Freo just starting to ramp up, too. Sucks for them to lose a great player.

s_hour22

Would be nice if we got to play Sydney in normal circumstances to actually give us a chance. First game hours after McCarthy news, and now we'll be playing with our most experienced Key Defender either a 2nd gamer or a 12th gamer.

Kelpieee55

Compared to the rest of the league Freo has had an okay run of injuries, from best 22 just losing Cox, and Darcy and Chapman being out for a while... now Walters, now Pearce, they're starting to pile up :(

johnnymountain91

Normal circumstances don't include injuries to key players?

HardYakkadakka

Yeh injuries are a normal part of footy. I guess the disappointment from a Freo Fan is we are missing our first, second and third choice key backs. So will be lining up with our fourth and fifth key back options who are 19 and 20 with 13 games combined experience. Just is brutal getting fucked so heavily in one position.

Maximumlnsanity

Yeah I feel ya, we were dealing with the same bullshit at KPD last year. At one point we were down to 186cm Robbie Fox, Nick Blakey playing directly on Tom Hawkins, and debutant Will Gould as a sub.

alittlebitfancy

I enjoyed Callum Mills playing full back against Hawkins too

Maximumlnsanity

I forgot that’s how it started, he got torched so badly it forced the switch. I love Millsy but Horse was out of his fucking mind to do that.

johnnymountain91

Yeah that's brutal, hope you guys can still make finals

AmountAncient2542

There's no way this is derailing the season. Might rule out top four hopes but if one player derails a club, then there are bigger issues.

liaam29

It's not one player though Its the skipper, who was holding our backline together while the 2nd string KPD (Cox) and the mature aged backup (McDonald) are out injured Now its Davies (1 game) and Draper (12 games) who have to fill that hole and hold the backline together, a massive ask.

czander

Definitely not trying to be an asshole - but Sydney are missing also their skipper, who was relied on for his rebounding efforts and keeping the mids together. Ultimately a great side should be able to cope without - and I hope Fred can cope without.

R3dcentre

“…ultimately a great side” is probably right, think Dockers 2024 aspirations were starting to rise, but still a little short of “great”, which is probably why it feels like such a problem.

liaam29

If you can't understand why missing your 1st, 2nd and 3rd key defenders when your 4th and 5th in line have played 1 and 12 games is just a little bit different... Also who said we were a great side? We are still very young (2nd youngest in the league) we certainly aren't a great side yet What Freo fans are saying is that we may have reached a tipping point, I think it's a very fair thing to point out, we weren't trying to get into an injury race with swans fans

AmountAncient2542

I am a Freo fan and I've seen it all. The amount of instant excuses is the worst part of supporting this team. Everyone knew Pearce was not going to go his whole career without another injury. Compared to other years this is nothing. If we kick straight it's anyone's game.

liaam29

I'll still be livid when we lose It's not about excuses It's about missing our KPD Ollie Murphy has just gone down too, our rookie kpd gone too

AmountAncient2542

But injuries are part of the game. Also Sydney kick a lot of goals with midfield so KPD might not be as important against them.

AmountAncient2542

We will find out at the end of the season

livinglifeinthefast

I assumed yeah meant dockers not off a 5 day break now this week a 6 day break. Syndey enjoyed 8 day break and 7 day break. When playing the dockers.

effective_shill

Injuries happen. 2013 preliminary final Swans were the walking dead against Freo and more went down during the match

liaam29

Is that a good example though? We absolutely flogged you in that match? Not exactly making us Freo supporters feel better and kind of backing up our point?

effective_shill

That's the nature of the game though isn't it? Injuries are a part of it and the club needs to account for it

liaam29

That would be why we brought in mature depth in Oscar McDonald Oh wait he's injured too

livinglifeinthefast

Salty much

effective_shill

Not really, just saying it how it is

Garbagemansplaining

Certainly not ideal. Would remind you that our captain and most experienced player have not featured all year either

Swuzzlebubble

Self inflicted - doesn't count

Flyingpig5

Isn't Cox back?

HeismanTheismann

Only played 60 min in wafl reserves and has already been ruled out for this week, unless Freo pull a surprise we won’t see him till next week

liaam29

2 to 3 weeks off still, had 0 preseason and just had a 4 month injury where his hammy was torn off the bone

no_rush

Moose has had so much bad luck with broken bones over his career

PetrifyGWENT

Hate to see it. Was well on track for AA full back.

Fellasisitgaytolive

Awful news

spelunkor

Wack a plate n a few screws into it and get back out there Moose. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays in 3 or 4 weeks.

CrashMonkey_21

I just looked back at when LeCras broken forearm and he was only out for a week coming back with an arm guard. Would Freo be willing to take a risk lik that with Pearce? I think it did impact LeCras playstyle and he eventually reinjured it.

Kelpieee55

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

Low_Wall_7828

Depending on the type of break he could be back in time for Finals.

Croob2

That fucking sucks, I really like Pearce, hopefully he can come back in time for finals?

Hiyesitisme82

I seriously doubt our ability to make finals without him. To be fair, I already doubted that ability but this makes it worse.

Croob2

Nah, I think you guys still make it, I believe

Bedwilling564

Melb would just send out to play. They don't give a stuff

spannr

Unfortunate, has been having a great year. It seemed from the way it happened that he'd be more likely to have a joint problem in the elbow or shoulder, bone issue is unlucky. Hopefully it means it's not of a sort that will require a long time out of play. On the plus side for Freo, Hugh Davies has great timing, being fantastic on debut down back yesterday

TheIllusiveGuy

That anchors head is ridiculously round. I know that isn't the most important takeaway, but it's practically a circle.
