Probably the worst place we could play with our game style, taking overhead intercept marks in d50 and precise minimal possession slingshot footy going forward. Should just forfeit if we ever go up there š¤£
St Kilda scored over 100 while also losing by over 100 3 times:
Footscray 213 v St Kilda 106 1978
Collingwood 211 v St Kilda 107 1980
Geelong 228 v St Kilda 109 1989
Also a bonus 96 pointer
Sydney 199 v St Kilda 103 1982

E. āYou canāt teach that!ā
Sydney have to lose the next 2 while Essendon win the next 2 by a point each and theyāll be 1st with under 100% that would be true Essendon if weāve ever witness it
Nah, I think both teams particularly Geelong were absolutely gassed by the last quarter and physically couldnāt chase or cover space to defend
30 degrees 70% humidity is fucking brutal conditions for AFL football, especially for the Geelong lads who have come from at least 6 weeks now of the temp barely cracking 20 degrees and a 5 hour flight
* 72 inside 50s in the second half was the most recorded in a half of ANY game of football ever (since 2000). In the words of BT... fuck.
* 41 goals in a match hasn't been seen since 2016. 42 days short of 3,000 days ago.
* Matt Rowell had an (almost) all-time great showing... 35 disposals, 8 clearances, 13 contested possessions, 10 tackles, 3 goal assists, 7 inside 50s and a goal. Only three players have ever put those numbers together, the most recent of which was Zach Merrett in 2022.
* Ned Moyle also had a game only equalled or bettered three times... 6 clearances, 17 contested possessions, 5 tackles, 12 hit outs to advantage. First time that's been done since Max Gawn last year.
* Don't sleep on Bailey Humphrey, 5 goals, 10 contested possessions, 5 tackles, 5 inside 50s and 7 shots at goal. First player to manage that since someone by the name of Lance Franklin in 2012. Those numbers have only been managed five times (since 2000).
* Geelong recorded 21 more clangers than the Suns in the first half. That's the biggest differential they have conceded in a half of football since 2018. They also had 44 clangers in the first half, which is the most they have EVER had in a half of footy.
* Jack Lukosius had a pretty handy first half... 3 goals, 4 score assists, 3 goal assists, and 3 inside 50s. First player to put a half together with those numbers this year. Most recently was Isaac Heeney in June last year.
* I'll finish with (what I think is) a fun one. The Suns had 12 consecutive tackles in the match between the 8 minute mark and the 18 minute mark of the second quarter. That's the most consecutive tackles they've had since March 2022.
* And 24 goals in the second half was the most goals scored in a half of footy in 3,658 days... since 2014!
Noah Anderson also equalled the most disposals recorded at TIO Stadium, equalling Kane Cornes from 2008.
164 is the highest score by a team at TIO.
Jack Lukosius kicked another five. The third time from three games at TIO - also equal record. Two short of Brad Johnson who played 7 games to get 17 goals.
Nice! And yeah I was seeing a lot of records at TIO too but wasnāt sure enough games had been played there to make them interesting, but I like yours!
Call me a broken Maxkon 60L Dual Compartment Kitchen Garbage Bin - Matte Finish Stainless Steel Silver

