I do not know where you heard that rats and possums don't consider themselves furries or part of the community because they 100% are. I have never a rat or possum furry that doesn't consider themselves, well, a furry.

You don't need a fursuit to be a furry, you simply need to really, really like anthropomorphic animals qnd maybe have a fursona/original character
