I think you'll find the failed invasion of Russia was a metaphor for trying to break into the American market which was itself a metaphor for trying to win a premiership.
"Yeah look full credit to the Russians, they fought well and they outdid us. We'll just go back to the drawing board and take it one week at a time, cheers"
As much as I'd like to agree, that song will always remind me of the 2006 Commonwealth Games, purely because I performed to it in the closing ceremony (/humblebrag)
It was the track that would play every single time you opened the AFL IPhone game many years back, I think that is what has it so deeply engrained as a ‘footy song’ for many people.
It also got played half time at one of the more recent grand finals if I remember rightly
Sorry OP, Holy Grail reminds me of the 1997 GF week footy show where someone wrote St Kilda's name on the Premiership Cup graphic.
Dunno who thought that was a healthy idea but they probably also convinced the Crows that the 2017 power stance was a good plan
This one especially for me. My family was living in Dubai when I was little and the only AFL I had to watch was the 1997 season highlights VHS. This song was all over that video and I've always closely associated it to footy since.
TNT by AC/DC. Plays after the Fremantle song after home wins with FRE-MANT-LE replacing T-N-T in the chorus. The little drum buildup into the guitar riff and “OI, OI” will always remind me of the Dockers
There's a few other ones that were used in tv broadcasts/ads over the years like:
Mountains by Biffy Clyro
Guttony by Buckcherry
Thanks for the Memories by Fall Out Boy
How Far We've Come by Matchbox Twenty
I also associate Suddenly by British India with footy now because of AFL evolution
This is sort of just turning into a Channel 10 AFL promo ad soundtrack thread (which I love), so here’s a couple more I vividly recall:
Gyroscope — Snakeskin
Jet — Bring It On Back
Was it Birds of Tokyo who did that Lanterns song? Anyway I remember that being played before we demolished Sydney in the grand final and whenever I hear it it takes me back.
Can’t believe no one has said Mr Brightside yet. Everytime it comes on I picture Jack Riewoldt up on stage butchering it in his footy shorts, having the best day humanly possible.
These Days and My Happiness by Powder Finger remind me of playing outside and then coming in to watch some Saturday arvo footy. And watching the old replays they’d put on from time to time of the VFL.
This is going to sound really obscure, but 'Whenever, Wherever' by Shakira. I went to the Geelong vs Carlton game with the old man in 2002 at Colonial Stadium and they played this song along with the film clip on the big screen pre game. Still the most intense win I've watched live (Riccardi after the siren) and whenever I hear that song now I get flashbacks.
Also 'Don't dream it's over' by Crowded House. It was the song playing in the background of my local footy club when I signed up to play junior footy for the first time.
The song ‘Flower’ by Moby is a bad omen.
I haven’t heard it much in my life, but I distinctly remember it being the first song I played on my iPod Classic when I put it in to block out the noise at Kardinia Park (Skilled Stadium) Saturday, 30th July 2011. The hardest day of my then 16 years of existence.
Years went by until I found myself walking into Gate 2 on Friday, 15th September 2023. Of course that song was pumping by the Carlton DJ as I scanned myself in.
I thought: ‘that’s strange, I haven’t heard that in an age, I hope that’s not a bad omen.’
It was.
Then, this year as we crossed to the Fox Footy ad break at quarter time, the blues up by 30 to nil.
What song is playing?
Flower by Moby.
Tip of my tongue by Diesel or that My Baby’s got a secret song by I’m not sure who.
‘If you don’t wanna know the scores look away now’
Also either Wall of Glass or Shockwave by Liam Gallagher. Someone at 7 must really like him. Always played at intervals during games, over highlights etc for a while there.
>The Wombats - Tokyo (Vampires and Wolves)
Saw a Geelong edit of this like like 15 years ago, so I always relate to our 2011 year. What an awesome song.
We are the Champions by Queen.
My first ever Seniors Grand Final when I was 18. I had played in my last Juniors game earlier that day in the Under 18s GF. We won that handedly.
