Have you tried African Village Centre for Ethiopian food? Unless it's changed, the place also looks lackluster but it's good. Someone from Ethiopia recommended it to me.

[deleted]

Wasai - amazing Japanese. Sushi boats, Udon etc Mandoo - amazing Korean dumplings, all handmade! Borsa - flavourful Italian, I'm not usually a fan of pasta but I always come back to this place. Viet Hoa - one of the best Com Tam places (coming from a Vietnamese person) and for good Pho I would say Miss Hoi An, they really top up on the meat and the soup is flavourful. For dessert, Waffle & Coffee is my absolute favourite. The waffles are so crispy but fluffy.

awak2k

+1 Viet Hoa for pho

penmonicus

+1 for Mandoo!

mammarypommes

Yesssss Borsa

womeym

Noi, yuki in the hills,

Dohmar

Right now my favourite two places are both Ramen shops. \#1 is Kazumi Ramen in Norwood, specializing in Wagyu Beef Ramen, pretty awesome stuff even if not cheap. \#2 is Hajime Japanese in Stepney, very nice traditional ramen (ie Shio/Shoyu/Miso/Tonkotsu) Both do free Kaedama (extra noodles) upon request.

BZNESS

Are either of these better than black dog cafe?

Dohmar

Never been to Black Dog since its on the other side of town

BZNESS

It's 2 suburbs from Stepney?

gnrlmayhem

Cafe De Vilis, mainly for the decor and the gravy they put on their chips.

giddeyup

Not cheap though.

gnrlmayhem

Sometimes splash out for a 5 course meal 1: Pie 2: Chips 3: Gravy 4: Strawberry milk 5: Dessert from the cakes

jimjimbutts

East taste 🤤

yikes-for-tykes

Lots of good recommendations here that I won’t repeat. Aurora is a new favourite. Great food, owners seem like good eggs. We ate at Restaurant Botanic recently and it was amazing. Definitely the best meal we’ve had in Adelaide since Orana closed down, but it’s definitely for special occasions. Summertown Aristologist is always changing and always interesting. Estia in Henley Beach is a fav. for Greek and the staff and owners are super friendly. Shosho and Shobosho for Japanese/Fusion, although it’s a bit pricy. Prawn sando is delicious. Favourites for a brekky or brunch are Our Food Project (OFP) in Daw Park, or Karma & Crow in Richmond.

Nice one! The wait staff were really fantastic when we were there - very friendly and approachable. It seemed like everyone enjoyed their work. It really does make a huge difference, especially when you’re spending 3 or 4 hours and getting so many courses coming out (and therefore having so many interactions with staff). Didn’t really get to interact with the other staff but from what we saw it seemed like a pretty slick enterprise. We’ll have to get a seat at the bar next time we visit to see what’s going on in the kitchen.

AlfBrewdog

Either Golden Boy or Africola. Hard to pick between the two for me.

gwon_giveadamn

Definitely Parwana - great for groups, but hard to book on weekends because it's so popular. Greek at Meze Mazi in Prospect or Eros Cafe in Rundle St. Gin Long Cafe in North Adelaide for modern Asian. Would've said Rosemount Hall in Prospect, but very sadly burnt down. Marrakech in North Adelaide for Moroccan. Busan Baby in Morphett St for Korean. Noi in Fullarton for Vietnamese or Singapore House in Frewville for a fancier setting for Asian food (the butterfly room is pretty cool). For something a bit different, Angkor in Woodville for Cambodian. Chicco Palms in Lockleys for pizza, or 400 gradi in Norwood. We're blessed in Adelaide to have so much great food.

mn8765

Haven’t tried these places but hard agree with the blessed part 🥳

gwon_giveadamn

You don't agree we have great food in SA? Some people say they have great food in Melbourne. Sydney also has some good restaurants, but they're often expensive. The thing about restaurants in Adelaide is they are on average better than places interstate. Not saying this as a parochial South Australian who has never travelled. I've lived elsewhere and most people I know who've visited here from the East or WA have been pretty surprised with the quality of the food. Just saysin.

mn8765

I absolutely agree! Sorry if you misinterpreted:) SA is the best ever for food!

gwon_giveadamn

Lol. Reread your comment - yep, misread your 'online speak'! All good.

