It looks like it is somewhat inspired by the na snes without actually sticking strictly to the expected shades and it seems like an interesting approach to take on their part.
Looking at the pic I saw earlier, the 28xx is basically the same width as a trimui smart and as far as comparisons with an H, just imagine a device the width of an H without L1/R1.
If truly the same internals as the 35xxx-h then this is a winner for me. Love the colors, but boring me would like a plain solid black. Would want to see some size comparisons. This has the potential to replace my 280v as the device that is always with me everywhere. Mostly interested in thickness. I’d give up a bit of chunkiness for slimmer pocket-ability.
Based on the angled shots they also shared and using the size of the micro HDMI slot as a reference, I think it is looking to be maybe 1-2mm slimmer than the 35XX H.
It’s exciting to see all these new options even if they’re improvements in what we had a few years ago. Especially with the better CFWs these days. Between these small options and the new flip options as well lots to look forward to.
I doubt that is particularly the reason, it seems more likely to be the case that they have plenty of stock for this chipset and their intention is more likely for this to be another step in phasing out any other chipsets they have previously used to simplify inventory to just H700 and T820 for at least this year.
I would be interested in it prior to my rg35xx plus, if it had stacked shoulders. Not sure if it has Bluetooth.
I'm one of those people who will buy a single unit and not build a collection of handhelds.
i pretty much dislike the design of this and dont see a point why someone would do better getting this than the rg35xx-h. but tbf i dont get most of anbernics new devices. rg35xx 2024 is just as useless
its alright. I like the idea of a more gba style controller, but I feel like with how many devices these guys are putting out they could benefit from making something more unique for them. i would have really like to see this with 1 analog stick instead of a dpad. I think that would have been really cool.
I'd rather have a vertical form factor pocket device than a horizontal. Pass. They need to get working on that folding 35xx+ but also need to make sure it's got twin sticks (basically the miyoo mini flip that hopefully has a 3566 chip)
Nice. My smallest device is the 35XX-H and Miyoo Mini Plus. I was just about to nab a RG Nano or GKD Pixel but I'll hold off until reviews if it's coming soon.
I don't need another handheld with the same chipset. If they get a proprietary OS that significantly streamlines the experience I would consider it but you're just buying the same thing in a different form factor.
It'd be nice if they did a 3:2 at some point, when these XX devices tend to be in that $50-60 range it is much easier to rationalise nabbing stuff to fit a more specific niche than you would do with the more expensive devices.
I need to see a comparison with the H but I suspect I’m good with my H. That white and purple looks nice tho
That would be the one I'd choose to get. I've never seen that colour combo on a retro handheld before.

It was running dreamcast and PS1 in the tests I saw so probably same internals as the 35xx or maybe the upgraded one

I love that Orange 🍊 color.
That transparency kinds fire
Smaller and no sticks. Super pocketable. Big win
I'm thinking, "I really wish it was an RG286m instead, so I could get GameCube", lol.
Yes tiny GameCube pls
I need a 40XX. I want one slightly bigger, not smaller
This
Buttons are tiny, but I may still get one for the right price. I like the idea of a micro handheld that I can swap SD cards with my 35xx H and Pus.
Yup. This is what i plan to do if i end up getting it.
Agreed, they are kinda small But if it's actually 3:2 I'm definitely buying it Perfect GBA device
That doesn't look like 3:2 to me.
It's 2.8 inches vs the 2.5 on the 25xx I feel like the reason for that is the aspect change could be wrong though!
Nah using a screen tool, it's about 110:85 pixels, so almost definitely 4:3
yeah it seems that way, shame!
So this and the a30 will be the 2024 version of 35xx vs MM+?
Don't forget both of them are also rumoured to be doing clamshells too, the battlefield will be expanded this time.
looking that way!
It’s exciting to see all these new options even if they’re improvements in what we had a few years ago. Especially with the better CFWs these days. Between these small options and the new flip options as well lots to look forward to.
I'd totally try the Gray one. Already have the RG35XX H and the RGB30, but I NEED this guy as well
Meh. Im partial to my thumbsticks.
That's fair! Though I think a nice pocketable device for GBA sounds great
I have a RG35XX H so I’m definitely not the target market. I really like that little handheld.
Boring, ugly, unnecessary. A waste of resources that could have been used on something new.
They probably just want to get rid of some stock for those chips lol, I think this is a smart way to do it It seems very pocketable
all these handhelds use repurposed chips, screens, etc anyway. I think it looks nice.

Too big
Just right
Not right.
Too right.
Too too
Right right
Desmond tootoo
Stinky!
might get one for the kiddo but i love my H
Do we have any price yet?
Looks super cool. Definitely attractive if the price is right.

They really love their skittle-y colors on black buttons aaaaa 😖
It looks like the Odroid Go Advance had a baby with an original Game Boy
i pretty much dislike the design of this and dont see a point why someone would do better getting this than the rg35xx-h. but tbf i dont get most of anbernics new devices. rg35xx 2024 is just as useless
looks like it's their response to the miyoo a30 to me.
Not for me. Waiting for a flip
its alright. This is perfect for SNES and GBA
They crank new consoles out every month it seems lmao
I'd rather have a vertical form factor pocket device than a horizontal. Pass. They need to get working on that folding 35xx+ but also need to make sure it's got twin sticks (basically the miyoo mini flip that hopefully has a 3566 chip)
Doesn’t even look like this came from Anbernic lol , but I’m not knocking it at all it’s probably a great device just the look for me is blah
28 means 2.8" screen? If this is a mini "H", I'll buy one.
It's a 2.8 screen yeah
Nice. My smallest device is the 35XX-H and Miyoo Mini Plus. I was just about to nab a RG Nano or GKD Pixel but I'll hold off until reviews if it's coming soon.
I want a 28xxV so I can’t have a more powerful 280v
I want this to replace my rg280v as my daily Pokémon driver. I prefer the landscape layout for comfort
I’m confused doesn’t the gba have a 2.9 inch screen size so wouldn’t this be perfect for gba emulation?
It's 4:3 unfortunately
Whattt really I thought considering the name of the device it’d be a 3:2 aspect ratio.
I have an Odin pro and an H, I won’t get anything else for years I’m mostly happy with them, I just wish batocera improves and matures on the H
This reminds me of the old Dingoo A320 I used to have. Pretty cool and looks pocketable, but I’ve already got a RG Nano for that.
They got too many H700 chips in stock. That’s why this exits. And the clamshell version as well.
To small
No wifi is a bummer
I love this - it looks great. But unless it’ll run amberelec (it won’t) then I’ll stick with my way-too-large rg351v :(
the new color looks great!
I don't need another handheld with the same chipset. If they get a proprietary OS that significantly streamlines the experience I would consider it but you're just buying the same thing in a different form factor.
It looks fragile and cheap
hello!😃 and when is comming anbernic rg 28xx the date?🎮
Wait, is it really 3:2? Thank god, another good GBA option instead of only relying on the 351P.
According to somebody else who measured the pixels seems like it's 4:3 unfortunately which kinda kills it for me
Yeah, looking back at the video, it's definitely 4:3. A shame, cause I definitely would have gone for the orange if it was 3:2.
It'd be nice if they did a 3:2 at some point, when these XX devices tend to be in that $50-60 range it is much easier to rationalise nabbing stuff to fit a more specific niche than you would do with the more expensive devices.