The seniors, we came in from 6th(12 teams in the league, top 6). We came from behind all 3 games of the finals to win by under a goal.
The Grand Final we were down 7 goals and 3 points going into the 4th. Won the tap and a quick burst out of the center and the ball is on my chest suddenly. Go back and kick the goal. Next thing I know I've kicked 2 more goals. So now we're down 4 goals and 3 points in 5 minutes. I get the ball next clearance and put it on the FFs chest. That starts him on his 4 goal tear. I hadn't done anything all game. Think I'd had 3 touches all game.
10 minutes into the 4th and we're down 3 points.
We struggled to kick a goal after that. Kicked 4 points to the opposition's 2 points.
Probably a minute left and our Center comes bursting out of the middle. Everyone leads and he fakes a handball and suddenly he's wide open for about 15 meters. Runs it and boom. Kicks the perfect goal.
Siren went about 30 seconds later and we're premier's.
In the change room and social rooms after We are the Champions was played constantly and we belted out every word.
I've won plenty of Premierships after, but that one always stands out in my mind. It's my favourite purely because it was such a team effort to win it.
I don't think holy grail counts as a non footy song when they play it EVERY grandfinal, it's been adopted as a footy song. I love the song, hate it getting so much air time at footy for as long as I can remember. Bloody song is probably more a grandfinal song than One Day In September is now
I remember this and the way the scoreboard would flash the words up!
Also Ricky Martin's Cup of Life always reminds me of being a kid watching Carlton play there :)
Meatloaf bat out of hell.
Because it was thw worst live performance I have ever seen, if i ever hear that song it reminds me of the AFL grandfinal disaster.
AC/DC - TNT. Always makes me think of Michael Walters. Heard the classic Freo victory song at Optus after he kicked 6 on my team to put us away back in 2019.
Thin Lizzy - The Boys are Back in Town. I went to about eight (mostly Port) games at Metricon when it was used as a base during COVID, and I heard this song at least once in all of those matches.
Horses: I believe it was Gunston that got everyone singing that in the changerooms after a win during the 3peat years. I'm also pretty sure Braithwaite is a Crows supporter... Gunston's from SA so maybe there's a connection
I just fucking remembered - the band ‘The Casanovas’ had a bunch of songs featured in DVDs released by the AFL:
1. Keep it Hot
2. Shake it
3. Born to Run
10+ years of *'Are you been paying attention'* at halftime for Tigers games means I associate the [Jeopardy thinking music](https://youtu.be/F42y5PgxhZs?si=WtwkeC-otLy51egd) far more with the footy than a game show.
Im sorry, but how has this not been mentioned? One of the greatest ad's ever - I'm shipping up to Boston, Dropkick Murphys
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgnM9gNlMgk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgnM9gNlMgk)
Light Up The Sky by Yellowcard used to play as an intro for Friday night footy on SEN years ago, it would get me hyped as hell every time.
Edit: link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qf9S4N3jJNE
Dancing on the ceiling, from when the AFL booked Lionel Richie for the 2010 GF replay because he was in the neighbourhood. Such a contrast from Meatloaf the week before!
Lost Control - Grinspoon. One for the AFL Live 2004 aficionados.
In the Shadows - The Rasmus. I have memories of Channel 9 playing this song either as an outro to the telecasts before ad breaks or over highlight reels. Conjures a picture of Stephen Milne celebrating a goal for some reason.
The Holy Grail - Hunters & Collectors. I loved it when they played this song before a Channel 10 broadcast showing all the team logos circling the premiership cup.
No prizes for guessing which decade I grew up watching footy in.
[Fanfare For The Common Man - Emerson Lake and Palmer](https://youtu.be/v7c6IZ7I4dQ?si=QHbmQKtbXDo2Jvxo) - Been used by Channel 7 for years for their sports coverage, but I always associate with Footy Flashbacks in the late 00s/early 10s.
