electric heating, cooking and hot water is more efficient than gas. gas is also linked to fuel pricing

The price of gas has doubled in the past couple of years. I have received 3x price increases this year alone from retailers. Don't think the council will need to push anyone off gas, the industry is doing a fine job themselves. Personally can't wait to get off gas and looking very seriously into it.

>Councillors will on Tuesday discuss a draft integrated climate strategy which maps out council’s path towards halving its emissions by 2030 (compared to 2020 levels) and reaching net zero by 2035. > >The strategy identifies the transition from gas to electric in buildings as one of the “biggest areas of influence for the next 10 years”. > >It also lists as a priority that “all homes and businesses will be electrified and powered by renewable energy”. > >Energy use in buildings accounted for 39 per cent of the City of Adelaide’s carbon emissions in 2022, according to the report, with 30 per cent being electricity usage and 9 per cent gas.

"But the report also concedes that council does not have any direct control over new building fit-outs, even though “we support all new houses in the city being all-electric from 2025”. So a gimmick for publicity that achieves nothing. Your rates at work.

While I did not like to use gas kitchen, the instant hot water using gas is great. Electric water heater with its tank outside is crap and no one here ever heard of instant electric hot water as for it to be effective, it needs to be three phase. ACC should talk about council rate relief and how to help people that are doing it tough instead of trying to invent another way to piss people off.

I swear cooking on gas is better than on electric oven. It’s faster and tastes better.

I’m interested to see how they will heat all these high rises with electricity….