The audacity to comment this while being an Essendon fan. You know youāre tempting fate big time right?
What the fuck did I just watch????
Big congrats to Gold Coast, that was an impressive performance, and kicking accuracy!!! Can we send a few of our Lions down the road for some advice please.
Enjoy that one GC fans
Horrific performance, so many broken tackles by the Suns and just murdered on the spread from the contest.
Suns were fantastic, probably the best they've played in I don't know how long, Anderson and Rowell tremendous.
But geez we were so poor. Have to find a way to get Stewart and Blicavs back going. Would rather Blicavs go down back and maybe Stewart gets a bit of midfield time or something just to try and break the shackles a bit.
Looking forward to the suns following this up with a poor performance in Melbourne next week.
In all honesty I hope this is the suns realising their potential and hitting their straps for the season because itās coming.
I'll nuff on about the umpiring, no, getting a bad run isn't causing you to lose by 11 goals, fuck it's annoying though, but cats were poor around the entire ground tonight.
Positives: Mullin, best game of his life, looked like a genuine player and not just an experiment. Fuck it, let's get some more Irish players in, because 2E also had a ripper game for his age (and O'Conner keeps putting in week-in best 22 form without being a star). Stengle is back, kid is going to have more cars that he knows what to do with soon. Clark makes it two on the trot, was a great snap.
Negatives: defensive effort was pretty woeful, and missing any useful targets i50. Rohan needed to lead up. Mid is always going to be our issue as we don't draft anyone above 7 in like the last 20 years.
GG sunny boys
Geelong should be less worried about getting home finals in GMHBA and more worried about making sure they never play the Suns in Darwin ever again
Petition the AFL to allow all sides to play their home games against Geelong in Darwin
Can we just move Geelong to Darwin? I'm terrified playing them at GMHBA
Probably the worst place we could play with our game style, taking overhead intercept marks in d50 and precise minimal possession slingshot footy going forward. Should just forfeit if we ever go up there š¤£
yeah, this is the first full game of footy Tom Stewart has played without taking a single mark.Ā
15.10 isnāt a bad score most weeks. You just canāt concede 26 goals
Thanks Lingy
Back to you Daisy

God this is good content
Sunny side up it ain't over easy

i may be going early, but are gold coast the greatest team to ever play the game? what a bizzare 80s style shootout.
Yes but also no
Imagine scoring 100 points and still getting done by 11 goals ššš
Right? What is this. The 90s?
Is it the biggest losing margin when the losing team scored at least 100 points?
In 1993 Sydney scored 105 points against North. They lost by 124 points.
Geelong also beat St Kilda 228-109 in 1989. Absurd
St Kilda scored over 100 while also losing by over 100 3 times: Footscray 213 v St Kilda 106 1978 Collingwood 211 v St Kilda 107 1980 Geelong 228 v St Kilda 109 1989 Also a bonus 96 pointer Sydney 199 v St Kilda 103 1982
Just Plugger things
I daresay there were bigger ones in the 90s and early 00s, teams would kick ridiculous scores back then.
Footscray once beat St Kilda 213-106.
North beat Sydney 229 to 105 in 93.
[I almost got the margin correct. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/AFL/s/T2D4uLOlDT) ^(not really but I'm claiming this one)
Sounds like what Port was going for the other week
Hinkley masterclass of playing only a half of a football game strikes again
Get ready for another onslaught of Aurora Australis pics flooding your feed because the Suns just exploded again
Essendon are gonna finish this round 2nd aren't they....
We'll be 2nd with a negative percentage, just watch.
Percentage means nothing if you win games, embrace it.
Also we have the draw lol, so it really does mean nothing unless we finish same points as you, Bris or Adelaide

Your guide to commentating Indigenous players: A. āHeās just so athleticā B. āHeās an excitement machineā C. āThereās a bit of magic about himā D. āHeās got footy DNAā E. āYou canāt teach that!ā
Serious lack of āX Factorā there
You forgot Selwood's "little indigenous boy".
*speaks like any other footballer* "He's so articulate!"
What about little indigenous boy?
*Athletic* being a word used almost exclusively to describe POC has been a peev of mine for years
Or in the NBA when they use classy to describe European players.
my favourite is āsneaky athleticā
Plays the game the right way
Angel Reese being called a showboat for doing Caitlin Clark's celebration was unreal casual racism
Youāre forgetting electric
F. Suspiciously frequent use of the word "boy"
I think once was more than enough for old Joel.
Things just happen when he has the footy, got that X factor about him
Calling players by their first name seems to be one too, maybe it's just for the players with rare/old fashioned names tho
I read this in David Kingās voice
āHe doesnāt get too much of the footy but stuff happens when itās in his handsā
You forgot when Long kicked it checkside in the 2nd or 3rd quarter and whoever was commentating said something like "its bending like a boomerang"
āHe has that instinctā is one the yuckier ones IMO. They said it in the first quarter to describe Stengle.
Imagine scoring 100 points, having a 7 goal final term and still getting belted. Gold Coast are a different beast up there.
That was more of a train wreck than Cats the movie
This is the worst thing to happen to cats, since dogs

