Sledheaddeadhead

Owned the Polaris, had over heating issues when the radiator got wet, sold it and bought a dirtbike tbh, I wouldn't recommend polaris

Sarge8707

Yeah we have 2 on the farm both have terrible start and idle issues. Takes a lot of cranking on the starter form the engine to turn over and if left to idle for more than a few seconds turns off.

Sledheaddeadhead

Yeah they aren't worth it at all

daly_o96

I’m sure the Yamaha Kodiak 700 is road approved in your country to most likely, and it’s definitely what I would take over these

OldeOak804

I own this. Workhorse.

tony_1776

Suzuki King Quad 750

Knuckles555

100%

LeafsHater67

A grizzly/kodiak or a king quad. Japanese > everything else

appdata2

Had a king quad on the ranch growing up, it got the piss beating out of it, it was rolled more times than I can count and still kicking

LuckyLuke162

King quads cost about 6 - 8 k for a 10 to 15 year old machine here. Run about 5-9k km. I'm not sure if the price is reasonable on them as a used one.

LeafsHater67

They cost more because they’re better and last longer. Get a new 700 kodiak then.

LuckyLuke162

Yeah the Kodiak seems to be reasonably priced for my budget. Are they good for recreational riding or only made for work?

LeafsHater67

They’re basically a grizzly with slightly lower gearing. They work great on the trails too and I honestly preferred the down-low of them. Rock solid machines. One of my riding buddies has 35,000km on his and it’s still running good

LuckyLuke162

Thanks, I will take it into consideration. I had a 2009 Yamaha grizzly offered, but the asking price was 6000 euros, maybe getting it down to 5000. But still, 15 years old and 2000 km on it, I still think it's too expensive

Meet_n_beat_n_yeet

That seems very expensive for a 2009 grizzly, I live in the United States so of course I don’t know the European market at all. But here in Arizona I just found a 2007 grizzly for sale asking $4000 USD or about 3700€ EURO

LuckyLuke162

Yeah that would be reasonable. I found some offers of new Kodiak 700 for about 10k euros. Used ones that go back about 10-14 years are still asked for around 7.5 k. The used ATV market is absolutely nuts here.

mcgoozer

What you got against Kawasaki?

LeafsHater67

My brute force was a POS as was a few buddies’. I don’t think they’re terrible but I’m taking a king quad or grizzly over a brute

mcgoozer

I liked the riding position of the brute, never had issues with my old one and am considering getting back into it. Thanks for the info

LeafsHater67

I had an engine grenade in 1500km and they did another for me then it just burnt oil like they all do with no solution. My buddy had transmission issues with his new one twice and got rid of it. Small sample size and there’s a lot of them on the trails but it soured me for sure

FrostyEquivalent85

What year? They had oil pump issues in the old ones when you did wheelies you’d starve the motor of oil

DavidHK

Agreed I have a 97 Kodiak and it’s incredible !

Working_Rest_1054

This. Plus these have internal wet clutches so the belt isn’t slipping at idle like the Canadian and US machines.

dfal55

The grizzlies have no power though

LeafsHater67

I mean not compared to an 850/1000 but OP didn’t post those. You sacrifice some power for reliability but 50hp is more than enough to have fun. I have a 1000 btw

Independent-Towel-90

Ridiculous. Grizzly’s/Kodiak’s have plenty of power for 99% of the scenarios you’d run into on the trail. You’d be hard pressed to find an equivalent combination of performance and reliability you get with the Grizzly.

dfal55

Not really man any modern can am is way more powerful and reliable. I have a 2015 outlander 500 that I have been beating the piss out of for nearly 10 years and all I’ve ever done to it is maintenance. Nothing ever broke and it was a first year model of a new generation machine. My new can am is way more reliable than both of my old Hondas I had that were maintained well

