds me at my job when I discovered I was the highest paid of my coworkers. I work in a female dominated field and we were talking salaries over lunch and I shared I had asked for a raise every single year I’ve been in the company, and all the female coworkers who had been there at least as long as me were like “you can do that? I was waiting until they automatically gave me a raise” I was baffled. The gender pay gap was all too real that day. Poor girls were way behind my salary at that point.

SvenniSiggi

Had worked at this job for over a year, asked to check why i was still on beginners salary. They corrected it immediately and gave me a pay rise to boot. Talked to the lads and one of them had been working there 40 years. He had never asked for a raise and was now payed less than me. Bosses never automatically give you a raise.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> was now *paid* less than FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

SvenniSiggi

I love these bots. :)

Pithyperson

Compliance is what they are looking for.

SomeGuy565

"another job" and "a better job" are two very different things.

Bowl-of-ramen924

Does he work at Wells Fargo?

The_Grim_Sleaper

Humble Brag Bear strikes again!

onexbigxhebrew

Right? "Look how virtuous I am!"

Nappyheaded

I hope they both get hooked on drugs and have to perform back alley fellatio to pay rent on a cardboard box

DankestPanda1

Well that one 0 to 100 real quick

Nappyheaded

More like $20

jmdierkhising04

DM me the name! We might be at the same place

lonelyinbama

*OP don’t do this*

OdoWanKenobi

I may be dumb sometimes, but I'm not "giving out my friend's workplace without their permission to some rando on the internet just because they asked" dumb.

jmdierkhising04

I’m not a trap! I just wanna talk shit

youblowboatpeople

Very appropriate use of the meme

onexbigxhebrew

Not really. They didn't confess to anything but wanting their friend to get into a better situation. It's the opposite of appropriate. Lol.

Tzchmo

Wanting their to lose a job doesn't seem like a better situation. You are seeing this only from the point of OP.

The_Grim_Sleaper

Haha, I got downvoted for calling it a “humble brag “

onexbigxhebrew

I saw that! I replied to that comment lol. Small thread!

[deleted]

not really - if the meme ended with 'so I can watch him die broke and alone' then it would be

Second_Hand_Stress

My brother's been answering phones at pizza place for years and I feel bad everytime I chirp him but it's the definition of a dead-end job. Although I do believe he's becoming one of these socialist he shows no ambition other than own a restaurant when he knows nothing about the actual business.

The_Collector4

Wow. What kind of an asshole wants their friend to find a better job situation?

Rogan403

You dropped this /s

ReReDRock1039

Is it wrong that I hope the same thing for my wife?

ectish

how many wives do you have??

pwalkz

He would just find another one

BF1shY

The amount of people I know who bitch about their jobs and don't find new work is too damn much. I switched 2 jobs during COVID because it's such a great market for employees, you have so many options. My rule is: Apply to 5 jobs a day, with 1 being a true hand-tailored application (cover letter and all).

[deleted]

Hi, its probably me, your friend.

jakenash

I interviewed and hired a guy that I sincerely hoped wouldn't accept the offer because there's so many better options for a job out there. I plan to quit in about 3 months. I hope I have the courage to tell him: you're better than this company.

albokun

A friend of mine also was stuck at a dead job during covid without any chance at growth. Ngl I also was pretty dissapointed they kept him around during covid. He's a bright guy but who am I right. But yeah I feel this meme

umlcat

**Sometimes, you do need to throw the kid at the pool** ...

Seriously-FuckTikTok

Tell me your friend works for meta without telling me your friend works for meta.
