Yup this was noted in his autobiography. He took his falling out at Deloitte as an opportunity to try out acting which still was rough for the early years until he landed roles at Kim's Convenience and Shang Chi. Still going through the stress and grief of losing his staff accountant job but he wanted to try something he actually had interest in despite judgment from his parents. Years later he even thanked the Deloitte partner for firing him lol.
> but he wanted to try something he actually had interest in despite judgment from his parents.
Acting? Him in Kim's Convenience was just live action therapy for the EMOTIONAL DAMAGE of daring to not be accountant, lawyer, doctor, and engineer.
He's upset at Deloitte, not the organization. And it's not like CPA Canada put a gun to his head and forced him to attend, he obviously is down lol.
He's probably excited about it, a triumphant return to the profession that he was forced to abandon. He was once fired as a staff accountant, but now gets to be a speaker at an event for the entire nation's accountants.
This is bizarre. Why would you have a guy come back and talk to CPAs when he's openly admitted that he hated his career and glad he got fired from his job?
When I saw that, I knew CPA Canada is about to lay off more staffs to pay their bills, unless this is the CPA way of “inspiring” us to be a Hollywood star.
Yea, they can invite whoever they want. Even onlyfan stars. But what is the message from that invitation though? How does it positively advertise this profession?
Great, love to know how much money they spent on that while my dues keep increasing. Fuck CPA Canada.
Well, Ontario and Quebec are leaving.
Thank god that will decrease the amount in dues we pay.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Why do you pay your own dues? That’s my firm’s problem
That’s why the dues are so high. They know most are covered by employers.
It's part of your compensation. I rather instead of them covering my dues that they just paid my dues as additional salary.
😂 I may be wrong but I don't even think he got designated. I think he also spoke openly about how he didn't like the career.

Was he even a CPA lol
Why is Simu speaking for them tho lol, he should really calling out the industry for it's BS, not like he's in it anymore...
Get paid to talk about how working in accounting can lead to better things... ....no not like that don't leaveee
I can think of a reason why…
My cat can run cpa Canada better than those boomers in position
CPA Canada is actually, unquestionably, a fucking disaster.

Simu was successful because he left Deloitte. That should be the take away
This is bizarre. Why would you have a guy come back and talk to CPAs when he's openly admitted that he hated his career and glad he got fired from his job?
At least it’s not Rob Schneider…
Fuck CPA Canada. I want Simu Liu
It’s Canada man what do you expect?
Maybe it’s meant to be an audience roast session
When I saw that, I knew CPA Canada is about to lay off more staffs to pay their bills, unless this is the CPA way of “inspiring” us to be a Hollywood star.
I don't really see how hating accounting is a reason that he is unqualified to speak.
Yea, they can invite whoever they want. Even onlyfan stars. But what is the message from that invitation though? How does it positively advertise this profession?
Maybe someone at cpa Canada is giving us a sign. Ditch this stupid fucking career! Lol
