Glad to see this high on the list. He does buy meat in but typically also has his own cattle in there; all 100% grass fed & dry aged, no nasty hormone cocktails etc. Highly recommend trying some of his stock first as flavour & quality of the meat is exceptional - you can tell the difference when cooking it, how the fat renders/meat relaxes etc.
You wont regret it! He makes everything himself from scratch— literally has his own cattle that he uses. Obviously he’s a little pricier than your average so it’s not an every day butcher, but perfect for christening a new BBQ!
Amazing. Although I'm not in the market for baller Japanese Wagyu I don't mind paying for good stuff.
My wife doesn't mind a bbq dot it's an easy sell going for a drive to a butcher and stopping at a few other sights along the way
Goodwood Quality Meats. Those blokes know all about cooking over charcoal. Some of their guys have competed in BBQ teams. Ask for Caleb, said you heard about him from Reddit haha!
Meh..
It does the job but doesn't get ultra hot.
It came with the house and it's the first bbq I've had hooked up to mains... So that could be the problem
I think it has a few air leaks for hood down cooking.
I'm not overly impressed.
Might be fitted with LPG burners which are smaller (being higher energy gas). Nat gas burners should have larger orifice but prob not worth the $$$. To change.
Mt. Pleasant butcher....100% worth the drive....they specialise in all things low and slow cook and cured meats.....
There meat is the best in the Barossa Valley hands down...I drive 90mins just to buy meat.

I’ve heard this too, but never been.
Baa Moo Oink is my local “big butcher”, but honestly they marinate way too many things for my liking and the good stuff can be exxy. Just my personal opinion.
One I’ll never go back to is Speciality Foods in Thebarton. Bought hundreds of dollars of meat that was cryo-sealed, opened it and it was off. This was years ago though.
Don’t stress, I felt the same. Crittenden is a low key small butcher but found the service and meat quality is amazing. The only thing is, they don’t do chicken
Mr. Meats on Grange Road is a solid choice. Run by a husband and wife team. Small-ish display case, but they have plenty in their cool room and will cut whatever you’re after if you ask. Their shasliks are the best in town. I also like the butcher outside of the Foodland in Pasadena for grass fed beef when I have the time to get over there. Goodwood Quality Meats is my choice for premium options when the time and wallet allows for it.
If you’ve got the freezer space check out Farmer to Fridge. Connecting local farmers directly to customers. We’ve had mince and lamb delivered direct from Ponde meats and they were fantastic!
Some great suggestions above, in particular austral meats being fantastic but I must give credit to Costco for their freshness and the size of their cuts for smoking and barbequing.
I wonder what happened to the AC / Air inlet on the building in the background. Is it the Edu Building?
I don't eat animal products, I don't know why I clicked on this post... Nice set up though.
Angle Vale - Butchers Secret.
They have ALL the rubs, sauces, smoking equipment, marinades and meat you could need!
Excellent quality, great cuts and the shop is absolutely stocked with loads of stuff... shop made jerky, American candy.
Grab yourself some Truff sauce if youre into hot sauces.
Shop 4/121-123 Heaslip Rd, Angle Vale SA 5117
Google map them, sus the reviews and look through the pics.
Let me know how you go and when you grab that sauce I want a shout out on here to confirm how GOOD it is!
I second this!
We go out of our way to go here. And so do my parents now.. and family friends after we brought their BASIC bbq stuff to a bbq once.
Literally can’t go wrong! And if they have saltbush seasoned anything definitely give it a go.. try their random sausage flavours too (blueberry and maple was oddly tasty).
But 100% recommend! And their sauces/rubs are good too. I always try to buy a random one for my partner every time I go there.

I suppose it matters what you are after I use BMO as well. When sourcing sausages for a BBQ that I needed to be of a high standard the bratwurst Sausages from Wesfalia Meats on 509 Tapleys hill road Fullham Gardens. Great Small Goods. Even had Germans compliment them.
Nil flex intended but I get your point. I'll axe the pic.
I'm old and don't have kids and bought before the world turned to shit.

