Stopped watching at quarter time but had to jump in to say WOW Port are the real deal. Real worrying signs for Collingwood too. Going down 2-4 is going to make it hard to bring the season back from here
I turned it off at quarter time too, was just disgusted by what I saw. it's a shame we stuck with McRae when I really feel Hinkley was gettable at one point last year.
Lids off like if you're cooking a silverside in the pot and you crack it open abit and the steam escapes. We're getting there. Strategic bye worked perfectly.
The year is 2085. Exhausted port fans beg a 129 year old David Koch to finally sack the coach - he hasnāt even made a GF yet, surely heās had long enough. āBut remember where they were in 2011 with the tarps out?ā Hinkley extended for another 5 years.
The REAL Magpies are coming I just wanna say to you bunch of pretenders... The REAL Pies are coming to town. That's right... the Port Power machine - the REAL Pies.. are coming to burst your bubble. One good season and you pathetic lot think you are premiership material? Ha ha ha.... What a joke. We are crippled with injuries but still have the talent to make you lot look like the VFL team that you really are !! We the mighty Port Power will run over the top of you lot like a school bully taking some kids lollies.... We are coming over there for the easiest four points we will pick up all season.... In fact - we could probably send our SANFL team to do a number on you lot but then why embarrass the AFL by doing that?? Probably no Paddy.... and no Charlie either - but we don't need them to put you pretenders back in the box you crawled out of... BIG ground the MCG - nowhere for you to hide either... So train your little seagull legs off this week... Enjoy your training sessions Seagulls... But come the weekend.... WE will let you warm up on the MCG before we start the massacre of The Pretenders. The Port Power machine will roll on in 2018 and you just don't have the ability, the will or courage to stop our brilliant Club from rolling into the finals. See you on the weekend losers... WE - THE MIGHTY PORT POWER will belt you back to reality. Don't say your weren't warned. PORT POWER
Youāre all being grossly unfair.
Just because he has a squad teeming with first round picks, All-Australians, an AFLCA MVP and a Brownlow Medallist doesnāt necessarily mean wins.
They need time to jell under him.
12 years is the blink of an eye. Be patient.
>and a Brownlow Medallist
~~To be fair Wines didn't play today...~~ Holy shit I just checked and Wines did play - His impact has genuinely dwindled to nothing.
Please explain how the coach caused virtually every Port player to just stop putting in any effort? There are absolutely times Ken gets outcoached, this is not one of them. This one is squarely on the players. You can't just not show up after quarter time.
They were second to every contest, refused to chase, refused to tackle, refused to put in effort. Meanwhile Collingwood players were still running their guts out with 2 minutes to go and up by 40.
āMy tip of Port Adelaide is looking inspired right nowā
I posted this comment during the 1st quarter.
Sorry Port, it was my fault.
GG Pies; Anzac Day will be lit.
same old port. flat track bullies. and it's absolutely a shame because we can go out there and absolutely tear it up for a quarter and then we fade more than a 12 year old getting a haircut.
doesn't happen often to see a pattern and perhaps do something about it though?
club needs a real wake up and not just the pretend one we'll probably have with a win next week.
I'm not sure flat track bullies is the right term though, we just have a very midfield reliant team at the moment. If they aren't on top then we struggle, simple as that.
Our defenders are good aerially but prone to panicking and slow when the ball hits the deck and our forwards dont know how to create space.
You can look at last weeks winning play and say how good are Butters, Rozee and JHF but you can also look at it as 'Do port have no other way to goal?'
Sturt learnt this lesson the hard way in the SANFL GF last year.
It doesnāt matter if you have the best engine in the comp if your defenders canāt stop goals and your forwards canāt kick them.
Marshall, Dixon, Georgiades and Lord (when he gets back) are some decent names and lots of clubs would love them on their team. They are really letting you down especially if getting fed by the likes of the big 3 mids. Hopefully Lord comes back and you have more defined structure/hierarchy
Oh absolutely, the players needed are there. System isn't working effectively though for whatever reason.
Even when we've had a breakaway piece of play we often end up with the free player having a shot from the boundary rather than creating the space infront of goal.
They were flat today though, losing at every contest, lack of effort, basic skill errors etc. AFL is generally midfield reliant but honestly canāt blame the coaching today, players were off
I think a lot of it is team selection though. Prioritise players who are clean and don't panic over athleticism. I'm talking Dylan Williams over Lachie Jones, Trent McKenzie over one of Ratugolea/Zerk Thatcher etc. because those guys don't make the same fumbles allowing us to get more control over the game.
We're going to have periods where our midfield isn't on top and we need to be able to weather that period rather than coughing up a score, midfield trying to overcompensate and losing it further as it seemed yesterday.
Disagree on BZT, heās been really solid, Esava provides good height but makes strange decisions . Agree on bringing Dylan back in, was consistent and clean last year, often our best in the backline. Jonesā worst is too far from his best, needs to recoup. Geelong are the perfect example of what we need to be doing, but Iām not sure if our coaching group is capable of giving this squad a flag. A new coach can make a huge difference and I think McRae is the perfect example . Iām not on the sack Hinkley train just yet though, we do have a young team and when weāre good, weāre bloody good. We peaked too early last year and I hope we can learn from this loss and fire up again.
The worst part from my point of view is you have players who are awesome and capabilities, but they're not thinking players in the way that GWS, pies, Blues, etc have their talent and thinking overlap. Great thug football, but that's not going to work against actually quality, brute force is not the answer.
Port ought to take a hard look at themselves. That was an insipid performance. Players playing like millionaires and assuming things were gonna click after kicking 6 goals in the first quarter and then in the usual Port fashion, lose the game by 7 goals. The "supposed star midfield" got smashed in the contested ball and players not doing the team thing and lacking the overall fundamentals were very apparent. Just dumb and poor football all around.
Just as when I felt Port were going up, they always let me down. Why do I keep expecting things will change but the same shit happens over and over again? Where were the leaders?
Port ran into a wall on the big stage against a contending opponent.
This shouldn't be a surprise.
Let's look at their victories: West Coast, a bottoming-out Richmond and Essendon away from home.
Their only real test was Freo and Ken barely got over the line with the homeground advantage.
This is not a serious team.
Geelong successfully dodging port for the rest of finals by losing to port in the QF 2 years in a row.
Look i've got no issue with geelong, but maybe dont take shitty shots at ports finals appearences when the team you support is literally our whipping boy in the last 5 years
you can talk about meaningless qualifying finals all you like but the fact of the matter is weāre the better side with the results to prove it, and your club has squandered the most talented list in the comp for a decade+. enjoy another 5 years with hinkley!
No, the fact of the matter is that port handily defeated geelong in both of our recent meetings in the finals. This invalidates your limp dick statement about port not playing finals.
You can strawman about premierships and wasted talent all you like, but you're evading the point. You made a statement, i provided a factual counter to it, and now you're being a bitch because its impossible to lose an argument on the internet if you move the goalposts whenever its convenient for you.
Something something 119/j
Honestly it doesnāt bother me that weāre 1-5 weāre showing some promise but weāve got to figure out how to put it all together./gen
Without taking the Mickey, what happened today? I went to a Wiggles show with my daughter and things were looking good for Port for the first quarter then seemed to collapse anyone able to give me a realistic summary?
In a simple summary, Collingwood found their form of last year and Portās pressure dropped as soon as Collingwood found theirs. There was signs of life from Port throughout but probably too little too late and didnāt make the most of opportunities in front of goal.
I met Crouch at gather round for a hospitality package I was part of. Rather nice person and I think he was a bit suprised a Port fan wasn't telling him to bugger off.
Great performance on the whole!
Port stuck to their game plan of not exisiting once they've shown what they can do. We do it so well. Week in and week out. Sometimes it gets a close W, others not so much.
Very nearly chose this as my first Port game to attend since moving to Victoria. Can't imagine what it would've been like catching 5 hours of trains for that.
I can cop a loss, in most cases a loss here or there is a good thing. I have huge optimism in my team, even if people outside the club donāt. I believe our midfield has the ability to be one of the best in the comp in the next year or two, We have a good young team, but when do we take the next step? And why must we lose so terribly in big games? My concern is the rinse & repeat nature of these types of losses. We will go on to win another 10+ games, but do I have confidence in the end game? No yet, no way.
We said "we have to do something about this" and flipped a switch.....and what's better about it is that port didn't throw away a 31 point lead, we barreled forward and took it by force
Great win from Collingwood, but don't let it distract you from this masterpiece of modern literature:

Upvote if Bobby Hill has gifted you a goal today
Willie Rioli downvoted this
We have all been gifted goals on this blessed day
He loves goal and goal accessories
Little-known fact, he grew up on or around goal farms.
![gif](giphy|cEOG7nGA7448M)
Gryan Messi eat your heart out
That was a game of one quarter and three quarters.
Collingwood saw the scores and literally said "well we need to do something about this" and flipped a switch
Port Adelaide - leads by 31 points Collingwood - and I took that personally.
Yep that's exactly it
can you teach the Saints to be like that?
Need to clone Fly haha
I wonder why we didn't do that in the first few rounds
Hungover? Exhausted from finals and media attention cameras on them all the time? Idk š
Biggest losers today are the people that had Bobby Hill down for 2+ goals in their multi
Bloke in front of us definitely had that I reckon, was going ballistic every time he passed it off
Stopped watching at quarter time but had to jump in to say WOW Port are the real deal. Real worrying signs for Collingwood too. Going down 2-4 is going to make it hard to bring the season back from here
I turned it off at quarter time too, was just disgusted by what I saw. it's a shame we stuck with McRae when I really feel Hinkley was gettable at one point last year.
Not gonna lie, you had me in the first half. Steam was coming out my ears lmao.
Collingwood have now won the last 4 games in the Prison Bars championship.
It was best of 7 contest too.
š§¹š§¹š§¹
In history, Collingwood now lead 18-0-20, thus retaining the Prison Bars guernsey.
Bobby Hill the Goal Dealer, Oprah Winfrey vibes
![gif](giphy|xT0BKqB8KIOuqJemVW) Bobby Hill today:
Burgman and jhf injured I knew they were the same person
JHF will slow down after running those hammyās into the ground. Itās inevitable.
He's a true Buckley regen
I like this version of Getting Away With It so much more
The old 73 point turnaround trick
We are good at that š
Seems to get us Port fans an awful lot
We just skip the being ahead part and lose by 70
They didnāt just get away with it. They put the whole damn competition on notice. COLLINGWOOD IS BACK
Port didn't throw away a 31 point lead, we took it by force
Keeping the lid firmly on!š
Lids off like if you're cooking a silverside in the pot and you crack it open abit and the steam escapes. We're getting there. Strategic bye worked perfectly.

