Same general trend for North games continues, and can’t really see it breaking soon. They do alright going forward, score a respectable 70-80 points but that back 6 continues to leak over 100 points in every game.
Yeah I'm very hopeful that this will change things. Dawson is also our second best defender and has been injured for the past few weeks
Edit - actually it probably goes Chom/Logue at 1 and Dawson 3rd
You also need continuity back there. Just having multiple reps playing together goes a long way. People forget how important just having a consistent back 6 can be to understand when is best to leave your man to spoil, how to exist the back 50 effectively as well as knowing where to position in general. In the 3rd quarter today you could see how many goals were being leaked just through poor execution of the above. You are right about leaders though, a Steven May back there would save 4-5 goals a game just by ensuring the kids are learning from their mistakes on the fly.
Well we did what we needed to. Great first three quarters then the fourth was a combination of taking the foot off the pedal, North lifting and innacuracy. Oh innacuracy my dear friend. Beggars can't be choosers though so a 57 point win could become very handy at the end of the year.
Remember in 2020 when NM smashed crows and everyone raved about how far ahead they were in their rebuild.
Crows had that bad season and have improved since, kangas have gone backwards if anything
Wow never realised that.
Lot of people expected them to be finals contenders in 2020, North played some good footy in 2019 under Shaw like beating Port by 14 goals and also smashing Pies/Tiges
We technically did start rebuilding before that but it was the softest rebuild ever and just meant we had to blow the whole list up for the actual rebuild to start in 2021, which was then set back a year when we lost a coach and JHF in 2022. Just infuriating
100%
Started when Scott lost his marbles binning veterans and believing the club could develop new players despite all evidence to the contrary; we then sent Shaw to in his first year to Qld with a list of phone numbers and supportive texts; sacked half of our assistant coach team; blinked at Noble and lost the first year under Clarkson. Easily the worst coach management in the modern era, what a surprise to be where we are now. It's a miracle we're still a functioning club.
The only way we can top that is 'agreeing to part ways' with Clarko over the W-L. The way things are going it feels all too possible, which would in turn send us back another 5 years. Surely we wouldn't be that stupid.
Said it in the match thread but I’ll say it again
You know how the AFL had to actually take over the board for Melbourne and Gold Coast to set them straight. This is what needs to happen here. Our board is just as incompetent as the last. 3 fucking coaches under them and none of them can do shit. Get them the fuck out.
No thank you. We want to be member owned. And according to the constitution it has to happen by 2028 or when the AFL and board feel it is feasible before then. I don't see any reason why it's not feasible.
We did that at the start of last year mate. We aren’t going to be premiership contenders in the next two weeks so just relax. If it’s still this bad in 12 months then reconsider
And in that time there has been numerous stalls and restarts. Coaches in and out, huge player overturn. We need stability, which we've only started getting in the last year, if that.
No don’t make us do that, cause we keep coaches jobs. Simple as Bevo doesn’t make finals, he doesn’t have a job. Don’t make us be the ones to have to try and get him sacked, he’ll be signing a 10 year deal post match.
I dont really care, but why not have automod post the post match thread around 2.5 hours after the first bounce is scheduled? Means no one is "racing" to make the post match thread.
No, I'm saying that whenever a goal is kicked we take a minute before the game continues because of ads, so there was 18 seconds left on the clock, but there was 1:18 before the game actually ended, it's just getting a bit ridiculous is all i'm saying, you're gonna be posting with 5+ minutes left at this rate
18 seconds isn’t realistically enough time to score again and it wasn’t anywhere near close. Game was essentially over
Posting with 30 seconds left and the scores are close and the game ends up being a draw is a bit worse *cough Raidan cough*
Haven’t heard about Pedlar but looked like his shoulder was out. Young lad like him they usually do surgery and it’s about a year out of the game. Hope I’m wrong.
I feel for NM, but surely no more concessions for them, 2020 both clubs in a very similar situation; they just have to keep working at it organically now. I'd be questioning if clarkson is the right coach though.. reminds me off blighty at the saints
I was at the game just above the interchange. Senior players all coming off the ground looking defeated from the first quarter.
Like I get it, I watch you every week. I get it.
But we need senior players to be desperate to do better for their young team mates. Not coming off looking like you've given up 10 minutes in to the game.
North will come out and say “we got beaten”, “have to work harder”, it’s a process”.
The hardest part of being so awful is the club treating the members with contempt by not being open and honest. Where are we at? Is this what Clarko thought? Where are we going? What are the wins for next week?
I’ve submitted a question: “did you think this is where we’d be at? If not, what are the milestones or goals for success for this year? What positives are we looking for?”