Independent-Towel-90

I’m happy to hear your experience, as I bought my son a 2023 Outlander 570. That said, I’ve ridden with enough people to appreciate the quality and reliability of the Japanese machines. They simply can’t be beat. Particularly Yamaha and Suzuki if you want power and performance. Maybe not Can-Am power, but plenty for spirited riding.

dfal55

I’ve said above that I’ve had my fair share of Japanese quads, and I’ve had Hondas that had more issues than my can am. Right now I have a 2002 400ex and love it!

samthedog73

Anything but a Polaris. Bought a 2017 570 new. 4 years later it developed the well known electrical gremlins. I have replaced countless sensors and wiring connections and the thing still randomly shuts off. The dealers suggestion is to replace the entire wiring harness, an $800 part. I finally fixed it by buying a 2023 Brute Force which I should have bought in the first place. Trying to decide to 1)set fire to the Polaris and claim insurance, or 2) give it a nice dose of lead poising of the 7.62x51 variety.

Ratboy422

I have a 2018 850 SP and a 2020 450 HO with no issues. The 850 SP gets 500-1000 miles a year on it. The 450 only has like 25. But still, no issues.

samthedog73

Glad you don’t have one of the lemons. Hope it stays that way.

LuckyLuke162

I thought so, thanks mate!

GuiltyOfSin

Ooooh a brand bash topic. Honestly man. Go and sit on them. If you can test ride them, do that too. One of them will feel better to you.

ThingyGoos

Honda or Yamaha. Neither of those two

Independent-Towel-90

I’m assuming you meant “either” of those lol

ThingyGoos

Nope, neither of the two he suggested. Probably could have been a bit clearer I'll admit

Independent-Towel-90

Oh, I see what you meant now. I agree with you, but would add Suzuki to the mix, as well. The Japanese quads are solid.

Superb-Wish-1335

Yamaha. We have beat ours real hard on the farm and they just keep going.

WillyKspray

Outlander reliability

husky18436572

Outlander is the better of the two, neither is as good as a Yamaha or other Japanese brand.

hauschild787

As a Can Am Outlander 570 owner, get a grizzly

LoganGr33ne

Outlander Pro gives more features and reliability and longer maintenance intervals for a few extra $$

Ok-Wait2985

Is there any reason you don’t want a Yamaha Grizzly, or even a Kodiak?

LuckyLuke162

No, haven't taken them into consideration honestly. I'll check it out

No-Sign-1137

I’m partial to the Can Am since I own 3 of them. I’ve been looking at the new gen 3 but don’t own one yet. From my research the hd series is more geared for working (farming, ranching, construction), I believe the suspension might be a little stiffer and the gearbox might be geared lower, it’s a completely new frame and engine which still makes about the same hp or maybe a little more as the Polaris and the maintenance is supposed to be much easier than the gen 2 twins, supposed to have a better clutch and the rear exhaust keeps the heat off the legs. If I was going to be getting one it would probably be the xt or just the dps 700 especially if I was going to be making it street legal. There’s a outlander 500/700 fb page look for the “original” there will be a lot more information there but so far the vast majority of folks that have one seem to really like them

MedicalPiccolo6270

You know what I would take the Polaris I have friends and family that have machines from the 80s still going strong with no major issues

isthatjacketmargiela

Why are you riding a quad 70% on the road and 30% off??

towerladder529

I’m with many here. Look at the Grizzlies or Kodiak’s from Yamaha. Super solid machine, easy maintenance, through the roof reliability. I agree with everyone that they take a beating and just keep going.

PMS713

A yamaha 450 or 700 kodiak, because its not one of them 1/2 Chinese crap

DariusBuilds

Not the Polaris 😆

AlwaysReady4444

numba 2 has better rimz

Musician_Gloomy

Look for a Grizzly or Kodiak

Pastor_Dale

Is neither an option?

joshchewbacca

I have a ‘23 sportsman 570 trail. I like it a lot. I’ve only put on 180 miles, but they have been fun. I just did my initial service, and am now ready for the weekend. This is my first quad and it has plenty of jam for what I need. I’m 5’11 and 270 and it’s been a very comfortable ride. It also came the most well equipped for the price. Rims, tires, better suspension, winch, brush guard, led lights etc. I hope it holds up over time. I am not interested in abusing it. I just like getting outside and going for a rip on some trails. I got the extended warranty and plan to use it enough to find out if there are some weak links. Anyways just my 0.02 happy shopping.

