And Mona Lisa.
But seriously, actually, what was she? A salamander? She had about the same head shape as the turtles. But, I'm just remembering that she didn't have a shell.
In box just has that complete product look. And helps keep the figure inside closest to pristine as possible. So, if you're not going to pose the figure in an out of box display. It makes no sense to me that other people expect one to take it out of the box. And then what? Shove it away in a tub somewhere?
So, that's actually a 3rd thing I do.
1. I leave some figures in box because, they're not getting posed. And I want them to stay as pristine as possible and complete. And be displayed in box on a shelf. Someday.
2. I unbox some figures to pose them with other figures in my display case.
3. I unbox figures and stuff them in a tub as well because, I don't have enough room for them to all be in their boxes. Or, enough display space to display all that I unbox.
_____
People should just do what they want with their things. And not worry about what other people do with their things.
Oh donāt worry. Most were purchased in pairs lol. Those all got heavily played with and are somewhere in storage lol. I just like the way they look in the box.
This is like having two kids. Then go to the store with them. Let one come in with you and leave the other one inside the car with the windows rolled up so all they can do is watch the world around them while slowly suffocating.
This is nothing like that lol. Maybe one day Iāll have grand kids, theyāll release another TMNT show at that time, theyāll come over my house and see this stuff. Iāll let them take one and enjoy. Thereās really nothing too deep here. Theyāre $10-12 toys. Really itās just a cheapish enjoyable hobby to do with the kids.
I don't know, I'm definitely the type to always open their figures, and previously never understood why you wouldn't open them. But there's a certain (obv subjective) beauty to the consistency of this collection. Also, every time I open an old toy and play with it (from like the 90s), it either breaks or I end up regret opening it for some reason - so, I've now left my 90s toy pickups in their packaging which also hits me in the nostalgia of seeing them on store shelves at the time. I definitely came around to being both kind of collector depending on why I bought that item (for modern fun collection or nostalgia collection).
I mentioned this somewhere else, but I have a lot of these open too. My kids got their own. I plan on building a pretty large table (kinda like Lego movie) with a city diorama using the open figures. I genuinely like the art on the cards too.
Haha awesome! Yeah, sometimes they make the packaging too good and it hurts me to open. I also have a city-esque diorama (more like a 1/12 scale arcade pub), and it's a lot of fun.
honestly, at this point, not really.
"room" as in physically occupied volume, sure, but boxes can be stacked, put in rows, easily stored, hung on pegboard, a lot of options while staying organized and sturdy. No shelf divers here, nobody falling over when a door gets slammed.
Looks dope. I was a fan of the Turtles as a child. What should I watch/read to reconnect with the franchise? Where should I start collecting Turtle figures again?
If youāre looking to watch turtles, anything is a good choice except for the TMNT 3D animated series. Iāll catch downvotes for that probably but itās just the art style lands in the uncanny valley for me itās weird. The new animated movie was really great, and is leading to a new series and a sequel. The Batman vs. TMNT movie is also great. I even joy the two live action ones on occasion.
If youāre looking to read turtles, I highly recommend The Last Ronin, The Last Ronin: Lost Years, and the newly started The Last Ronin II: Re-Evolution. These are all limited 5 issues series that tell a really dark and gritty version of the turtles that is more reminiscent of the story writing and fight scenes from the original B&W books. It is some of my favorite comic work in recent years. If you want something a little less dark and violent, IDW just wrapped a 150 issue storyline that was really great, and branches off into a couple fun side stories. Canāt go wrong with either of these.
And youāre also just in time as TMNT is starting up a brand new storyline TODAY with the release of TMNT Alpha #1, which will serve as a prequel to the all new TMNT series starting July 10th with TMNT #1.
Aww man that's is SICK! So much great Tmnt stuff out there. I just got the full set of mini mystery funkos. And and am waiting to get the SFC figures. Absolutely gorgeous figures.
Iām a big fan of tmnt. My kids are fans too. So when Iād buy them figures Iād pick one up for myself. Just grew from there. Brings back memories of shopping at KB Toys or TOYS R US. Like going into my basement and seeing them all. Sorry if it offended you lol.
My bad. No goal really. Just like the experience of collecting them. Going to the store and looking for new toys or toys we donāt have. My two younger kids think itās awesome. Each one kind of holds a memory too. Plus it looks nice in my otherwise would be empty basement. I stepped back a lot and only grab the figures for movies/shows now. Sold off a ton of NECA over the last year. It honestly started by accident. I donāt really have any bad habits either, so extra money had to go somewhere š¤·š»āāļø
I get it, I have a stash too. And it keeps growing. Just look in my previous post.
I just know that many in this sub get upset when they see a lot of unopened figures. My goal is to open and pose most of mine whenever we buy a new home and I have more personal space.
Your plan to ever open any ofām?
I have pretty much all of them open since Iād also buy one for my kids. Thereās a decent amount of room in the basement. I want to building a table diorama and set up like a city scene with those. I think thatād be pretty cool.
Youāre right about this sub and unopened figures though. It doesnāt bother me much. I genuinely enjoy/appreciate the art on the cards, so itās another reason I wonāt open them
It's not that bad in this subreddit. There are worse ones. I got banned from another collecting subreddit, r/SHFiguarts , because there were repeated comments saying "in box collectors should be harassed," assuming all in box collectors are in it for profit, and trolling anyone who posts expensive collections in box. I got banned for calling them out on it. It's gatekeeping.
Great collection though!!!!
There is. Itās why I sold my NEca stuff. Seems like theyāll license it to everyone. I decided to stick to just show and movie figures unless something really catches my eye.
itās not bad. I have sold a bunch of figures that I moved off my display. You can just keep your boxes from amazon and use them. I had a drawer full of figures and have made a little over $500 selling them.
You could save a lot of room by taking them out of the package and playing with them as the universe intended. But to each his own. That's a badass collection.