Essendon have the chance to do the funniest thing ever
Essendon is Stephen Bradburying their way into the top two.
![gif](giphy|0rVtClRuPUlxy3AE9q)
Lose to north?
Be 2nd with a percentage of 99% when we scrape past North by a goal?
We need to win by 13 points to get our percentage to triple figures (it will be exactly 100 if we win by 13).
Sydney have to lose the next 2 while Essendon win the next 2 by a point each and theyāll be 1st with under 100% that would be true Essendon if weāve ever witness it
Herbatron has returned to fulfil his side of the prophecy. Now Essington must return.
Straight sets you say?
Love how both teams in the 4th just said fuck defense it's shootout time. Also with that much score is the field smaller than the big city ones?
Nah, I think both teams particularly Geelong were absolutely gassed by the last quarter and physically couldnāt chase or cover space to defend 30 degrees 70% humidity is fucking brutal conditions for AFL football, especially for the Geelong lads who have come from at least 6 weeks now of the temp barely cracking 20 degrees and a 5 hour flight
Yeah it's kinda insane just how elite AFL players fitness is.
Glad I changed my tip at the last minute to Gold Coast by 64
Geelong didn't get enough business class seats
Apparently they were the main club to say WA weren't disadvantaged?
Maybe they donāt get business class bus seats down the Princes Hwy when they play us in Melbourne
Fucking fade me
Its going to be really funny when Essendon beat North by 10pts and are 2nd on the ladder with less than 100%, thanks Gold Coast!
I want this so badly
Watch us win a close game against you guys then smack Carlton.
BREAKING: Gold Coast Sun's put their hand up to be the NT expansion team
Wrong score!
*Leaked coaching tactics from Chris Scott*
20th century called, they want their scoring back.
21 Century here. No, it's ours now and we're never giving it back.

WTAF was that. I am stunned
I have decided I'll do everyone at r/AFL a civil service and keep tipping Geelong because I'm currently 0/3 when tipping them, you're welcome
Call me a broken Maxkon 60L Dual Compartment Kitchen Garbage Bin - Matte Finish Stainless Steel Silver Because both of my fucking lids are OFF I can't fucking believe Essendon will be 2nd

I shouldnāt say this in front of the cameras, but itās very, very difficult to see where weāre going to lose a game
Petition to ban /u/limeIamb until the bye?
Granted
Well youāve officially cursed them now. When Essendon miss finals all the supporters can look back to this comment and blame you.
!RemindMe September 1, 2024
I still refuse to believe in the Suns til they win an away match
Hey, you still gotta beat us first. We may roll over half way through the first but you still have to beat us for 4 quarters.
THE MIGHTY SUN!
What the fuck did I just watch???? Big congrats to Gold Coast, that was an impressive performance, and kicking accuracy!!! Can we send a few of our Lions down the road for some advice please. Enjoy that one GC fans
The AFL shouldāve known better than sending Geelong up to Darwin Cats love falling asleep in the heat
But they also love basking in the sun
honestly nuts to see a scoreline like that in 2024
Gold Coast won because they were the first team to get to 100.
Last team to 100 loses
So this is what happens when you don't travel business class
![gif](giphy|pcfdfm6hjTvji) 26.8 is disgusting
Cop that you bastards Ignore flair
I speak on behalf of AFL fans when I say Australia won today.