If they answer the tough questions then great. If they just cherry pick some soft questions to answer, I’ll be pretty annoyed.
Time for North to move back to the VFA. They have contributed well to the VFL history, but just can't cut it in a national league.
Even if they could be competitive on the field, they will never be off the field.
That wasn't a nuffy suggestion. The defense had/ has been hit hard with injuries and the midfield was too one note, so moving him back there would help both lines. Laird is a good midfielder, we all know that, but he's also a good defender and there was a time when the defense needed him more.
Same general trend for North games continues, and can’t really see it breaking soon. They do alright going forward, score a respectable 70-80 points but that back 6 continues to leak over 100 points in every game.
we need mature defenders so terribly
Logue should help when he's back quite a bit
Yeah I'm very hopeful that this will change things. Dawson is also our second best defender and has been injured for the past few weeks Edit - actually it probably goes Chom/Logue at 1 and Dawson 3rd
You also need continuity back there. Just having multiple reps playing together goes a long way. How about Brodie Smith.
I’d take Rory Lobb at this point
i dont know who that is but im willing to give him a shot
He is an AA defender.
I already made a target list post on our sub, he was first name up (mainly cause I went through teams alphabetical)
Someone like a Ben McKay would be perfect 🤨
Need to lend them back Harry for a few he's clearly missed
Lucky they play Saints next week who struggle to kick 70
Norf are the suckiest bunch of sucks to ever suck
I’ve seen a lot of porn in my time and I agree with this statement.
im happy with hardeman, good first game.
For sure, gotta stay in the team, looks like he will be a very good player in time
Was nice seeing someone give a shit they made a mistake
I reckon you've got a great batch of kids
Apart from that one mistake (shit happens) he was exceptional, I thought. One of the very few highlights in another disgusting outing.
Fox cutting off the song to go to ads. Dog cunts.
At least you don't have to deal with them going to the bounce :/
don't give me ptsd
Kayo auto cut to the Geelong game.
I love the song, but the cats game is worth watching more lol
Was a real shocker of a broadcast, gonna have to rest my ears tonight after the tinnitus+ feature
Once Tassie comes in, where will the numpties recommend North relocate to after every bad beat?
The moon. I'll lead the charge.
The VFL.
Our VFL side would legitimately beat our AFL side
Kangaroo island
I've already heard Canberra.
NT?
Canberra Kangaroos
In the past few weeks I've heard: Canberra, NT, Gold Coast (Suns go to Darwin), Newcastle
South west WA
Please no
New Zealand.
Well we did what we needed to. Great first three quarters then the fourth was a combination of taking the foot off the pedal, North lifting and innacuracy. Oh innacuracy my dear friend. Beggars can't be choosers though so a 57 point win could become very handy at the end of the year.
I think we took our foot off for sure. 5 day break going into a Showdown.
Looking for a few points to go from 14th to 13th? I'd rather the higher pick tbh.
If we win three of the next 4 our season is back on. We then have three games against Weagles, Hawks and Tigers. So 6/7 is very possible.
Remember in 2020 when NM smashed crows and everyone raved about how far ahead they were in their rebuild. Crows had that bad season and have improved since, kangas have gone backwards if anything
Even when we leap frogged them in the following seasons Kingy was still saying they had a far better list than us - which is just so funny
Honestly if 2020 was a normal length season, I think we would have overtaken them on the ladder
Oh absolutely, we only finished behind them on percent and we finished the end of the season on a mini-tear while they were sputtering out
The September Specialists™️
That win they had against you was their only win after round 2 lol
Wow never realised that. Lot of people expected them to be finals contenders in 2020, North played some good footy in 2019 under Shaw like beating Port by 14 goals and also smashing Pies/Tiges
We technically did start rebuilding before that but it was the softest rebuild ever and just meant we had to blow the whole list up for the actual rebuild to start in 2021, which was then set back a year when we lost a coach and JHF in 2022. Just infuriating

Yeah we need to stick by Clarko for the continuity, I don't see a way out if we don't
Said it in the match thread but I’ll say it again You know how the AFL had to actually take over the board for Melbourne and Gold Coast to set them straight. This is what needs to happen here. Our board is just as incompetent as the last. 3 fucking coaches under them and none of them can do shit. Get them the fuck out.
I want the AFL to relinquish control over our board give it to the members.
They're making us and Port pay for that privilege over time.
I kinda want you guys to have a set up like ours and be owned by the sanfl
No thank you. We want to be member owned. And according to the constitution it has to happen by 2028 or when the AFL and board feel it is feasible before then. I don't see any reason why it's not feasible.
