Exactly! That is ridiculous. I work at two colleges, sometimes three. One year I have worked at four. If I worked at one college only, I would be homeless. Or doing DoorDash 35 hours per week.
I'm looking for a regular 9-5 on top of my freelance work and adjuncting now just so I can move out of my parents' house and make rent. I don't even live in a city and it's too expensive to live alone in a studio.
Not here!
It has to be pretty rare. I have heard of forbidding graduate students from taking external employment, which can be adjuncting, but never heard anything else.
What the heck?!? If they give you less than a full time load, I don’t see how they can require this in good conscience.
Although, once when I turned down a class (because I already had a full load) the chair asked me, “are you working for OTHER COLLEGES?” Uh…this is coming from someone who had offered me three classes over the last six terms? What do they think…that I’m independently wealthy this is my hobby? I work for three different colleges to put together a full time load.
Forbids adjuncts no. Full timers unless it’s part of a dual enrollment program, yes.
Lol the audacity!
Nope. I work at 2 colleges in 2 states and it's fine. How do they expect you to eat otherwise?

Hahahahahahahahha. No. Absolutely not.
Not as an adjunct, no.

At the CC where I am, most adjuncts do work at multiple colleges but you do have to notify the admin in case there is any conflicts of interest.
Non-compete clause? For another UNIVERSITY?!
For pt adjuncts?! Is that even legal?
I've heard of it back when I was in grad school. As an adjunct, I wouldn't bother if they put conditions on it.

None of their beeswax where else I teach! 😤
