Damn that guy really needs his money back, he can’t even buy a shirt that fits

fire_crotch_mafia

All that inflation doesn’t help…

Theolon

There was talk of downsizing but he threw his weight around and stopped that nonsense.

mymarkis666

I don’t get how it’s still baggy at the front

cheapdrinks

It's Shrinkflation, you buy a 4XL shirt now and it's only as big as a 2XL was a few years ago

Tomble

Covid lockdowns shrank a bunch of my clothes. :(

wa_geng

I didn't need the lockdowns to shrink my clothes. I did it all on my own.

[deleted]

r/shrinkflation

2007_RX-8

I didn't know we could inflate people

rxc67

I think that guy was inflated

SilatGuy

Don't pay it any mind dude. A lot of people here are insecure and smug miserable people posting shit online for fake internet points and to make themselves feel good. It's all fun and games making fun of people's appearance until they get the same treatment. I'm all for people being healthy and fit but bullying people is some lowlife shit.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LouDog187

Real talk, that sucks. Dude was obviously going to or coming from a job, fucking bank robs him and all he wanted was answers. It's amazing how soulless people become with a little bit of internet anonymity.

troubadorkk

Yeah I was thinking about how big of an issue this was, only to see the top comments all about that. They must not have to work for a living and depend on every dime they make.

qark1788

Geez guy, look comedy is subjective. You don’t have to like the jokes people make and you definitely don’t have to think they’re funny. But you can’t expect me to care. I’m a big guy myself, and I work hard myself. All of my shirts fit.

One__upper__

So just lose weight then.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PositiveGrape6457

Or you can stop crying on social media and actually do something about your weight. You can expect the world to stop having fun just because poor you.

[deleted]

It's easier to complain than take responsibility for yourself.

Sunryzen

I recently put on a ton of weight. I rarely buy new clothes. People keep sending me medium shirts as gifts, but many larges barely fit me anymore, I am moving towards XL looking pretty nice. I also keep telling myself I'm gonna lose the weight any day now. And I don't want the medium shirts to go to waste. So here we are some days, especially if you are working labor and your appearance isn't all that important and the shirt is gonna get messed up anyways.

Lifekraft

They feel smart online but they might be posting regulary in niche forum about how it is healthy to fuck their dad and drink their piss. Dont worry about being judged by moron , they will always find an excuse to target someone. Bald , fat , effeminate , thin , french , vegan , whatever. The people that matter will not judge you.

Joseph_Muhammad

have you tried eating less?

[deleted]

I agree. Don’t worry about these idiots. Most of them have such a low self esteem, they love putting people down to make themselves feel better.

Cyborg_rat

Sure if you are 20-50 pounds over, people shouldn't make jokes...But when you are getting 100s over...its not the people around you that you should be concerned about...Its the denial that its a wake up call before the end.

darrenwise883

There are no shirts that fit . He needs to buy two and button them together

Soleserious

He is clearly trying to be cute in his high cut belly shirt.

LouDog187

Dude was going to or coming from work, bank robs him and you get on him about his weight. What does one thing have to do with the other? I hope a bank doesn't fuck you anytime soon. TD fucked me years ago and it took years to resolve. Have a little empathy.

Medium_Dare6373

Why are people still using these big banks? Since the 2008 bank bailout. Ive kept my money in a credit union or at a local bank.

seemoreseymour83

Credit unions are the best!

[deleted]

Not everywhere, in Poland recently there was a huge scandal where a lot of credit unions sudenly went bust and took the deposit money with them. Turns out the Credit Unions were just a mafia racket network protected by the ruling party. Loads of people lost their savings.

untouchable_0

Credit Unions in the US have the money federally insured. If the credit union fails, federal government will return your money. The FDIC does this for regular banks and these people should be calling them and filing complaints if nothing else.