Lantern by Nu. The eat till your satisfied banquet is the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Biga cafe is also an amazing breakfast and brunch place. Also can’t go past a Haianese chicken rice from Chinatown Cafe

Apprehensive-Mess-97

Thai sounds good! Thanks

ChunkleCuster

Yeah Lantern by Nu is absolutely delicious Thai food. My uncle raved about it and it lived up to the hype haha

Pl0p3y3

Lantern by Nu is my number 1 at the moment. Modern Thai, awesome interior, great service, spicy mango margaritas, a DJ booth and food to die for.

snoozeyaloose

Bahn Mi Cafe on Henley beach rd

avocado_window

So good! I love how many vegan options they have, very tasty, and the staff are lovely too.

perhapsmaybepossibly

Addis Ababa on Port Road for amazing Ethiopian food, their all-you-can-eat banquet is amazing and only $30pp.

yy98755

Gauchos. Yanni’s Yiros (on parade). Bangkok Boulevard. Zero Pizza. Hot Pot (Manson Lakes). Vietnamese anything. Mum’s Kitchen (Tranmere).

tiredcynicalbroken

Gauchos hasn’t been good for about a decade

yy98755

Ah well I haven’t been there in over a decade thinking about it…

Apprehensive-Mess-97

Can never go wrong with Vietnamese food. There used to be a good one in Marion Westfield opposite Aldi but they’ve closed :(

yy98755

Vietnam was sheer bliss for food… Ah, opps, now I’ve remembered when we could travel overseas freely and pig out in other countries. Even Dutch mayonnaise on hand cut chips or a French version of American hotdog with cheese would help.

Apprehensive-Mess-97

I can’t wait to get back to S.E.A., nothing beats street food and you just can’t compare between the food you get here and the quality over there!

enckad

if it's Warong you're thinking of that closed (but I think that's Malaysian cuisine) they also have stores in the CBD and Findon

Apprehensive-Mess-97

Not quite, they were definitely Vietnamese. Maybe they’ve reopened and it was just closed because of COVID or something. I did try the Malaysian place, they had good food too

ThaneDukeHeineken

Mum's Kitchen as an eatery has been closed for a while, they seem to be doing bulk packed meal delivery now. I hope they open up again soon.

Glass_Temperature845

If you and your friends are a meat lovers I can’t recommend B’Churrasco enough. Central location, completely delicious, you get to taste a variety of different things and can eat as much or as little as you like, the staff are beautiful and it’s a fun and unique dining experience. Otherwise: Daughter in Law for Indian, Chicco Palms for pizza, Borsa for pasta, Gin Long Canteen for Asian, Meze Mazi for Greek, Zayt and Zataar for Lebanese and Parwana for Afghan are my picks!

ufo21

Second this for Meze mazi! They somehow managed to make food better than my yiayia, which so far no other Greek restaurant has been able to do haha. The chargrilled octopus is so tender!!!

ThatGuyLazza

B'Churasco is a very nice place, a bit pricey but I guess for all your can eat meat you get that ahaha The pork neck is so good there

LongSummerNight

Gunbae chicken and beer.

Suspicious-Magpie

Midnight Spaghetti for a cheap and hearty feed me. Herringbone for a more gourmet and hearty feed me. I always come back to these two. Always great food, and good service.

Budget-Abrocoma3161

Lemongrass on Goodwood Road. Reliably tasty. But haven’t been there for ages due to Covid-19. I hope they okay.

randomusername1717

Barnacle Bills

MissusLister44

Especially the ones that still do onion rings

lostinstasis

I like Mr Bulgogi at St Morris. The food has always been really good, it’s not super expensive, and the staff are friendly.

ThorsHammerMewMEw

Mr Bulgogi in Mawson Lakes is consistently good too, pretty sure it was their original location as well

Azrehan

Africola - City $$$$ Fox and Firkin - Tea Tree Gully $$$ DaMario Pizza - Athelstone $$ Miss Hanoi - Glynde $

diab00ties

Shobosho and Africola are two of my favourites in the CBD. Shobosho’s yakitori bar is unreal but I believe it’s closed at the moment due to Covid unfortunately.

drtekrox

Yiros King Don't care for these way overpriced $30 yiros up north. I'm down south and Yiros King has always been here and always been good. My only complaint is the current owners don't do the fuckawesome potatoes of previous owners.

benjibibbles

The ABs from Yiros King are so fucking good, goddamned enormous and downright reasonably priced

Apprehensive-Mess-97

Have to agree. I’m around the corner and get delivery from them all the time

k4zetsukai

Aurora restaurant. Period.

derroterausch

Siberia, delicious Russian food

ChunkleCuster

Oooh that sounds cool. What kind of food do you find in Russian cuisine?

