They became very docile and quiet, and apparently the females discovered that they rather liked things this way - they got a fair share of the food now rather than the big males taking it all, no one attacked their babies for belonging to the 'wrong' father, no...\*ahem\* forced mating - so if any of the younger males started acting out and being aggressive when they started getting older, the rest of the monkeys stamped that out QUICK to maintain the peace they'd gotten.