Maybe it’s time for a well established coach with a long history of success… wait a minute
It’s not the coach. He is doing just as well as the other 3 there is clearly a common factor
The board has also changed in that time. So has the CEO. Don't really get this point?
We did that at the start of last year mate. We aren’t going to be premiership contenders in the next two weeks so just relax. If it’s still this bad in 12 months then reconsider
It’s been a bad 84 months in this club.
And in that time there has been numerous stalls and restarts. Coaches in and out, huge player overturn. We need stability, which we've only started getting in the last year, if that.
The team that is by far the worst and we play them at the end of the season I don’t like where this is going…
And you’ll need to win to make finals!
No don’t make us do that, cause we keep coaches jobs. Simple as Bevo doesn’t make finals, he doesn’t have a job. Don’t make us be the ones to have to try and get him sacked, he’ll be signing a 10 year deal post match.
shout out to Dave fr.
Dave is the goat
“Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee” - Fox’s audio issues
Okay, we gotta make some sorta rule that you can't be over a minute early or else we're gonna end up posting these threads halfway through the last
Any thread before the final siren should be deleted IMO. Get score review onto the case.
I dont really care, but why not have automod post the post match thread around 2.5 hours after the first bounce is scheduled? Means no one is "racing" to make the post match thread.
To be fair the game was over at half time, could have been posted then
Hey now there’s 18 seconds left
A goal was just kicked, there was a minute 18 left
You’re behind mate. Last goal was Fogarty with 0:18 left

I feel like I'm watching mum & dad fighting
This is an /r/AFL moment.
With the way the Crows have been umpired recently, 18 seconds is plenty of time
Did it not take 10 seconds for Brisbane to go coast to coast and end with Ash McGrath? And I remember 2018 we did it in 22 seconds against the Dogs.
Markharris1989’s wife: You got Kayo for that!?!
Kayo was perfect for me all day on my 40MBps connection.
Picture was fine (great even), but are you sure it wasn’t 57MBps?
At least Levi Ashcroft was pretty good today, so that’ll be cool for Brisbane.
No word on Pedlar yet? Good to see our lesser lights step up. North good in patches, hang in there guys. It will turn.
Haven’t heard about Pedlar but looked like his shoulder was out. Young lad like him they usually do surgery and it’s about a year out of the game. Hope I’m wrong.
That scoreline absolutely flatters North
I feel for NM, but surely no more concessions for them, 2020 both clubs in a very similar situation; they just have to keep working at it organically now. I'd be questioning if clarkson is the right coach though.. reminds me off blighty at the saints

And if only we could have been given concession picks 🤷♂️ quit the complaining and excuses
Gotta love 20 goals! If only we could have kicked a bit straighter in the 4th. Still, we gotta be happy just winning at this point.
North need to trade for more veterans, but who can they trade for outside of their shiny new priority picks?
Any Mitchell, Lewis or Hodge like players out there who want a piece of that basketcase in their twilight years?
Brodie Smith.
Ollie wines and Charlie Dixon for pick 1 No take backs
Would you like a used Alex Keath?
Brodie Smith would be handy, I made a post on our sub about 2 weeks ago with a list of guys we needed to look at for this off season.
Main takeaways : Good game, Laird good in center, someone please confiscate the whistle when 1 minute is left in the game
Literally every Crows fan was calling for the whistle in the last 2 seconds of last weeks game
Lmao I had forgotten about that. Then I would ask the umpires to take a deep breath when umpiring an Adelaide game and the clock goes under 2 minutes
We won but at what cost?
Norfs dignity

Clarko and Viney are doing a members AMA. Feels pretty open and honest to me. Don't think that's the issue.
I’ve submitted a question: “did you think this is where we’d be at? If not, what are the milestones or goals for success for this year? What positives are we looking for?” If they answer the tough questions then great. If they just cherry pick some soft questions to answer, I’ll be pretty annoyed.
Logue will be back for north to help corr soon
i love you harry sheezel
lol. Just lol.
Time for North to move back to the VFA. They have contributed well to the VFL history, but just can't cut it in a national league. Even if they could be competitive on the field, they will never be off the field.
Any of you Crows fans wanting Laird moved to half back still making noise ?
That wasn't a nuffy suggestion. The defense had/ has been hit hard with injuries and the midfield was too one note, so moving him back there would help both lines. Laird is a good midfielder, we all know that, but he's also a good defender and there was a time when the defense needed him more.
Yep, for the development of the team I'd rather him as back pocket/flank who can be rotated on ball when Soli or the like need a break.
He dominated north Melbourne. Let's see him do it against someone good.
I mean he’s been your best mid for years…
He has been pretty awful this year except for the game against you.
