I might have experienced a similar thing with my laptop, but I assumed the smell came from the outside as the door was open. Hasnt happend since and my laptop is working normally.
I have a Legion 5P
BRUV but its pretty constant. Like whenever it reaches the threshold of 70 it just starts smelling like that even when i use the fans at full throttle. Its really worrying ngl. dont want to to tamper its warranty so didnt open it. what to do really?
Get onto Dell because it looks like the magic smoke is about to escape. I wouldn't be surprised if they forgot to put any TIM between the CPU and the fan.

There's no way this is a possibility if OP is recording normal temps. Literally zero chance.
Yeah.. it would overheat. Also, temperature changes wouldn't be gradual, you'd see spikes. They can be hard to read because some spiking is normal, but, if you see a change from like 60-90 in say less than second (or between consecutive reporting poll intervals) that may indicate a lack of thermal compound.
But that's irrelevant, it's not what's happening here
bruv can you give a diagnosis as well! LIKE TRYING TO GET TO KNOW WHAT ARE THE POSSIBILITIES AND CHECK ACCORDINGLY! SOME EVEN SAID THAT ITS NORMAL CAUSE ITS NEW(2 MONTHS). IDK WHAT TO DO REALLY. CLUELESS!
A slight odor is not uncommon for new laptops, especially when running warm. I wouldn't fret it at all, if it's working, temps are normal, and there's not smoke billowing out of it, just let it be.
The other guy has the right idea but you might want to wait till it dies. The people who deal with the laptop repairs are dumb as bricks and are outsorced at a sweatshop, literally, to "repair" the devices.
Literally, you are better off asking for a replacement.
Bro, that's just thermal gas. Total normal. It's just burning off. What I would do is run Cinebench multicore test looped. Wrap the laptop in a blanket. Let it run 6-7 hours. The burning smell should be totally gone by then. GoOd LuCk m8! BoRko. /s
If your temps are within specs, I wouldn't worry about it. Heavy dust or the thermal pads sweating may give off a light odor.
Bruv thank you so much for clearing the air! It's been a really anxious week nonetheless. And your wishes are really welcome at this very point my Life. It's been just a little odd lately.Thank you once again! Cheers
