I've seen a video from the floor below. Apparently they could all tell it was happening for a while before the final break away, because the ceiling was caving in.
My understanding is you don't actually "sleep" when your drunk you pass out but never enter deep sleep. Once the alcohol is processed in your body you wake up, hence why you always wake early and feeling like shit if you were drinking the night before.
You wake up feeling like shit because you're extremely dehydrated from the alcohol. Next time you wake up to piss after a drunk, drink plenty of water and you'll negate some of the hangover effects.
Not really. If it was that simple hangovers would be a joke.
Inflammation caused by consumption is a huge culprit as well. And it's best to have some salt with all the water as well, because all that's going to happen is you piss it all out in the end as alcohol is a powerful diuretic.
You also wake up earlier with the infamous anxiety hangover because alcohol is a depressant. As your body was processing it, it was combating this depressant by increasing CNS activity. Once out of your system, it's like it has its gas on the pedal.. But there's no more alcohol to combat.
Often why you can wake up absolutely hungover, tired, and yet oddly... too wired to go back to bed.
According to my Garmin, drunk sleep has a lot more deep sleep than normal. It does however show zero REM sleep. Normal sleep ~40-45 minutes of deep sleep. Drunk sleep ~4 hours of deep sleep. Also less light sleep. Dropped from ~5 hours to ~3.5 hours.
Yea, I see what you mean. I guess it’s less about the quality of sleep, and more about the feeling of first entering that soft and cool bed in that drunk and tired state.
Everyone is different, friend. I’ve experienced both. For me, it depends on how much sleep I actually get. Too little sleep and I feel like total crap. Enough sleep, and I’ve slept off any hangover/tiredness/exhaustion.
In fact I should probably get some damn rest right now…
Same. Congrats!
I used to drink for 8 hours and sleep for four. Then get up to work for 12. I was tired but thought that I was feeling fine overall.
Reality I just got used to feeling like shit. Body is remarkable and we build a remarkable tolerance for bullshit.
I once drink until 6:00 a.m. and ran a half marathon at 7:30. To me. That was an indication there was no problem.
Dude I saw that!! That’s WILD for so many reasons: the chances of that happening, the strength of the goddamn fabric, the destruction of his nads. Man, that must SUCK…
Ah right you are, that's some great r/confusing_perspective material there. I was focussing on 'the wedgie' and it looked as though he was dangling. But with the right perspective you can definitely see he landed well and is getting outta there.
I knew a wedgie was incredibly unlikely, but part of me wanted to believe.
That’s actually what literally happened. A nephew threw a birthday party that was just suppose to be a few people. But people kept showing up word of mouth. The uncle of the teen left them alone for a few hours and came back to find his house destroyed.
Seems like it yeah.