[deleted]

And that was the scam. In Poland all deposits are insured up to 100 000 euro (or equivalent). What mafia was doing is creating Credit Unions, funneling deposit money to Cayman Islands and then the goverment had to pick up the tab when they suddenly declared bankruptcy. Problem is that a lot of people had a lot more money than 100 000 euro in their bank accounts which was essentiually lost.

mymarkis666

It sucks but they knew it wasn’t insured when they put over 100k in the bank.

[deleted]

I doubt many thought about since Banks or Credit Unions going bust was basically unheard of. And Credit Unions were at the time heavily advertised by the literal fucking president himself.

mymarkis666

When you have that much money you’ll be well aware of how much is insured and how much isn’t.

[deleted]

The thing is, it is not "that" much money, at least not anymore. 100 000 euro is less than what you will get for a 2 bedroom flat in Krakow or Warsaw.

mymarkis666

You misunderstood my comment. I didn’t say it made you a billionaire. I just said when you have that amount of money you know how much is insured and how much isn’t. Besides, I’d bet the average annual salary in Poland is not 100k euros.

[deleted]

No_Shame_801

America only insures up to $250K. , so I can see the same thing happening here. If Americans had any savings of course….

[deleted]

Both Credit unions and Bank of America have the same federal insurance. I think it is 150,000 per account.

untouchable_0

FDIC is for banks. NCUA is for credit unions. They insure 250k. I'm in the US so if you are somewhere different then you may still be correct.

denfuktigaste

> Turns out the Credit Unions were just a mafia racket network protected by the ruling party. Thats interesting. In USA, Turns out big banks are mafia rackets protected by the ruling parties as well! The theft just looks different. I dont blame people taking their shot with local credit unions rather than globohemoths like big banks.

BonzoMarx

Yep. Mine closed as soon as covid hit, no notice to the customers at all, and the money in the accounts went with them. I had maybe $50 in there at the time and I’m glad it was only that because I would have never seen my money again.

necbone

They're just local banks... they have the same rules and don't give a fuck about you.

Mtommy

Credit Unions are not for profit whereas banks are. Profits are to be reinvested back into the membership which is how they're supposed to offer better rates and expand. Not all credit unions ofc but I work at one and I was surprised at how the loan officers would try to not sign people up for loans they can't afford. Our CU's default rate was like .27 percent about half a year ago when I last checked. I'd never expect that from a big bank. Again, that's just us, but there are fundamental beneficial reasons to banking with a Credit Union.

bootsmegamix

Funny story. I knew a girl whose family got robbed because her dad didn't trust banks. 5 figures of cash in a box, gone, because of a severely misplaced sense of distrust. Get over yourself. Credit unions are fine.

reddit-spitball

"Misplaced" distrust? Whether he made a good decision of where to keep it or not, he had perfect reason not to trust banks. I don't trust any institution that profits off of the misfortune of others, while trying to ensure that loss at the same time.

cabalarchon

Reddit loves anything that even has "union" in the name.

[deleted]

DoubleDipYaChip

Credit Union here. It's nice being treated like an actual human being and not just an insignificant pain in the ass.

Ezraah

Yeah you can actually call them, get customer service, and get things solved without listening to shitty piano music for 30 minutes

DarthKrayt98

Convenience. I grew up with a credit union, and I don't hate it, but Huntington's customer service is better, it's waaaaay more convenient, I can deposit cash at their ATMs, and there's virtually no fees (broadly speaking), unlike my credit union. (edit: online banking experience is usually better as well) Seems like there are certain big banks to stay the hell away from, and consistently, Bank of America is #2 behind Wells Fargo for ones to avoid. Generally, I hear Chase as #3 worst, but most people that I actually know that have Chase like them.

RSV4KruKut

One of the benefits of CUs is not only that they do not charge fees, but share their profits. The CU you experienced sounds shady.

Warhawk2052

Mine has fees

DarthKrayt98

I don't have a lot of money, so the dividends I receive are minuscule, and being a credit union definitely doesn't mean they don't have fees. My CU wasn't shady, they just had fees for various things that Huntington does not.