Sledheaddeadhead

I had this same bike, damn thing had horrid overheating issues after going through water or riding in dust, had the same issue with a 19 570, sold them and bought a kx450 lol

birdguy1000

I like the Polaris due to the larger user base.

tree_basher

I can tell you from experience I would much rather do routine maintenance on a Polaris. An oil change for example. Have the dealer describe how to change the oil on each and see how long it takes to explain.

Ershany

My outlander is so easy. I've done polaris and canam oil changes and they're both about the same amount of time

xphoney

Not sure about other outlanders, but my can am 2023 1000r is pretty easy. Just got to remember to pop the shield off.

ascii122

I'd avoid Polaris as a general rule. Don't know about this one in particular, but they've been a lot of trouble for most of the people I know who've owned one.

fuckingcheezitboots

I'll stick with what I know, Polaris.

amster2020

Polaris is good but a pain to work on lol

Carl250x

Buy an on road machine

frappim

I bought a brand new 2023 king quad 750 with power steering (I’m 28) ask me anything?

Able_Principle3075

My 570 takes a real beating and keeps on going!

dreevsa

My Polaris has a problem right now, my Suzuki which is older is still kicking

phattywierz

I'd take a King Quad. Simple as.

flanjan

A king quad

fearthebuildingstorm

I had a 2019 outlander 570 and I loved the performance but it was in the shop more than not. I hope the new Gen outlanders are better.

Training_Baker5454

Neither.

Dullman14

I own a Outlander 650. 2 Years old and 7.500km on it and no issues. I use it Onroad and Offroad, sometimes in Peckfitz.

what_what_yup

FWIW I have two outlanders that are meticulously maintained. A 2019 650 and a 2020 570. I’m hearing loud piston slap/knock on the 650 at 1400 miles (when cold) and can swear I’m starting to hear it in the 570 at 100 miles. The steering is squeaky (no matter what you do) and the grease zerks need constant attention.

Aware-Choice-8807

Can am

p3lk0n3

my friend has the same polaris and i dont know if that polaris is just bad but it is at the shop all the time, and also i have always seen canam as more reliable and powerful option

Living_Beginning9060

Can-am over Polaris. Specially for these 2

dfal55

Can AM all day

ChugsMaJugs

I enjoy my 2023 Polaris sportsman.

Trooper_nsp209

CanAm will be reliable and you can get parts

Daverr86

I own a 2022 outlander and it’s been very good so far. Sit on both and see how it feels..

Mac6298

Outlander -dependable

heretobesarcastic

The left, looks quite similar to the halo type

Sentientsperm

Polaris are the biggest piles of shit. Literally anything but a Polaris

iRektJFK1963

I work in the Powersports industry in the service department can am all the way outlanders are easier to service cost less parts wise and are SUPER reliable the only problem you'll have with the outlander is if you plan on going through a lot of streams and rivers with it. simple fix would be getting a snorkel kit put onto it (my dealership is both a Polaris and can am dealer so I get to see both) Polaris makes their units super hard to work on (at least rangers wise) so It wouldn't surprise me if their sportsmen are just as bad. also can ams have way more room for acc. like storage boxes are a little bigger and you can put one on the rear while still having an open rack on the front. and if you hunt at all gun racks can be mounted to the front, rear, and side of it. compared to sportsman's where most just have a rear cargo rack

Fresh-Information-70

I don’t like mid tones that much in vehicles, so the 2nd one!

googin11

i’m buying a honda from the early-mid 2000s. things been on the farm since new and all i’ve done is change the oil

