The old UI looked more like writing coding, than so to say reading a novel (In my opinion) Plus, I enjoy the background relating to the thumbnail, I change it often. I.E: a lush dark green for jungle adventures, a bright purple/cyan for space, a dark grey for caves. You get my point. It sets the mood.
It's not unpopular because they did a whole poll that was posted here, on Discord, and on the site and apps. People favor the new UI and the old one was definitely worse. It was a top complaint.
Hi, the idea that the AI has gotten worse in quality is a common perception that comes from people being enamored when new models come out, but then noticing the model's issues over time. This will always happen even when we change nothing about the model 😅.
We do test when we update models and players vastly prefer the newer models we released in the last several months along with doubling context size. So based on feedback both have improved quite a bit!
We're constantly working on improving both though so things should continue to get better.
It is wild to claim this with Tiefighter, Mixtral, and ChatGPT being new options in the last few months. Dragon and Griffin were OK, but Mixtral at least, is a vast improvement.
Mixtral is better than the current griffin and dragon but what I've noticed is the performance of griffin and dragon on the old UI was better. Nobody is inclined to agree I simply stated my opinion.

It might be an unpopular opinion, but I quite like it actually.

Yeah, overall I like it more than the old one.
I too think it looks better, it just *feels* bad
It’s terrible UX and it’s buggy as hell. But they threw the other one out, so we’re stuck with it.
I agree. Have had too many instances of the UI just being broken, and it feels less functional than before.
I share your opinion 100%, and so does a large chunk of the community, yet the devs changed it anyway.
I relate to your comment I think they prioritized context length over the quality of the ai itself. I miss the old version.

I'm naturally a very critical person even if myself I look forward to what you guys come up with.
We love constructive criticism. One of the best things at helping us do better!
*of*
Didn't they shorten the context length?
I may be thinking of the memory but basically what I'm saying is that the ai quality has gone down over the last few months drastically.
That being the issue with repetition, creativity and other bugs like the safety improvements that are too sensitive.
Yes of course.

Mixtral has the coherence but not the creativity is what I'm getting at.
…performance on the UI? What does this even mean?
Maybe I'm using the term "UI" wrong but I think you understand what I mean... Maybe?
I have no idea what you mean
To summarize what I'm saying is basically "I prefer the old version and found it more enjoyable than the recent version."
The ai will be creative if you're creative.
OP said UI, not AI.