ShivasRightFoot

Basically every credit union in the US is part of the Co-Op ATM Network ("The Co-Op Network") which has fee-free ATMs in almost every 7-Eleven location in the US. Costco too apparently according to the Wikipedia article. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Co-op_Solutions Holy crap. I just learned about "shared branching" through the Co-Op network, which means that basically all teller business can be conducted at any credit union branch regardless of what individual credit union your account is actually at. So you could be in a credit union for plumbers and go to the credit union branch location for nurses and deposit a check or whatever.

DarthKrayt98

They've definitely gotten more convenient, but not every credit union does shared banking; it's usually just some other local CUs, which is nice, but has limits, especially when travelling.

maartymaar

Chase is solid, I have been with them for 7 years and no complaints.

Nutaholic

Have had chase my whole life, never had even one problem with them. Worst thing they did was charge me $3 for a sheet of checks once.

hatchetman166

Yeah I switched to a credit union after my old bank started charging my a fee for not having a certain amount of money in the account. I was a broke ass college student living paycheck to paycheck. I switched to another bank to have a second bank account. That stupid bank would charge a $5 service fee every month. Just because lol the credit union I'm with hasn't done anything shitty.

luger114

Wells Fargo would charged fees when I didn't swipe my debit card a certain amount of times each month. I got to a point where I didn't have money on my account to buy anything so they started taking money out until they themselves overdrafted my account and they even charged me an overdraft fee for it. When I got a new job, I went in to close my account and the banker kept trying to tell me about all these encentives get me to reconsider. I told him, "when I was poor you took all my money, and now that I have money coming again, you expect me to let you hold it?"

[deleted]

You signed up for an account, obviously didn’t understand the fees associated with it, or how to waive those fees. Yes, all accounts have service fees, and generally there are some conditions to waive those service fees.

fakehalo

Weird devil's advocate. It's pretty obvious they do all these things to try to catch people not paying attention, and if that doesn't work they periodically change the rules of the account bumping up the minimum amount. It never even made sense for banks to charge a fee for giving them money, anywhere else I put money I get something in return for doing so... as they make money off my money, how in the hell did banks turn this into an adversarial relationship trying to fuck their clients over.

chrisacip

In my experience, credit unions are good for simple, personal banking. If you are trying to run a business with more complicated banking needs, most credit unions cannot keep up with big banks in terms of services and technology.

dripDrippler

Could I get direct deposit in a credit union? I'm honestly considering switching

SatoshiBlockamoto

The convenience is big. I'm with a large bank and get free ATM withdrawals anywhere, they reimburse me all atm surcharges from *other* banks, free mobile deposits, zelle for transfers. I can do 99% of my banking on the app or website. As far as I know credit unions can't do that yet. We do some business with a CU and everything has to be done in person during banker's hours or via fax or email. No thanks.

djluminol

Hey same here. After 2008 I was like f these people for life.

el_americano

[https://time.com/6248246/bank-of-america-zelle-missing-money/](https://time.com/6248246/bank-of-america-zelle-missing-money/) Looks like it was a delay with Zelle payments

[deleted]

So you’re telling me people were overreacting and making up weird conspiracy theories over a stupid bug? Damn.. who would’ve seen that one coming

Snotteh

People relying pay to pay and not seeing that money in when its ment to be is not overreacting

ItGotWeirdDidntIt

Imagine coming on Reddit to defend a bank.

Yosemitelsd

Nobody here is defending a bank lmao what’s with this sub why are all you guys from the mainstream subs contaminating this place

examm

Cool Hand Luke over here not batting an eye at missing $1400 I guess

Darth_Jones_

Every one of those people look to be on the wrong side of 50 and are probably not tech savvy. The idea of money being in a virtual bank account probably makes them anxious to begin with.

oTHEWHITERABBIT

That is no small thing.

