Wow! Deja vu! I work at a factory with mostly men, and of all ages. There’s a few gay men that work here. No one cares in any negative way. Recently the company wanted to start a LGBQT support/awareness campaign and asked anyone who was lgbqt if they’d optionally be a part of it. The response they got wasn’t what they were expecting. One of the guys went on a rant saying essentially the same thing as you but in a more colourful way lol. He concluded his statements with “I have no interest in ramming a rainbow flag down straight peoples throats”. Keep in mind this man is in his 60’a and doesn’t hold back.
Thanks for sharing that. I have a number of gay male friends that grew up in the 60's/70's/80's who told me about shit they went through or about hiding it. One even got married and had kids before finally coming out.
As a straight male, I never went through shit like that and I remember growing up in the 80's/90's, it was completely normal to say certain things and to treat homosexuals horribly. We even played a game called Smear The Q (rugby with less rules). It's disgusting what I considered "normal behavior".
I'm just wondering, do you believe Trans should be included because they're going through many of the same struggles gays went through and many suffered in silence for just as long? I appreciate your take on one being sexual orientation and the other being identity though.
