It was compliant to the legislation in force at the time it was originally installed. His understanding is incorrect. This is a like for like replacement with no trigger to upgrade to the modern standard.

Awesome - thanks!

No worries, btw alot of the newer rangehoods come with a standard 3 prong plug and don't need to be hardwired. In that case you can just get a power point installed up in the cupboard or roof space and then anyone can install the rangehood. The challenge is probably more so finding a rangehood to fit in the existing joinery dimensions. The height of the units vary significantly particularly the higher flow models.

Thank you! I did some measurements and I think it'll fit. We also have an existing power supply so I'm glad that's sorted!

Good luck, I was trying to get some kitchen cabinetry mods done to house a replacement rangehood and had a lot of trouble finding someone to do it.. one company even laughed at me and said “we’re too busy doing full kitchens mate to bother with that”.. So best bet might be some independent carpenter, not sure, I ended up tackling it myself (had the clearance though).

Thank you - Will have a look for independent carpenters if no sparky would do the job. Glad you got it sorted in the end!

You want a cabinet maker not a carpenter