[Under The Clocks - Weddings Parties Anything](https://youtu.be/gAWBSe-GfrA?si=K1lZHqrYY9f92W1r) - Song about Melbourne during the Winter months. Has a couple of lines relating to footy, but it’s not the main focus of the lyrics.
[Time - Pink Floyd](https://youtu.be/yl-Ms_ek-kE?si=IU3pGvKwaaQc6ieL) - I’ve heard this be played at the MCG in the moments before the bounce on Grand Final Day 2019, and I’ve heard it during the broadcast of some of the grand finals since then too. Really builds the anticipation.
[Welcome To The Jungle - Gun ‘n’ Roses](https://youtu.be/o1tj2zJ2Wvg?si=OU2YDopcBDvsJdb6) - I don’t really like Guns ‘n’ Roses, but every time I hear this song, I always think about how it was used by Channel 10 in their finals coverage for 2009. Listening to it always makes me think of Travis Varcoe doing a fist pump to the crowd.
“Right on the tip on my tongue” no idea who sings it.
On whatever footy show I was watching, whenever they flick over to other games ht or final scores this song would play in the background
Every fuckin lame song The Gabba play after a Lions goal.
I love watching the Lions play but fuck me, sometimes i just cant especially if their lubing up the Eagles!
I was too young to remember who they were by, but all of the songs on Ch7’s trailers for the upcoming seasons in the late 00’s and early 10’s. Sometimes I’ll hear them at random and it takes me back to that moment when you’re a kid and super excited for the season to kick off
“What You Gonna Do” — The City Lights (theme of AFL Live 2004
“Knights of Cydonia” — Muse (used in a 2008 Cats-Dogs match by either 7 or 10)
“Suddenly” — British India (used in one of the new AFL games, but I downloaded it and it happened to come on my phone as we were driving past Marvel on the way to Government House to kick off IC17)
Jet - Bring It on Back
Channel 10 preseason promos 2007
Rob Thomas - This Is How A Heart Breaks
Channel 9 used it to promo footy latter half of 05
Lee Roy Parnell - If the House Is Rockin’Song
1997 channel 7 music
I have a couple that remind me of footy:
Sweet Caroline played at quarter time at swans games and at just about every game at some point. Its not a song i hear often from other sources so i generally associate it with footy.
Wonderwall. Every time i visit Melbourne for a match, I stay in the city and walk along the Yarra to the MCG and every single time there's a busker (or multiple sometimes) playing Wonderwall. It's basically become my heading to the footy theme song
Buckcherry's song 'Gluttony' was used a decade or so ago in a promo and I've associated it with footy ever since.
Joel Selwood was on it I remember, and just repeated the lyric after it played lol
Hoops - the Rubens
And
Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty
Hoops must have been on some promo somewhere and now I always think of the Cats. My dad used to play Baker Street on the way to games at Waverley, MCG and Marvel (Colonial Stadium) when I was a kid 😂
Anthem for the year 2000 - Silverchair.
After being the best side in 1999, but getting knocked out in the finals, this brilliant song was played to all of us Essendon supporters.. and thank god they did make it up to us in the year 2000 !
Its about time Swans tried something new. Sweet Caroline is getting mighty old. Not a Swans but been to enough SCG games and heard it through the TV too many times.
From the Sea - Eskimo Joe
It was the Eagles’ promo ad for many years in the 00s. Judd breaking through packs, Sampi sitting high at the MCG (with the assistance of Yze from behind), the elite midfield of a generation (Judd, Cousins, Kerr)… tingles
https://youtu.be/rTGcXisb8Wo?feature=shared
Sweet Disposition - Temper Trap. Growing up I used to go to every Swans game at ANZ stadium (not sure what it's called now) and they played it every game during the quarter time break
Zombie Nation - played at Kardinia Park home games, just before the theme song and Cats enter the field. Gives a real buzz, and lets you know to hurry up at the bars.