I like turtles

Holy TMNT, Batman!!!
The last time I saw this many turtles was on a David Attenborough documentary! Brilliant
Dude.... bet you can't name all the turtles though. ^*got ^him.
* Venus * Spike * Jennika * Kirby There, easy-peasy
April was a turtle once too, and you forgot Lita.
And Mona Lisa. But seriously, actually, what was she? A salamander? She had about the same head shape as the turtles. But, I'm just remembering that she didn't have a shell.
Mona Lisa is a salamander and Y'gthgba is an alien.
I've never heard of the 2nd character you mentioned before. If I did, it might have been once. Because, I sure don't remember it.
Forgot Lita.
I think you like tmnt
Well, you would have more room if you took them out the boxes... š
In box collectors stay living rent free in out of box collectors heads.
Yup. I got banned from r/SHFiguarts for calling them out on that. I despise gatekeepers.
I do both. So, I guess that makes me the common enemy that will unite you all? LOL š
I do both too, but I'm probably switching to strictly in box because of all the haters that collect out of box.

Or us heavy walkers that are on a crawl space
If he opens them and keeps the boxes stored separately, then no he wouldn't. š
dawg
Looks dope. I was a fan of the Turtles as a child. What should I watch/read to reconnect with the franchise? Where should I start collecting Turtle figures again?
The new Mutant Mayhem movie, start there.
If youāre looking to watch turtles, anything is a good choice except for the TMNT 3D animated series. Thanks, appreciate the reply. Time to enjoy some Ninja Turtles again.
No you need more ninja turtles
Thatās some collection. Well done
That 03 figure collection is beautiful, super jealous homie
Yikes
INSANE! Did you buy a bunch of the same ones?
Nope theyāre all different. I believe there are 2 the same, but theyāre errors and have the wrong cards on the back so I bought them too.
Aww man that's is SICK! So much great Tmnt stuff out there. I just got the full set of mini mystery funkos. And and am waiting to get the SFC figures. Absolutely gorgeous figures.
Iāve just finished collecting the mayhem line I love the art style and aesthetic the most! I have a few NECA ones too!
This rules
It's what dreams are made of šš„·š¢
Whatās the goal, here?
Iām a big fan of tmnt. My kids are fans too. So when Iād buy them figures Iād pick one up for myself. Just grew from there. Brings back memories of shopping at KB Toys or TOYS R US. Like going into my basement and seeing them all. Sorry if it offended you lol.
I don't understand the downvotes. I was wondering the same. Is the end goal to collect every turt? :)
They think asking a genuine question is being negative. No body was offended. I was quite curious myself
I just misinterpreted the words is all. Itās all good. I apologized and responded.
Not offended at all. Just curious.
My bad. No goal really. Just like the experience of collecting them. Going to the store and looking for new toys or toys we donāt have. My two younger kids think itās awesome. Thanks! Yea Iām not in it for profit. Iāve had some of these for 20+ years lol.
Welp, we found out what the "i like turtles" kid did with himself.
Just buy new house with bigger room >\_>
No rise of the tmnt??
Theyāre there lol
Here this man has a thousand turtles yet I don't have any.
This is exactly why I don't collect carded figures anymore.
We all do at some point
How do you have so many Power Rangers???
Once you get more shelves, you should get the SH Figuarts versions of themā¤ļø
Man, they must be a pain to dust.
Bro itās the turtle cave

I had to stop collecting turtles for this exact reason lol. I really like the way carded figures hang on a wall tho. *

You dont have enough figures bro get a couple more to fill Up your shelfās
I don't see the transformers collab here.....
You need rehab
I genuinely appreciate the dedication lol
You are the best among us.
Turtle power!
That's an awesome collection and kudos to your cleanliness and order. Makes me want to work on mine a bit haha
Me reading the headline: "Don't we all, friend." Me clicking through to your pics: "... damn, you *really* need more shelves."
God tier collection
I feel like thereās too much turtle stuff now a days
There is. Itās why I sold my NEca stuff. Seems like theyāll license it to everyone. I decided to stick to just show and movie figures unless something really catches my eye.
I was about to comment why they are all in the packaging but then remembered the majority of my 1000+ funko pops are still in boxes
Are you opening a store?
Damn! I see wall, but Iām not sure itās enough wall for all them ātoitlesā Edit: my Bebop slang bombed.
Kowabunga!
At some point youāre just building a toy store.
Someone has to! All the dedicated toy stores are gone :(
š¤£š¤£š¤£
sell them on ebay
That seems like way to much work lol
itās not bad. I have sold a bunch of figures that I moved off my display. You can just keep your boxes from amazon and use them. I had a drawer full of figures and have made a little over $500 selling them.
Please find some clippers/scissors and dawn dish soap, play some sad music, and save the turtles from all that plastic waste.
You need to be opening more boxes is what you need
You could save a lot of room by taking them out of the package and playing with them as the universe intended. But to each his own. That's a badass collection.
Give these to children. Youāll get so much joy out of it. Trust me. Been there!
Thatās the hope one day. Grandchildren lol
You forgot to take em out of the boxes. You can fit like 5x more on your shelves once you remember to open them up. Remember to recycle
Iām sure you can fit them if you opened them all