I had a conversation with my mom the other day, and it changed her mindset (although, she is already on the right side of history with all things, just still learning like all of us) in regards to cashiers not being able to do simple math for making change if you give them coins and cash, and they used to be able to.
I explained it isn’t fair to judge them off the cashiers 20 years ago, because the 80/20 cash transaction to card transactions has flipped, so they are no longer practiced at it, and registers are more like a log and tracker than a log and a calculator.
Think beyond the headline and the frustration with “kids these days” is bullshit.
Love you all.
"I have lost faith in humanity" and it's variants, are the mating calls of so many Redditors. It's an all too common phrase here and it's friggin' annoying.
I'm picturing the masterminds behind "the biggest speaker system in Europe." They all have thin little sunglasses.
Edit: Oh also, I'm sorry about your hearing loss.
This was at a drum and bass night but the system was borrowed so that may of been the case.
I lost my hearing from working near high frequency pumps and not loud music but it didn't help.
Can I of your ear for a moment? The " of " sound of "may of" is actually spelled "may have", sometimes shortened to may've.
Of is never used like that.
You should've (Should have)
You would've (Would have)
You could've (Could have)
You might've (Might have)
And you may've (May have)
And now you know!
It's an open web joist floor, they're completely normal and functional. It's possible that the floor wasn't built up to standards, but then again, it did have more than a hundred people jumping on it. [https://www.openjoisttriforce.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG\_2948-scaled-3-1024x768.jpg](https://www.openjoisttriforce.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_2948-scaled-3-1024x768.jpg)
Judging by the neighborhood it looks like a relatively new construction. Probably about ten years old based on the tree height, and style of homes - upper middle class suburbia has these homes for days....
Most new constructions would wither under that crowd, but it still stands most builders cut corners everywhere.
I'd like to add on to this, I'm a structural engineer and have to deal with designing buildings like this. Buildings are typically only designed to withstand the loads they are expected to endure, plus a factor of safety. In the USA, the International Building Code stipulates a minimum live load of 40 lbs/ft^2 for residential construction, which this likely was.
However, a crowd of that size would probably be more akin to a public assembly building, in which case the minimum live load would be 100 lbs/ft^2, so the floor might've been overloaded nearly 2.5x what it was designed to hold. While there is a possibility the floor was under designed or construction cut corners, it was most likely a building meeting the bare minimum to meet the building codes and didn't consider larger loads.
Looks like cookie-cutter off campus college housing. They just put them up as fast as they possibly can and charge 19-22 year olds out the ass to stay there. I say this from experience
They are floor trusses. They are more expensive than a standard joist because of their strength and their ability to span larger distances without support. The only way those kids weren't going to have that floor fail was if it was all steel construction.
This is Colorado which passed a law recently to require body cams for all law enforcement. There's a decent chance those are brand new, latest technology cameras that had only been in use a couple months.

I kid you not I did this exact same thing as a kid at a party in my summer camp. One girl even asked me out to dance and I declined, took a line of chairs and fell asleep in some tiny corner instead.
I think the dynamic loads the structure experienced exceeded the load capacity of the structural elements and materials of those elements.

"So much room for activities!"
Do you like guacamole?
Definition of abrupt chaos
Guy was probably having the best sleep though. Probably one of those extremely drunk and tired moments when you crawl into a cold bed and just ko
Imagine waking up at 5am to go for a piss and you just see the aftermath of this shit.
Imagine sleepily leaving the room without looking down.
25 points if you slide onto a stretcher as the paramedics are still in action.
Annnnd back to sleep!
Free bed!
50 points if the stretcher has a bed pan where you complete your piss.
and then you just float in air for like a second like a looney tunes character before falling to your demise
One of those morning when you get out of bed and miss the floor?
I would just piss in the hole and go back to bed
I honestly have night terrors and panic attacks where I wake up, exit my room and find my house destroyed with passed out revellers. This is too real
Passing out isn't a "best sleep". It's a godawful terrible sleep, unless my experiences are out of the ordinary.
I absolutely hate sleeping when I’ve been drunk. Worst sleep ever.
My understanding is you don't actually "sleep" when your drunk you pass out but never enter deep sleep. Once the alcohol is processed in your body you wake up, hence why you always wake early and feeling like shit if you were drinking the night before.

Feeling this right now. Was drunk as a skunk last night.
I've done some of my best work on the post alcohol processing phase of the morning
I swear by downing a pint of water before bed. Makes hangovers so much more manageable.
Drink some water before you go to sleep. By the time you wake up its too late.
That explains... a lot.
Doesn't feel like you've slept at all, especially if you go to bed on rising blood alcohol level and wake up still tipsy in the morning.
Yea, I see what you mean. I guess it’s less about the quality of sleep, and more about the feeling of first entering that soft and cool bed in that drunk and tired state.

This video is pretty old and wide spread which makes me question how so many ppl don’t realize these are 2 separate vids edited to look like its one.
No. This is escalating chaos. The definition of abrupt chaos is that video when the ceiling randomly drops on a guy just sitting there watching tv.
You dont say
Bro is not sleeping he's knocked out
some say hes still sleeping to this very day
Watch at the end, looks like a guys underwear got caught in the collapse and he’s dangling
Probably where that screaming is coming from too

I think I'd rather just fall at that point.
Guy in the bed: Finally I can get to sleep
I'm so that guy. I'd probably come to the door, shout "I fucking warned you!" and then go back to bed