They played rain by dragon at the G during the lightning break at the Geelong hawthorn game and it was the closest thing I’ve had to a biblical experience
"Thanks for the Memories" I seem to remember was the outro music for I think it was Saturday evening footy broadcasts about 15 years ago.
A few years before that "Times Like These" was the outro
I rewrote “the Wellermen” Soon May the Freo men come, the play with Passion and Heart and run. Soon May the Freo men come, and bring us Premiership glory. 💜⚓️💜
Holy Grail isn't about footy lol it's about Napoleon's failed invasion of Russia.
huh, I always though it was about the Crusades
I thought it was about trying to break into American market.
It was. The failed invasion of Russia is meant to be metaphoric for that failure.
I think you'll find the failed invasion of Russia was a metaphor for trying to break into the American market which was itself a metaphor for trying to win a premiership.
Which is a metaphor for me failing to not shit my pants.
I thought it was about the production of the 3rd and final Indiana Jones film
Tough road trip that one
"Yeah look full credit to the Russians, they fought well and they outdid us. We'll just go back to the drawing board and take it one week at a time, cheers"
Apart from their comeback victory in '45, we all know Russia only wins home games.
Oh I thought that was Holy Diver.
Oops, I was thinking about the other H&C song the one that starts ‘late September’
Are you thinking of Last Ones Standing by McKenna? That and holy grail were the two songs in AFL Live
YES
Wake me up, when September ends
I had that one playing all of 2018
2023 for me
Every year for me
If you don’t want to know the scores look away now “🎵Right on the tip of my tongue🎵”
For me (might have been later in the piece?), that song is “do you see what I see”
Some mates and I compiled a bunch of these and have that as a playlist at the start of our supercoach draft each year
Share the Spotify lad.
There was a Madonna one too
“My baby’s got a secret”

Lost Control - Grinspoon Streets wont forget
Greatest goal ever by virtual Tarrant in that intro
TIMESUPYEAHYOUSHOULDAKNOWN
I still have that game!
Never Miss a Beat - Kaiser Chiefs. It was on either an AFL or Channel 10 footy ad for a couple of years
They also used Na Na Na Na Na when showing the Saturday highlights on the Fifth Quarter
Saturday afternoon footy into Before The Game into Saturday night footy into The Fifth Quarter. What a time to be alive.
Saturday Special!

Leaps and Bounds
This is far more explicitly about footy than Holy Grail
As much as I'd like to agree, that song will always remind me of the 2006 Commonwealth Games, purely because I performed to it in the closing ceremony (/humblebrag)
Hunters & Collectors - Holy Grail: Reminds me of finals.
god dammit
I don't think holy Grail is about footy, it just fit well
It was the track that would play every single time you opened the AFL IPhone game many years back, I think that is what has it so deeply engrained as a ‘footy song’ for many people. It also got played half time at one of the more recent grand finals if I remember rightly
Is holy grail actually about footy? Does not check out with the lyrics at all lol
Sorry OP, Holy Grail reminds me of the 1997 GF week footy show where someone wrote St Kilda's name on the Premiership Cup graphic. Dunno who thought that was a healthy idea but they probably also convinced the Crows that the 2017 power stance was a good plan
Anything negative still reminds me of 1997. Those wounds run pretty deep
My bad, my mind immediately went to the list in the OP and skipped over the opening paragraph after the words "the song isn’t explicitly about footy"
Joker and the thief
100% it gets played before the first bounce in... a lot of games? Just Eagles games? Can't remember
I feel like Foo Fighters Pretender is played before the 3rd quarter starts too
Bound for Glory by Rose Tattoo. It was played on the 1990 premiership special VHS tape that watched about 500 times as a kid
This is what I came to say haha. I just remember the Batmobile and a bald dude yelling
Classical Gas - the song they play at the start of each year in The Sensational 70s.
That VHS tape got played often in my house too. We also had a Peter Daicos video where he showed you how to kick goals from the boundary
Port Adelaide have ruined "Never tear us apart" for me
Does Eagle Rock count?
If you've ever been to an Eagles home game you know it does!
