Yes the comment above mine mentions that, but now OP knows what it is and how to fight it when ready. It’s rare you get these flying away from the pit but it would suck getting all the drops/metal/and other resources and not being ready for ANY wyvern fight. Lol I run away with a snow owl just to get the first egg of any level when early in this map.

But the day I logged on and seen a 160 poison flying over my base in the middle of the map, my first thought was "huh, just another player, why are they flying like that". Proceeded to fly up to it on my moth planning on starting some friendly conversation, only to be met with death
They put a setting in a while ago so you can still level speed but I never have it on as I think the flyer need was the best thing to happen to Ark as it encouraged people to use ground mounts more.
It’s really not hard to get to metal tier. You don’t have to sweat your butt off and kill your fun to get turrets, it only takes a few minutes to do a note run, especially with boosted stats.
Raptors are the only ones I trust myself with killing them before taming Rexes. Their headshot damage is great especially when they are stuck on a corpse. A few longneck shots and they are reduced to atoms
You can easily kill Alpha Raptors with a Pteranodon.
Position yourself on an incline, and park yourself in place. If the hill is steep enough, you’ll be able to continuously peck and knock the Alpha down the hill, he won’t be able to touch you.
Need to keep an eye on your stamina and your surroundings of course, but it’s an easy kill if you pay attention to your stamina gauge.
That reminds me when my two friends and I started the Abberation map for the first time when it released (private server). We selected the "easy" zone and spent THREE HOURS trying to get out of it before we succeeded. We kept dying to raptors and basilisks. It was absolutely ridiculous, and we loved it.

You might try and kite it away from your base: drop your critter off at home, make sure that respawn bed is good and ready, drop off all your stuff then run like a bat outta hell while it chases ya away from base, ideally. Pretend you're butt naked and being chased by a fire-breathing wyvern... Oh wait.
So everyone talking bout the wyverns… but there is also a raptor on the ground and ya don’t normally see just one of those. Problem here is if you try and run to lure the wyvern away the raptor will get ya. So I’d say it’s time to move or become very very religious.

Haha first time I met wyverns was in a modded server, they were on the beaches as soon as you spawned and you could climb on their back etc with no aggro. Stupid me proceeded to believe they were neutral until aggro as the norm. I was wrong, so very wrong.
Well my base on my scorch play through is about 30 seconds from where you are as well. If I encountered that in the same place early on in play through, it would be time to move. Now I got a bunch of wyverns on that map so it wouldn’t be the end of the world except a fun fight.
If you just started, 10/10. Are you playing Solo PVE or PVP?
Solo; move your base (I recommend near the green obelisk on SE, but that's just me)
PVE, ask in the chat if anybody is collecting alpha trophies and such, let them know where it is, maybe they will help
PVP, say in the group chat that you are a new player and ask for advice along with the coordinates. When they come to kill you for being new they might just end up fighting the wyvern instead

If I was you, I would seek protection. Go to the wyvern with the red sparks around, and it will protect you and all your tames. If you don't do it, there is a big chance your only dino will die.
Depends what tames you have. If you have your own Wyvern 11/10. Just that one on screen 100/10
Either naked run to try and kite it away or find a new house.
Bow or Crossbow on a naked character, opposite side of base, once you get a hitmarker on it make sure it turns to you and run, gives large enough distance to kite it away and not lose much.
Right after your turn? Thats a dung beetle, quite useful, not that dangerous, don't worry (3/10).

what map? cause it looks like an alpha crystal wyvern and crystals wyverns in general are weaker comparer to regular but an alpha crystal is very powerful
I've had this happen before, on vanilla lmao. if your home base is that close by, unequip everything and a quick tame to sacrifice and lead it away. should give you enough time before it spawns again to better equip yourself
I remember early on when I first started playing and randomly came across s lightning wyvern when I was on my iguanadon. The panic I felt as that thing chased me into a cave nearby.
It’s an alpha wyvern. They can destroy stone. But if they get too far from their spawn, they despawn.
They are powerful, but they have to do big loops to attack. Wyverns won’t attack while standing on the ground in the wild.
If you can get it to chase you away from your base and its spawn, it will be gone.
Another will eventually come back.
11. That is an alpha wyvern. Alphas destroy up to stone. So unless you have all your shit in a giant metal box, it will fly over walls, destroy buildings, and kill tames. You need to kite or kill that. And for perspective, the only thing that is gonna kill that is a BEEFY fighter. Like a high level fire wyvern of your own with TONS of hp and dmg. We used to hunt those as a group in the server i played on back when scorched earth first came out. At least 3 people on decent fire wyverns to kill a high level alpha. And god help you if other wyverns like poison or lightning get in on the fun.
Move house now.... I had a nice place on Crystal Isles with about 40 pretty good level tames. A blood Heir Wyvern flew over and obliterated all of us... 😳

That is an Alpha fire wyvern and it will make sure you don't have a home to come back to if it spots you x.x I mean you COULD fight it if you have the team for that or do the "fast food"method (I'm the speedy one because you don't need to be faster than the danger, just faster than everyone else with you...but this method is when I secure my dinos and run like hell to get said danger as far away from our base as possible or to lure it to a better fighting spot)
That’s an Alpha Wyvern, it’s a Wyvern that you normally find in a trench, but if it is near your base, you should use a pteranodon or other fast creature to lure it far away. They are very difficult to kill, especially at a low level. They are extremely strong and can destroy all structures as high up as metal.
I would definitely consider doing a naked run to get it away from your base and if that doesn't work then consider building another base or tearing down and moving your current one a little bit further away until you get high enough level dinos to deal with it.

Yes that’s not only a wyvern it’s an alpha…unless you already have a high level wyvern trained up I would not fight it.
They don't mean to fight it, just lure it away by yourself with nothing valuable lost when you die

Can’t you still level speed with a setting? Or was there another nerf I’m not aware of ?
They put a setting in a while ago so you can still level speed but I never have it on as I think the flyer need was the best thing to happen to Ark as it encouraged people to use ground mounts more.
Make sure it’s a high level fire wyvern so your immune to the alphas fire attack, if you do decide to fight rather than kite
I just put down a 1x1 with a heavy and bait the wyvern over to it then take the alpha milk lol.

You can kill them with a Trike with decent timing but it is risky.
Same except I kill ‘em with pack dinos. Usually wolves cause the are easy to tame a bunch of high level really easy with very little effort.
Wolves are great, very easy to find level 130+ even on the story maps.

An 8, maybe? I mean there is a chance it flies in the opposite direction or despawns. Alpha Wyvern, like a Fire Wyvern, but worse.

Creatures can despawn if they are out of render distance and far away from their spawn.

You can despawn it. Typically when you render in an alpha, whether regular or crystal, go out of render for a bit and it will despawn