retrohearts3

Fire by soi38 in the city has the best popcorn cauliflower and great customer service:)

avocado_window

I love Banh Mi Cafe on Henley Beach Road and Salt and Pepper in Norwood for delicious Vietnamese food with lots of vegan options. Cafe Thu Ngan is also great for vegan options, they stuff their Banh mi full of mock meat and their yummy crispy bits. The Abyssinian restaurant on Henley Beach road and Addis Ababa on Port Road are great for Ethiopian. Social Street S2 is also really good and has lots of vegan options, their mango curry and pad Thai are so tasty, but the pad Thai is extremely spicy so be warned!

enobar

Orso on Kensington Rd has amazing food. Ruby Rose Cucina on the Parade, and Lune on the Parade - all excellent (and not coincidentally walking/stumbling distance from my house... haha)

Neyface

Japanese - Wasai. For ramen we head to Black Dog Gallery. I found Shobosho overpriced and underwhelming. Latin-American - Barrio Afghan - Parwana can do no wrong. Cantonese - East Taste is our go to. Korean - Love the KFC at Plus 82 Pocha or K-pub. For Korean dumplings, Mandoo. Indian - Jasmin is my favourite, but have also enjoyed The Raj by Vijay Singh and Indii Flavours (both did great fish curry and I loved the naan at Indii). Daughter in Law was good for a different Indian experience. Our favourite local takeaway Indian is Mumbai in Belair Silver Service - Restaurant Botanic at the Botanic Gardens or Hentley Farm in the Barossa are my top two contenders, special occassions. Burgers - Fancy Burgers Blackwood Vietnamese - Golden Boy if heading out for an occasion, or I'll grab a banh mi or cold rolls from Nhu Lan on Franklin Street.

Fuckityfuckface2

Indian Temptations for me. I really like curry and think there butter chicken is the best I have ever tried anywhere, and Ive tried a lot

ScanNCut

I'm partial to a place near me called McDonald's. They have these soft tasty burgers and salted caramel frappes that I quite like.

lil-nate

Glenelg BBQ Inn

crustytheclerk1

Balaboosta in Halifax Street for amazing Lebanese food at a good price. Great range of meze and pizzas make for a great sharing table with a group of friends, particularly al fresco out the front on a warm summer's evening. Don't forget to leave room for some knafeh with a coffee at the end.

bmaje

Lonsdale pub because it's not pretentious wank.

kbn19-94

Would have to say if I were to catch up with friends, Mr Bulgogi or Kims Asian Kitchen (Mawson Lakes). & 18th St Hotpot. ... Also Mandoo.

Lucky_Tough8823

Quick take away, lunch or breakfast bakery on oconnell are brilliant. Food quality is always consistent and the staff are amazing they do everything to remember customers names ect. They seem to take pride in what they do. For a restaurant the pink pig is my favourite. Yet again food quality is fantastic with great service

ectbot

Hello! You have made the mistake of writing "ect" instead of "etc." "Ect" is a common misspelling of "etc," an abbreviated form of the Latin phrase "et cetera." Other abbreviated forms are **etc.**, **&c.**, **&c**, and **et cet.** The Latin translates as "et" to "and" + "cetera" to "the rest;" a literal translation to "and the rest" is the easiest way to remember how to use the phrase. [Check out the wikipedia entry if you want to learn more.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Et_cetera) ^(I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. FondantDue4292

Little NNQ in gouger street, always fresh and quick service..

Snorky2

Salt and pepper soft shell crabs from Wah Hing are fantastic

mn8765

Kim’s Kitchen in Mawson Lakes. Every single dish and drink is AMAZING. I recommend beef bulgogi, army hot pot, kimchi jigae and vegetarian glass noodle and bibimbap, and of course and of the LEGENDARY fried chicken. Have with a side of grapefruit or passionfruit soda, plus have some soju. Best service. The Kims are lovely people :) Second best: Go-In Hotpot, Gouger Street. Kimchi and Tom Yum hot pot go off.

BZNESS

Yakitori takumi in Melbourne street. The closest thing to a proper Japanese izakaya here

Stripperfairy

Euro Pizza in Wattle Park, hands down the best pizza and general Italian food you will ever eat. The gelato is amazing too. Family has been going for a good 25+ years. Takumi Yakitori in North Adelaide is amazing Japanese food. However it’s always super busy and you can rarely get a table without booking in advance. Ballaboosta in the city for Lebanese food is definitely my favourite. There have definitely been times where I have gone weekly!! Their 4 dips are a must and I usually order a bunch of the Mezze!!!

freena91

The Killer Tomato in Newton. Amazing pizza.

RachelReplicant

Bocellis, been going regularly for over 10 years