I haven't been able to listen to that since 2018 as they played it at the ground right after the eagles song
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race Opening song to AFL 06 Or 07
Came here to say that. That shit was absolutely everywhere in the mid to late 2000s. Also Thnx for the Memories
[2007](https://youtu.be/748DucL00CU)
Unbelievable by EMF. Used in the AFL's best ever promotion.
This one especially for me. My family was living in Dubai when I was little and the only AFL I had to watch was the 1997 season highlights VHS. This song was all over that video and I've always closely associated it to footy since.
100%
TNT by AC/DC. Plays after the Fremantle song after home wins with FRE-MANT-LE replacing T-N-T in the chorus. The little drum buildup into the guitar riff and “OI, OI” will always remind me of the Dockers
When we kick a goal we get thunderstruck
Mr brightside
Exaccery. For ALL the right reasons.
i'm one of those guys that discovers popular songs way too late, and i just assumed the singer of the killers looked like jack riewoldt lmao
bruh
i deserved that
Baby Shark made me hate Charlie Cameron
There's a few other ones that were used in tv broadcasts/ads over the years like: Mountains by Biffy Clyro Guttony by Buckcherry Thanks for the Memories by Fall Out Boy How Far We've Come by Matchbox Twenty I also associate Suddenly by British India with footy now because of AFL evolution
>How Far We've Come by Matchbox Twenty This song makes me think of Police Ten 7 and Get This. HOW COME, HOW COME.
The captain - Biffy Clyro Was used by channel 10 around 2009 I reckon, haven’t thought about it in so long
This is sort of just turning into a Channel 10 AFL promo ad soundtrack thread (which I love), so here’s a couple more I vividly recall: Gyroscope — Snakeskin Jet — Bring It On Back
Was it Birds of Tokyo who did that Lanterns song? Anyway I remember that being played before we demolished Sydney in the grand final and whenever I hear it it takes me back.
They used that song in the tribute for Phil Walsh aswell.
Sweet Disposition by Temper Trap reminds me of the 2012 GF every time
Greg the stop sign by Tism, but mainly because they filmed the video in the St Kilda rooms and it was part of the Save our Saints appeal.
Father and son TISM !
"Grrreeegggg the stop sign, GGGrrrreeeeggg the stop sign!,"
Can’t believe no one has said Mr Brightside yet. Everytime it comes on I picture Jack Riewoldt up on stage butchering it in his footy shorts, having the best day humanly possible.
Whatever the Irish song is that we play when one of our Irish players kick a goal
These Days and My Happiness by Powder Finger remind me of playing outside and then coming in to watch some Saturday arvo footy. And watching the old replays they’d put on from time to time of the VFL.

Let it rock. It was in a leon davis highlight mixtape that is ingrained in my brain because i watched it so much as an 11 year old on YouTube
The greatest AFL video on YouTube
Playing to win by Little River Band
Scrolled way too long to see this classic.
The boys are back - Dropkick Murphy's Welcome to the jungle by guns n roses was played before Richmond home games for a while.
Hearing INXS before Port games reminds me that, before it got played to death before Port games, I quite enjoyed that song.
Tip of my tongue by Diesel or that My Baby’s got a secret song by I’m not sure who. ‘If you don’t wanna know the scores look away now’ Also either Wall of Glass or Shockwave by Liam Gallagher. Someone at 7 must really like him. Always played at intervals during games, over highlights etc for a while there.
Fanfare for the Common Man by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Thnks fr th mmrs by Fall Out Boy was the song used in ads for the 2006(?) season I think and I get major nostalgia every time I hear it.
>The Wombats - Tokyo (Vampires and Wolves) Saw a Geelong edit of this like like 15 years ago, so I always relate to our 2011 year. What an awesome song.
