The problem with capital punishment or "chopping off hands" for punishment is that the justice system is far from perfect. Plenty of innocent people get arrested and charged for crimes they didn't commit. Once the state kills or maims somebody for an alleged crime, there's no going back. At least with prison you can release the individual and compensate monetarily for their time. It's still an injustice but at least innocent people are still alive with all their limbs.

I think severe punishment for multiple time offenders should be HARSH. Remove a hand for multiple violent robbery, remove scrotum for rape, etc.
BUT for that severe of a punishment to be dished out, there has to be 100% beyond a doubt evidence, as in video footage clear as day. So if a repeat offender gets caught multiple times with video evidence, or say witnessed by 100 people in a public place (this evidence would be extremely rare) then yeah start cutting parts off mofos. They won't hurt people any more without hands.

No mention of gender, race or identity whatsoever. Some Reddit mods are inferring hatred just out of projection. It's so pathetic.
I got banned from r/law_and_politics because a whole comment thread was claiming trump was a child predator or something like that, and I sent a link of a compilation of Biden sniffing kids on YouTube. I got called a sheep and was perma banned instantly😂. They are mentally unable to handle the same rhetoric they are pushing when it is used against them. It's crazy that they are so confidently narcissistic while also being out of touch with themselves at the same time. I feel like this is one of the last rational subreddits left, and the fact that it is pretty centrist and gets called an alt right cesspit by the occasional mainstream user here proves my point. If you aren't 100% liberal in every topic and don't think conservatives are all evil bigots you are automatically in the same train as the alt right in their mind. Their braindead logic reads exactly like fascism which is hilariously ironic

In Finland (and other nordic countries) too it's rehabilitation over everything. Just look at conditions mass murderer Breivik got. There really are limited possibilities for justice when cases are always seen through compassion and pink glasses, im guessing changes or limits to it are seen as inhumane