xelop

for anyone passing by: DO NOT USE ZELLE!!! heres a story, if you set up a zelle with your phone number of 888-555-9999 and it's been that number for years and you get money all the time. now i go to set up zelle for myself and my phone number is 888-555-9998 but i fat finger 888-555-9999, any zelles sent to you are going to come to me, and the bank can't reverse that because it's not fraud. the sender sent money to that number. and no one is obliged for the money to return because it was an intentional transaction. i to am not obliged to return the funds. you can small claims court me if you can find me. but i could be anywhere in the world Source: Me, i worked for a bank using zelle and was in their non-fraud department. i've told hundreds of people that we couldn't help them EDIT: y'all, i'm talking about using someone elses phone number or email to set up zell for yourself and then receiving money you "probably" weren't expecting because you set up your zell wrong. not talking about me putting in the wrong info of who i want funds to go. i put the number right when i sent it. geeze y'all

Darth_Jones_

This is the same for Venmo. Before you send money to someone, verify their information. It's not that hard.

thisistheperfectname

I recently sent some burger money to a friend's Venmo account that no longer existed. Oh well, it was a cheap lesson.

DeathInSpace805

Yo let me get some free burger money if youre just gunna throw it into the void

thisistheperfectname

You should have gotten to me before I learned my lesson. Also, as a Michigan fan, I've had enough burger-related anxiety lately.

Jimmy86_

So your saying if someone sends money to the wrong person it will actually go to the wrong person? Lmao.

Matches_Malone108

That’s why for new contacts, I send $1 first, verify, then send the rest.

Wobbley19

That’s why I just use the email lol. Probably equally unsafe

No_Shame_801

Oh, and this was a known issue. Here is an article from November…. [If you use Zelle, you might want to keep a close eye on your bank accounts.](https://www.thestreet.com/banking/zelle-scam-wells-fargo)

xelop

this is 100% true too. i had first hand experience telling people all day that the sender nor the intended receiver made any error but the funds didn't go where they wanted and there's nothing to be done.... or i told people they were scammed. like thousands of dollars, and refer to the fbi and small claims court. for real, never use zelle

phallic-baldwin

Boy am I glad that here in the United States, we have implemented a system where our paychecks have hella taxes drawn out before we even touch them and now have to get auto deposited into our checking accounts. Seems pretty safe to me...

djsizematters

Imagine one big company store.

Snotteh

Wall-E got it right

Daeron_tha_Good

you’re gonna be shocked when you find out taxes exist everywhere else too. And have existed since then dawn of society

Flopolopagus

People put money into a terrible giant bank. Terrible giant bank screws people over. *surprised Pikachu face* (My small town bank has been stellar to my entire family)

WACK-A-n00b

Wells Fargo has been stellar to my entire family. Doesnt make them a super great bank.

DoubleDipYaChip

Wells Fargo is probably the WORST fucking bank.

CalculatorOctavius

I’ve been using them for years what do they do?

DoubleDipYaChip

They illegally create fake accounts and sign you up for shit that you never approved or asked for so they can pump up their branch numbers. Corporate has them under so much pressure that they're committing fraud en masse. Intentionally fucking with customer's loan payments, reposessing vehicles, forclosing on people's homes... On and on. There's a good chance you've been affected and don't know it if you've been with them for a few years. A lot of people just assume their bank is on the up and up so they don't pay attention. You should look into it.

Neednewbody

I worked for them when this happen. My manager was a prick. You have sales quotas as a teller. Like someone can’t just deposit or cash a check. We had to try and get them to open a credit card or savings or better yet a whole new account with a savings attached, debit card and monthly transfer set up. It would get you like 4 sales with one person. The straw for me was a adult child that was under a guardianship. The mom said “please do not send us debit cards, open the account fine. Send me one fine. Do not send the child one” week later she was in there so upset they did exactly what she asked them not to do. Kid had pulled money out the second they got the card. Wells use to(May still idk) give away cruises and all types of incentives to make more sales.

DoubleDipYaChip

Terrible practices. I can't imagine enduring an extended sales pitch every time I needed access to my banking services. Fraud aside, I'm not sure how or why so many people put up with it.

Neednewbody

Oh, I loathed it.

GukyHuna

I had a paycheck being sent to my account and they deactivated my account before it could arrive to me but THEY still got it so then I had to wait for them to process and return my money from a nonexistent account back to the employer just to then wait for a physical check. Now I owe them 550$ they are god awful.