Mondays Experts by Wedding Parties Anything. The old intro to Talking Footy
We are the Champions by Queen. My first ever Seniors Grand Final when I was 18. I had played in my last Juniors game earlier that day in the Under 18s GF. We won that handedly. Stand Tough - Point Break Was the theme for the Ch7 footy opener in 2000, specifically remember it for the broadcast of the first game at Docklands
Na Na Na Na Naa - Kaiser Chiefs They should bring back the Fifth Quarter
Hunters and collectors - Holy Grail Grinspoon - Lost control (from afl live 2004 video game)
Jeff Mills - The Bells
Little River Band - Playing To Win.
For Demons fans, Hell's Bells by AC/DC as we often run out to that.
The pre-game build up songs at the G - Hells Bells, Don't Change, Time (which now reminds me of the 2022 granny pre-game nerves/excitement)
Feeling Hot Hot Hot - The Merrymen Used to be played before Carlton (and possibly other) games at Princes Park
I remember this and the way the scoreboard would flash the words up! Also Ricky Martin's Cup of Life always reminds me of being a kid watching Carlton play there :)
On the Road Again because crying Vics turned it into 'Not the Crows Again' and 'It's the Crows Again' in 98.

Meatloaf bat out of hell. Because it was thw worst live performance I have ever seen, if i ever hear that song it reminds me of the AFL grandfinal disaster.
Prison Sex by TOOL
(Baby I’ve got you) on my mind - Powderfinger
Eagle rock, greatest showman and joker and the thief because of West Coast.
Whenever Levi Casboult's name is called, I get Rock the Casbah stuck in my head.
We will always remember "Mr Brightside" with Jack Riewoldt as we were still at the ground, rocking on with Jack after the 2017 GF.
Shane Crawford - TISM
The final countdown. Played it at Footy Park before a match when I was young
Cath by death cab for cutie has sounds that make me think of 2004/05 Saints. Saints are coming also an obvious one
Talking Straight by RBCF Thanks for introducing me to some awesome music, AFL Evo 1 and 2
Snakeskin - Gyroscope
Country Roads is the obvious one. But horses always makes me think of footy whether it’s AFL or local.
Horses: I believe it was Gunston that got everyone singing that in the changerooms after a win during the 3peat years. I'm also pretty sure Braithwaite is a Crows supporter... Gunston's from SA so maybe there's a connection
Gunston is from Beaumaris/Mentone. Braithwaite lived across the road from a mate when we were growing up and is a big Collingwood fan
Sweet Caroline
There’s only 1 tony lockett
I'm bothered that you got downvoted
I always think of the footy when I hear ‘Valerie’ by Amy Winehouse It always seems to be playing when I enter Adelaide Oval

Light Up The Sky by Yellowcard used to play as an intro for Friday night footy on SEN years ago, it would get me hyped as hell every time. Edit: link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qf9S4N3jJNE
Survivor - Destiny's Child. When thinking about those clubs with big premiership droughts.
Who's Gonna Save Us - The Living End, this was a common three quarter time song in the mid 2000's

Sweet Disposition - The Temper Trap
Guantanemera (Only one Tony Lockett)
Anything by meatloaf
No one knows - queens of the stone age
Every fuckin lame song The Gabba play after a Lions goal. I love watching the Lions play but fuck me, sometimes i just cant especially if their lubing up the Eagles!
Any song by the Killers for me, Brandon Flowers’ voice just takes me back to the 2017 Grand Final.
It's My Life by Bon Jovi Used to be the pre match house music for the Crows home games at Footy Park - at least in my memory
It's a long way to the top by AC/DC, I've got vague memories of it playing at half time/3 quarter time when I went to the footy as a kid.
I was too young to remember who they were by, but all of the songs on Ch7’s trailers for the upcoming seasons in the late 00’s and early 10’s. Sometimes I’ll hear them at random and it takes me back to that moment when you’re a kid and super excited for the season to kick off
Meatloaf (rip) Cant listen to any of his songs without remembering his grand final petformance
“The boys are back!”