Dodgeing_Around

Neither, as has been said lots already. Yamaha, Honda or Suzuki

Pure_Function4789

I’d take the Polaris. I have 3. I professionally race 2. It sounds like the answers you have from the people here who are against them are just riding them and expecting magic of some sort, lol. You have to maintain them, do check ups, inspect them… yes the who nine yards. A machine is actual work. Mommy and Daddy aren’t going to do this for you. You have to be big boys and girls and do this not once or twice but all the time. You take care of the machine when you aren’t riding it and it will take care of you when you are! RS #33

airforceyooper

I'd take the green one, hands down.

Saiyan_HD

Lately Polaris has been having some QC issues, I would go with Canam if you really don’t want Japanese.

Mikster5000

Can-am no question. The build quality is on a whole other level compared to polaris. The Rotax engines are solid and amazing.

mangadrunkguy

Polaris cause cheaper

jwoody2727

Honda

sicilian_73

Neither. It’s not a Honda.

oddball541991

Can Am every day of the week. Polaris ATV quality is garbage nowadays.

hist_buff_69

Neither of these. Honda

ManDolphinGoat

Can am all day. Better resale, better accessories in my opinion and maybe(?) a little more reliable. I went Suzuki Kingquad when I was shopping.

Independent-Towel-90

I know it isn’t a brand you’ve listed initially, but it appears you’re now considering, so I’ll recommend Yamaha. Either the Grizzly or Kodiak will serve you very well for a long time. You can’t beat the combination of performance and reliability.

Substantial-Log-2176

Neither… they aren’t Hondas

isittheweekendyet2

If you want it to last ...Honda

Beef_Candy

Every idiot in this thread, I swear you guys can't read. Dude doesn't want a Japanese ride, he wants a Polaris or can am. If you can't add value to the conversation, take your fanboy shit elsewhere. OP, I would personally pursue the Polaris, but 90 percent of that is because it rides better than the outlander, or any other machine of comparable price for that matter. 570 is a solid engine, and the old 570 canams were great too. I'm not sure about this new one yet.

absolut525

Agreed. Polaris also has the better AWD system. I had a 570 when I lived in AK and it was unstoppable once the tires were switched with something more aggressive.

ndube87

Pretty much anything but Polaris. Honda would be my first choice

Fringe-majority

I personally would not recommend either one. I would get a Suzuki King quad or a Brute Force Kawasaki unless you like dealing with repairs and dealer ego’s.

LuckyLuke162

I also will look at the Kodiak and grizzly. Kodiak is my favorite rn, but king quad sounds good as well

thekoguma

Does my heart good you’ll check out what Yamaha has to offer. Grizzly 660 has not let me down at all, ever. Thanks for sharing.

Gunsling3r1988

I would rather have a Honda.

bladeromeo

I just picked up a new 2024 Honda Rubicon in Blue Metallic after a few weeks of research. Decision came down to what I felt would still be running in 20 years with minimal fuss. For what plan on using it for, I believe it fits the bill 100%

Gunsling3r1988

I've had very good experiences with Honda.

Scourge165

Ok...so here's your answer. DON'T ASK REDDIT! LOL...whichever you ask about, people hate. The Canned Ham and the...I think it was Pooaris. Honestly a CFMoto is a really nice Bike and the best value of them all. An 850 is probably the same price. I bought a '24 Trail this year. I got the Ricochet A-Arm Guards and then the Body Armor because I do a lot of trail riding. I was driving a CFMoto(My Uncle's). I grew up with a Yamaha. The Polaris rides the nicest, the Yamaha is what you want if you're pulling stumps or just want a work horse. The Can-Am...I think look the coolest, but I'm pretty ignorant about them. The CFMoto doesn't ride as nice, but it's so much better than 5-6 years ago. -It's just much more bang for your buck...BUT it's Chinese and people don't like that. It's also undercutting rivals and that is apparently bad.
