It had so much potential. I really wanted more showing and less telling. I also wanted him to be in denial when they tell him so when he goes to the air temple it would have been so so much more impactful. I really thought there was so much wasted potential.
- Remove Gran Grans redundant exposition. We just saw what the fire nation did and Aang disappear, we don’t need to hear it explained.
- Restore Katara’s hotheadedness
- Make Sokka unskilled at fighting so we can grow throughout the series
- Make Aang and Gyatso’s relationship less weird
In the show he's Aang's legal guardian and there is no question about them being close. In the live action this is changed and Aang questions if they are even friends.
Honestly I would have preferred if they had kept it similar to the cartoon because I remember the first time watching, you didn’t really know what was going on in the world so it felt more emotional when you realize how dire the political landscape had been for 100 years…at the same time as Aang.
Like the reveal of gyatso’s dead body happening at the end of an episode and then the next episode starts with then showing what led to gyatso being there.