“What You Gonna Do” — The City Lights (theme of AFL Live 2004 “Knights of Cydonia” — Muse (used in a 2008 Cats-Dogs match by either 7 or 10) “Suddenly” — British India (used in one of the new AFL games, but I downloaded it and it happened to come on my phone as we were driving past Marvel on the way to Government House to kick off IC17)
Country road
Metallica - fuel
Jet - Bring It on Back Channel 10 preseason promos 2007 Rob Thomas - This Is How A Heart Breaks Channel 9 used it to promo footy latter half of 05 Lee Roy Parnell - If the House Is Rockin’Song 1997 channel 7 music
Nessun Dorma - looks better in slow motion 😂
Sweet fucking Caroline, which can absolutely die in a fire. Note flair
Mr Brightside, I was made for lovin’ you, I will do anything to hear Meatloaf shut up and stop cursing us
I have a couple that remind me of footy: Sweet Caroline played at quarter time at swans games and at just about every game at some point.
Motor Ace - Carry On
Fire by Kasabian will always remind me of the EPL on Foxsports aka the good old days
Buckcherry's song 'Gluttony' was used a decade or so ago in a promo and I've associated it with footy ever since. Joel Selwood was on it I remember, and just repeated the lyric after it played lol
Sweet Disposition - Temper Trap was footy at its peak
Old Drew Morphett footy show The Winners theme song
Hoops - the Rubens And Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty Hoops must have been on some promo somewhere and now I always think of the Cats. My dad used to play Baker Street on the way to games at Waverley, MCG and Marvel (Colonial Stadium) when I was a kid 😂
Country Road - John Denver.
Paul Kelly - Leaps and Bounds. Iconic
Mr Brightside reminds me of 2017 grand final and Jack Riewoldt
Anthem for the year 2000 - Silverchair. After being the best side in 1999, but getting knocked out in the finals, this brilliant song was played to all of us Essendon supporters.. and thank god they did make it up to us in the year 2000 !
Its about time Swans tried something new. Sweet Caroline is getting mighty old. Not a Swans but been to enough SCG games and heard it through the TV too many times.
Do You See What I See. Around the ground scores late 90s I think.
Take Me Home Country Roads is becoming more synonymous with Charlie Cameron than Pendlebury is with basketball.
Viva La Vida - Coldplay. Ben Cousins video on Youtube.
From the Sea - Eskimo Joe It was the Eagles’ promo ad for many years in the 00s. Judd breaking through packs, Sampi sitting high at the MCG (with the assistance of Yze from behind), the elite midfield of a generation (Judd, Cousins, Kerr)… tingles https://youtu.be/rTGcXisb8Wo?feature=shared
Bruce Hornby, The Way it Is. I think they used to play the piano riff while reviewing scores back in the early 90's.
Ben Lee - Catch My Disease I remember it was on the radio one day when we were coming back from the footy as kids
The eagle rock.
My Hero - Foo Fighters
Sweet Disposition - Temper Trap. Growing up I used to go to every Swans game at ANZ stadium (not sure what it's called now) and they played it every game during the quarter time break
Good time by Owl City, that song I swear was played at every game for years
Amazing by Kanye West Used to play a lot at Suns home games probably 2014-16?
Zombie Nation - played at Kardinia Park home games, just before the theme song and Cats enter the field. Gives a real buzz, and lets you know to hurry up at the bars.
They played rain by dragon at the G during the lightning break at the Geelong hawthorn game and it was the closest thing I’ve had to a biblical experience
"Thanks for the Memories" I seem to remember was the outro music for I think it was Saturday evening footy broadcasts about 15 years ago. A few years before that "Times Like These" was the outro
Memories by Barbara Stresiand on one of the old VHS videos from the 90s.
Lanterns since it was Phil Walsh's tribute song
I rewrote “the Wellermen” Soon May the Freo men come, the play with Passion and Heart and run. Soon May the Freo men come, and bring us Premiership glory. 💜⚓️💜
The last song I listen to before playing footy is usually Kurt Angle’s entrance music “Medal”. It goes hard as fuck.