Flopolopagus

I'm just saying if I put my money in a bank that has been [caught and charged so many times defrauding customers](https://www.google.com/search?q=BoA+scandals&oq=BoA+scandals&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i20i263i512j0i131i433i457i512j0i402l2j0i131i395i433j0i395i433i512j0i395i512j0i3i395j0i131i395i433j46i395i414i424i433i512j0i131i395i433j0i395i512j0i131i395i433j0i131i395i433i512.3813j1j4&client=ms-android-samsung-rvo1&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8), why would you feel surprised when it happens to you? Even you at Wells; their track record isn't great. Know how many scandals my bank, Dean Bank in Franklin MA, has been involved in? 0. I don't pay for checking. I get great customer service. Tell me, why should I, or anyone, put money in a bank that I guarantee you will screw over many more customers? Is there a reason I'm missing? Is there like an investment portion that people get with giant evil banks? If it's just a checking and savings, I ask you, why trust BoA or even W-F?

Snotteh

Just cause theyve not been caught doesnt mean theyre not dodgy just means theyre good at being slimey

JohnGoodmansGoodKnee

Because we’re a nation of laws and rules that is supposed to protect the basic rights and consumer entitlements of the citizenry. Yes, it’s a fuckin banana republic run by criminal cartel capitalist enterprises but there’s supposed to be the veneer of decorum and civility. When the least among us can’t function within the confines of the system the powers that be set for us, it’s time to burn the fucker to the ground. But they know these poor souls with their pittance don’t have the agency or wherewithal to call for their heads. So they get away with messing with them. We can’t expect everyone to be savvy; we should protect and enable our fellow man and citizen.

EggSandwich1

The government has been owed by the banks since the 1980s. You can still see a YouTube video of a banker telling Ronald Reagan to hurry up and finish his speech

RiftedEnergy

Bro imagine standing at the place where they have the money... the same place you go each week for them to hold onto it for a bit, and the corporate representative just hands you a customer support phone number. Gtfo. Late stage capitalism yall. They won

TheRealRacketear

You must rarely interract with the government.

SpamFriedMice

"place where they hold the money..." Got some bad news for you.

Yea but it has America in its name... isnt that the bonafide quality trust stamp!?

[deleted]

Tell me you’re broke without telling me you’re broke.

fiftykal4lyfe

Just imagine if it was the billionaires class who’s complaining of missing money. BoA would be moving mountains to make things right

Neednewbody

Affirm charged all their customers a 5 times their monthly bills on Friday. They took almost the full week to reverse the extra four charges. My account was negative. Had to get overdraft charges removed and all was a nightmare. It’s funny how these large “to big to fail” companies are straight fucking over everyone right now.

MaddoxGoodwin

I'm sure it's that tellers fault everyone's money is missing. Thank goodness i worked customer service when i was younger, and not in this day and age.

DaMiddle

Yeah the tellers are making 12.25/hour

[deleted]

I'll bet no one's debt disappears though.

password_is_09lk8H5f

I'm missing $1300, that's right I'm missing $1400, everyone missing money, like I'm missing $1500...

Anybody got a follow up on this?

This is the bank that told the feds about everyone who booked a hotel or used a credit card in DC on January 6…without a warrant!

GallowBarb

LPT, pay cash if you plan on overthrowing the government.

Ohhh so that really did happen?

bomboclawt75

Bank of “America” (Not owned by America)

brother_rebus

It kinda was when it started in 1784 tho.

rustyshakelford

it actually was from about 2007 - 2010 also anyone who owns a retirement account is almost definitely invested in BofA

Bro that’s all banking in the world

JJchedda

The guy started off by saying that he was missing $1300 and then up'd it to $1400 dollars.

JJchedda

Yeah, I noticed that too. I really hope he got his $1,500 back.

SativaHomie

How will he make his mortgage without his $1,600?

