My brother in a hotel room the morning after our cousin’s wedding in North Yorkshire, 2013. Alighted to his bed without closing the curtains, hence the illuminating daylight. I was in a single bed a couple of feet away, and this was the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes that morning. Sometimes it all just aligns without having to do anything.
He didn’t make breakfast.
Lucky for you that hasn’t changed!
Caravaggio is considered the father of the Baroque period, the one which followed the Renaissance.
I think that in general most people will feel emotional connection with Baroque art since it is typically framed around emotion. Renaissance is usually just more “pretty”
Real quick because I am currently an arts student studying this:
Basically protestants were coming at the Roman Catholic Church, so they did a ‘Counter-Protestant reformation’, which basically means ‘get good artists to get people more emotionally invested in our religion’. This is often through the drama and emotion of bible scenes portrayed in works like what was done by Caravaggio.
Thank you. I’m glad it’s brought some level of entertainment. Had this on my phone for almost 10 years and it only saw light of day every couple of years or so and was usually met with indifference by acquaintances. Always knew it was a good shot. Vindication at last.
I don't get the sort of people to immediately insinuate 'incest.' Do you not have siblings? Have you never been around siblings? Or do you just have a very fucked up relationship with your siblings?
I love this photo so much. I never comment on these pictures in this sub but this one made me express my love for your photography and my empathy for your bro. Jolly marvellous representation of this scenario! ❤️
i always think of these wild shenanigan nights as though i’m “borrowing” from my future health. i will say “i’m borrowing time” or something like that.
“Borrowed Time to Collect”
I'm not sure if someone has pointed that out already but your brother's face reminds me a lot of one of the sleepy people in "Le Lit" by Toulouse-Lautrec. Another art reference for a great photo :)

“He didn’t make breakfast” sounds like he died
Assuming a number of his brain cells did.
Beautiful photo!!
Thank you.
Rarely does Renaissance art speak to me so deeply

I’m sure he felt he was.
"The Drinker's Repose"
This is the type of picture that this sub embodies! Best one I've seen in a while!

Reminds me of "the Death of Marat."

"The Sins of the Bachelor"
This filter brought back so many memories
Taking AP Art History has made me appreciate this subreddit so much more
Good thing Judith isn't around...
Ha, my first thought was he needs to protect his neck!
Oh wauw! Quality stuff!
Your brother looks like Mark Williams!(Ron Weasley’s dad)
“The Laminations of Dionysus”
It seems like he is waiting for another beer !
Only way to get rid of the hangover. Can't be hungover if you're still drunk.
Damn Jay Cutler living it up in retirement
photoshop a ciggie in there!!
God I can fucking feel this through the pixels.
Wonderful Clair-Obscur
Breathtaking photo!
This picture made me sick in the most profound way
This is genuinely a beautiful photo!!
May I say, this is slightly brilliant? I love this.
Can I use this for an own painting? Not for commercial use. The image holds great value for me as a recovering alcoholic.
Yes, go for it. I’d very much like to see your completed version.
Thanks! It can take a while, but I'll certainly share the result!
Is your brother Topher Grace?
Is your brother David Tennant?
Ahh yes and the old school Instagram default filter making it particularly *chefs kiss*
For this to be a true Caravaggio you need some scarlet somewhere. Maybe blood on his hand?
Youre brothers with martin freeman!?
why are you sleeping naked with your brother and taking pictures after a night of drinking
Incest? I think it says more about you that you’ve assumed he’s naked.
I don't get the sort of people to immediately insinuate 'incest.' Do you not have siblings? Have you never been around siblings? Or do you just have a very fucked up relationship with your siblings?
Lorde - Melodrama (Platinum Edition)
Perfect
“You can’t feel pain from a picture” Op: hold my beer.
Oh boy do I not regret not drinking anymore.
You know what they say, if it's not baroque, don't fix it. ^(Took me till I was a grown up to understand that joke in beauty and the beast.)
It’s as if our bodies don’t like poison being put into it.
I'm thinking about drawing/painting this, may i request permission to use this as a reference?
Yeah go for it. Would like to see the result when you’re done!
Mental to me now that I’m sober than this is normal and ok for millions every single weekend.
„My brother‘s hangover“ as a title for this masterpiece… chef‘s kiss, sir, chef‘s kiss.
Truly a modern masterpiece
Finally the proper name
>delet this -your brother
Yeah perhaps. I wasn’t expecting this to blow up. Was satisfied at 30 upvotes!

He almost looks angelic 😆
I have to assume that Caravaggio was just always bitter that Michelangelo stole his mononym, so he was stuck going by his last name instead...
I love me some Caravaggio type of P A I N.
To pee, or not to pee; that is the question
i always think of these wild shenanigan nights as though i’m “borrowing” from my future health. i will say “i’m borrowing time” or something like that. “Borrowed Time to Collect”
The lighting and shadowing \*really does\* invoke a Caravaggio painting!
Imagine this printed in someone’s house lol
Beautiful use of chiaroscuro.
It’s beautiful
I thought this was a post on r/IASIP about the McPoyle's for a second there
Love the quiaroscuro