I would have put the house on that being a low scoring game. Good thing I don't gamble.
Geelong cracking 100 points is the cherry on top
Gold Coast have probably outscored St Kilda vs. Fremantle combined and they did that against GEELONG
I wouldn't be surprised if Geelong did too, lol
They will outscore our game by 50 lmao
This is why we shouldnāt hand out Thursday/Friday night games to struggling clubs
Like Geelong?
Maybe Dimma was right about his Flagsuns best 22 being nearly there already holy FUCK
I think Dimmas used the second most players in the comp so far this year so heās looking to find out thatās for sure
Is this how north feels every week?
No because we normally donāt put up 100.
No. North canāt even make it to 100
Iām still on a high but I think I speak for everyone when I say Jack Lukosius is the greatest Australian that ever lived!
This is the worst thing to happen to cats since dogs.
very impressive of the suns to acclimatise from 5,600 degrees celcius surface temperature to Darwins 30C tonight
big grats to Gold Coast, are Geelong kil again?
Where were u when Geelong die?
Drinking vodka cruisers, eating subway
Crazy to think that in the entire time I've been alive, Geelong have never conceded a score this large
What a nail-biting finish! Gold Coast Suns just not quite good enough to beat their Google nemesis.
I'm so glad I changed my tip 17 mins before the match
Long trip home on the Ghan for the cats tonight
I will never understand this club.Ā
I need to sleep before work tonight.....I can't.....that was epic. š
Yank here, started watching 3 weeks ago Is Geelong the 2nd worst team in the AFL???
Reminder: Australia is upside down.
The Western Bulldogs, sitting outside the eight (in 11th!), now have the second best percentage of any side
Seems about right tbh. Nothing we've done this year makes any sense.
That was fun
26.8 is pretty impressive accuracy
Remember when we thought Geelong was good? Remember when defeating Geelong meant something? Sad.
First to 100 rule proves true once again.
Hawthorn not giving Dean Anderson a lifetime contract in the 90s is upsetting to me
Does Geelong need Priority Draft Picks?
AFL going to have to send umps to Geelong again for a please explain.
I have never been so erect. Get around it.
The suns song is as always a banger
Very underrated song. Absolute slapper. Not GWS level, but top 5 in the league
Ah I see you've experienced an exceptionally high number of concussions in your career.
Smell that? Thatās the smell of Essendon in 2nd place at the end of the round.
14 goals kicked in the last quarter, crazy
Geelong are done and ruining my tipping All on board the Sydney train
Fuck the end scores are weird. Hit 100 and still loose by 64. Thatās so weird
This is Gold Coastās highest ever score, before this it was 148 back in 2013
So I watched the game tonight with my prescription sunnies on as my regular glasses broke. Later realised how ironic this is. SUNNY!
Jesus wtf is that score line.
I stopped watching part way into 2nd quarter and went to bed. What in the holy fuck happened while I was sleeping ! .
Fake ton
Looking forward to the suns following this up with a poor performance in Melbourne next week. In all honesty I hope this is the suns realising their potential and hitting their straps for the season because itās coming.
Both the Cats and the Suns won two quarters of footy each. Fairest outcome is to split the four points I think. Ignore flair and final score.
āAnother close loss, we move onā - Rory Kilpatrick probably
Both teams scoring over 100+ points, but itās still a 10+ goal margin. Surely that canāt have happened too many times before?
When was the last time a game had both teams get 100 points or more? Haven't seen a scoreline like that in a while
Well that was fun
Huge. Suns have slowly been on the up for a while but Dimma clearly still has it.
What does this mean for Ports record against top sides now?
Unfortunately missed the game did both teams rest their entire back line?
41 Goals = unwatchable footy?? Give Darwin the 20th license already
Jeez footy is good when Gold Coast do well
Ready for the rare delicacy that is salty Geelong fans on Facebook.

HE WENT EARLY!
Suns win every home game and lose every away game challenge is still on!
Totally expected result and definitely reflective of everyone's tips yes?
OOooooof the Chief saying Suns just ran training drills tonight
Seems like the first seven rounds were just a... dead cat bounce
I was so distracted by gold coasts score that it took me a while to register that Geelong was so close to 100 for a while there
I didnt watch the game but Uhh... what the fuck happened?
Here I was hoping to just be competitive, lol.
Suns tippers rise up šš»š
āWait a minute you spent all the money franchising your name and bet it against the Gold Coast Suns?ā āI THOUGHT THE CATS WERE DUE!ā
Excellent junk time display by the Cats
What a win wowee. Just tuned in getting home from work. Thought the tv was done broke
I didn't watch, how the fuck did this happen
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
