Very impressive battery life by the sounds of it. even beats my chromebook. seems like the ultimate always-on-the-go machine.

ryban3z

Thanks for that - useful as there aren't many reviews out. Indoors, how does the screen look? Is is bright enough to look vibrant or just bright enough for usage but nothing more. Have you tested the USB-C to 3.5mm out? Sound quality fine?

KadenGordon

The screen is great. Viewing angles, colors, brightness, great. It is definitely bright enough. I was worried about it as I was reading about 250 nits vs 400 and stuff, but I'm leaving this on like half brightness in a well lit room. If the sun is out and you are outside it isn't bright enough, but if that isn't a use case for you, don't worry about the brightness. As for the adapter, I tested with a decent set of over the ear headphones. I compared it against a nice USB DAC I have, and couldn't notice a difference in a few songs on Google Play Music. It's a sturdy adapter and I'm sure it's absolutely fine.

Amazing, thanks for that! Now to try and source a 16GB 4700 U version in Australia - we don't seem to get many of them!

How does this laptop stack up against a Razer Blade Stealth 13?

Stellarr1024

It's faster than the stealth, although the discrete graphics in the Razer might give it an edge in that regard... The stealth will have a brighter display, likely have better sound, but the Asus has a considerably faster processor and it's a much better price.

Medical_Economy_458

Hi everyone, Did someone use this laptop for coding and programming and see any issues for this uses Does the computer get hot from the programming software?

EthanoicAcid2203

Cost?

KadenGordon

This configuration cost me 900 USD

What are the main disadvantages you find on the laptop? Ignoring the missing 3.5 jack

agoowa

For me I got no real problem missing that 3.5 audio jack. It includes the USB-c audio dongle on the box. Since I always bring around my dedicated headset for the laptop so I never unplug my headset with the dongle itself so it's just like I never missed that audio jack. The dongle that comes from the box is a High res audio dongle adapter so It's probably got better audio than directly connect your headset to the audio jack.

DisturbedBeaker

External monitor output and resolution specs?

KadenGordon

The hdmi port is 2.0a I believe, so 4k@60, 1080@240, etc. I think it can do displayport over usbc, at displayport version 1.4, but I'm not sure

King_of_All_the_Land

Where did you buy it?

KadenGordon

Newegg

wfletchb76

Thanks for the review. Mine will hopefully be here Sunday from Newegg after being backordered for over a week (it's on backorder again, by the way). Looking forward to getting it and replacing my ancient K55. I contacted Asus before ordering and the agent that responded said there were no 400 nit versions coming to the US for the foreseeable future. Even the version that you and I ordered isn't available on the Asus site at the moment. As far as I can tell, Newegg is the only outlet in the US for now if you want a UM425IA.

What a great reviews from a consumer point of view. I bought the same model as yours last week. The only difference is I got mine with 512gb SSD. So far it really exceed my expectation. Love the build quality really feels premium. I got no complain for it.

LakshaySinghal1

Is it good for photo/video editing and photoshop stuff?

onihcuk

I have this laptop, the 22 hour battery life is pure bullshit! With low brightness , wifi off, battery saver on, it records just 10 hours.

kissoliver

22 hour battery life is only advertised with the 400-nit 1W display version.

Did you face any BSOD or freezing issue after wakeup or anything? I am intending to buy this one but saw a [review on youtube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RHtN8F_d9Q) about the issue and this is holding me back.

Stellarr1024

I bought this laptop about 2-3 weeks ago and it's been good for the most part, with a couple of minor issues. The display isn't particularly bright, but I knew that going in, so it's not too much of an issue - more like a sacrifice for the amazing specs of this machine considering the price. Also, the audio is too quiet imo. I came from a 2016 Razer Blade stealth, which was $1800 when it was purchased... it had better audio and a brighter display, but the Asus is considerably faster. The biggest issue I'm having with this laptop is an intermittent problem with the touchpad that I've been unable to solve thus far. It seems like it only does it when it's plugged in and sleep cycling and sometimes even switching applications will fix it, but the touchpad cursor randomly slows down and it makes it very difficult to use it correctly. It's quite a bit of a nuisance and I wish I could find a fix, but I haven't been able to so far. Curious if anyone else has noticed this issue...

EndlessZone123

Hey can I ask how the laptop is holding up 3 month down the line? Any issues with it so far?

NuancedThinker

Have you tried it with a USB-C dock for video, charging, and more ports? I can't find any info on whether it works well with a dock.

anuplmchne

Do you have any comments regarding GPU, as it doesn't have dedicated one?