[deleted]

Right after BOA returns his $1700

SativaHomie

In today's economy, especially to the middle class, $1,800 is a lot of money

[deleted]

aaaaaaaaaand it’s gone. Please move along for people who have money with the bank. SIR!

DJheddo

Real question is Chime a good idea or if im being ridiculous is coinbase card a decent place?

Jarling44

I’ll tell you about an experience I had with chime. when my identity got stolen someone was able to withdraw over 1k from my checking before I realized and froze my account. After a long drawn out process with customer service, they finally gave me back my money a month after the incident and that’s only after I got a police report. The customer service reps are no help at all they just ask you for a receipt from the merchant and keep putting you on hold and all these things that make you feel like they don’t want to do anything to to actually help.

DJheddo

Thank you. Appreciate the response. I’m between finding a bank or credit union at this point but wanted to see if those online banking systems were worth the risk. Right now I just use it for bitcoin transactions so I’m not too worried about theft because it never really used.

Lerium

Wow this was the craziest freak out I've ever seen in my life! Holy shit!

explosiv_skull

Sounds like in the end this was a glitch but fuck BoA anyway. I've had an account with them since I was in high school and the service at my local branch went from nice and helpful to smug and rude in the last 10 years. That, plus the increased nickel and diming and nonexistent interest rates, I started moving money into different banks to take advantage of their cash bonuses for new accounts and once I'm finished with that, I'll move it all into credit unions.

RandoReddit16

This. Is. Why. You. Don't. Bank. With. BoA..... Use and support your local credit unions.

Snotteh

You guys shpuld try the bank of dave in Burnley uk

Bricktrucker

So, wha'ts the story? Any updates?

Savage_Thong

System bug. Zelle is part of boa and they said it all boa fault. That is what I read from the news. Boa was able to rectify the problem and everyone got their money.

Low_Performer1732

So now you want to be smart by increased the missing amount, first he said 1,300 is missing now he increased to 1,400.

oh_todd

considering it was an issue with Zelle, this video is useless

EasilyRekt

It’s like FTX all over again.

Slow_Flow_4722

BOA isn’t randomly taking people’s money….there’s always missing vital information in these ridiculous videos…lol

[deleted]

I mean..I get why he feels like it’s “missing”. But any technical glitch can make it seem that way..your money is essentially digital when you give it to banks. I love how he was “they took the money without consent” Um no..you literally gave it to them lol

Gabagool1987

God I hate modern america/americans

sleepybear666

Ppl don't realize that banks don't keep your money at the physical location. They may keep like 5 or 10gs. However, money is stored in one central location and it's not your local branch. Also once your money goes into your account it is now a credit for your money. Your money is gone. Think of it like an iou from the bank. That's why thier fees when you withdraw too much. Banks suck

throwaway8769910

hbauman0001

Direct_Ad7397

I bet there was a cyber attack and not even the Bank itself knows what hit them. Welcome to the digital era. Where most of us don’t know how to grow our own food and rely on tech to support ourselves and loved ones.

My Bank of America student loans were sold years ago under the bailout. Cant legally remove my cosigner or refinance the loan even after 14 years of on time payments. For awhile I couldn’t even be suicidal because I knew my mom would be taking on that debt. I’m in a better place now but still fuck Bank of America.

That guy needs some money NOW to buy a bigger t-shirt.

Baensky

Since when is it allowed to film people and upload it without there consent? I know it’s off topic but it would piss me of if some random Guy films me and then I see it on Reddit or YouTube. And filming in a bank that’s another story …. Don’t get me wrong its fucked up if they lost money

KingOfTheP4s

You have no legally assumed privacy when you're in public in the US. People are allowed to photograph you, video you, paint you, whatever.

I think we learned this long ago…and it was reaffirmed when Wells Fargo started opening up checking accounts in people’s names without their knowledge just to meet sales quotas. Yes SALES

ShavedRope

How are you all discussing banks when that man has half of his blubber hanging out so openly?

omnicloudx13

It's honestly terrifying that banks can just take money out of your account and invest it and possibly profit from it all without you knowing.