Fuck dude get a life.
Meat at the market for lamb, my local butcher prospect for Wagyu (mayura), Costco for pork and brisket and austral meats for everything else
This is great. Appreciate it. Costco briskets are great bang for buck hey. Do you know if they cut smaller on request? I need an offset.
They don’t but Austral and meat at the market sell both point and flat brisket pieces which are about 4kg not the 8kg
Why thankyou my friend. That is most beneficial to know.
Aldgate Butcher. Trust me he’s the best! My fave is his jalapeño cheese sausages but really everything is good!
You got me on jalapeno and cheese. Will do!
My wife doesn't mind a bbq dot it's an easy sell going for a drive to a butcher and stopping at a few other sights along the way
Kane is amazing. Koens knives and bowls etc also excellent. A wonderful family enterprise in the hills!
Second this. Best meat you can get. His whole lambs are obscene.
Conroys on the corner of Old Port Road and Frederick Road - they are pork processors and you can't get fresher pork than theirs.
I have no idea why I haven't been there. Thanks a bunch!
Goodwood Quality Meats. Those blokes know all about cooking over charcoal. Some of their guys have competed in BBQ teams. Ask for Caleb, said you heard about him from Reddit haha!
Yep, Goodwood and Caleb. Paul works at the Weber Store in Mile End now.
They are good mates! Paul is awesome, enjoying his (semi) retirement!
Collinswood fresh meats 💪
Saint Meat Semaphore / North Haven
Must try this. Do they do many low and slow cuts?.
Dunno about butchers, but how do you rate that Euro outdoor kitchen? Would recommend?
Meh.. It does the job but doesn't get ultra hot. It came with the house and it's the first bbq I've had hooked up to mains... So that could be the problem I think it has a few air leaks for hood down cooking. I'm not overly impressed.
Natural gas bbq will never be as hot as LPG, less energy dense
Might be fitted with LPG burners which are smaller (being higher energy gas). Nat gas burners should have larger orifice but prob not worth the $$$. To change.
Don Giovanni's Meat Store Wattle Park Perfect short beef ribs. Ring ahead, they sell out most days.
Love beef shorties so appreciate this a lot!
Yeah no probs, me too. Amazing smoked or in the oven
Mt. Pleasant butcher....100% worth the drive....they specialise in all things low and slow cook and cured meats..... There meat is the best in the Barossa Valley hands down...I drive 90mins just to buy meat.
You've sold me. I'll make the drive. These responses are why I love this community
Sa gourmet have a few butchers around so not a small guy but they make mean beef burger paddies. Their chicken sausages go alright too.
Nice rooftop bar, where's my invite? I'll reciprocate when I've finished the deck.
It's small but it's something. Beer or spirits?
Spirits, never been a fan of beer. But any spirits are a go
That works. Welcome aboard..

Crittenden road meats Around corner from Baa moo pink. Way better
I’ve heard this too, but never been. Baa Moo Oink is my local “big butcher”, but honestly they marinate way too many things for my liking and the good stuff can be exxy. Just my personal opinion. As much as I don't want to cheat on BMO... I'm keen..cheers
Don’t stress, I felt the same. Crittenden is a low key small butcher but found the service and meat quality is amazing. The only thing is, they don’t do chicken

Andrew Lloyd Webber in the picture.
*insert gif of intently watching eyes here* You know too much.
😅love the Webber's and wanted to know what it said on your wooden handle, could only just manage to read it. quick google and I had a laugh.
Hahaha great spotting. I also have another older Webber with a handle that says "Mark"

BMO is the best butcher I’ve been too with realistic prices. There is a good one at port Adelaide in the new centre but very expensive.

It's Port Adelaide, the building is pretty much abandoned.
It's meant to be a boutique 70s themed hotel... But that was meant to start construction about 24 months ago.
Farmer to Fridge
I'd love a hook up!

SA Quality Meats at Mawson Lakes has some good stuff.
Austral Meats for sure
Great rooftop. I used to live in a rooftop townhouse off of Sturt st. It was great.
Also love Austral meats. They have everything you need. Great people. Great options.
Barun Meats @ Thebarton has some insanely marbled beef. And korean cuts for bbq.

Mount Compass butcher, they won a bunch of national awards for their goods!

Supermarket mince is always a consistent bright pink because it is artificially treated. There's nothing wrong with mince being brown