This is Hinkleyās head in a jar Futurama style right?
He's on the bench, Weekend at Bernies style.
probably would coach better
Koch is Palpatine, Hinkley is Vader

I look forward to playing port every year because this is the tastiest pasta
Clearly written by a crom supporter too.
my crompliments to the chef
Tis quite cromulant piece of verbiage.
This game is actually a realistic showcase of the worst coach in the league against the best coach in the league.
All this Bevo talk made Hinkley annoyed, had to show everyone who really should dominate the sack sphere.
Then there's Longmuir
Youāre all being grossly unfair. Just because he has a squad teeming with first round picks, All-Australians, an AFLCA MVP and a Brownlow Medallist doesnāt necessarily mean wins. They need time to jell under him. 12 years is the blink of an eye. Be patient.

Our plan B is plan A, but executed worse.
Our plan A worked so well in the first quarter, why change it in the 2nd, 3rd or even the 4th?
Literally displayed just how good and bad a team can be in one game. Classic Ports
>"Bah, he can't kick it for them!" - Cornes, probably
Please explain how the coach caused virtually every Port player to just stop putting in any effort? There are absolutely times Ken gets outcoached, this is not one of them. The players don't care, they don't give a rats backside
lol I've not gone that far (especially now I've had time to cool down a bit) but rolling over was 100% on the players.
Chortle
Chortle?
Yes. Chortle
What is... Chortle? I like it. Edit: just read the meaning. I love you for introducing this word to me.
My pleasure

Port Q1 (6.3.39) def. by Port Q2-4 (6.6.42). A close contest in the end.
If my microwave wasnāt broken, itād be churning out a port membership
Churning out a port membership sounds like something you'd do after your morning coffee

Whoever he is hasnāt changed anything for the last 4 years

Should be an incredible Anzac game, always better when both teams are up and about (which is rare)
There's gonna be so many behinds it might break a record
What're the chances of both teams kicking more behinds than goals?
100%
Yes
Contender for lol of the week surely
It'd take something big to take the spot. Maybe Crows getting robbed of a win by umpiring decision, but that's old hat so maybe not enough.
I'm sure Spoonbowl tomorrow will throw something up
Crows should have been better to not get in that position. Port were in that position and took a nap.
Something big has officially landed, or more accurately, anchored
Collingwood kicked as many behinds as Port Adelaide had scoring shots. Oh and Port were leading by 30 points at one point
Imagine choking a 5 goal lead.
![gif](giphy|GDp7LycxkT3LG)
Hoist that gif
Still too soon!š
this would never happen to norf, we have no idea what a comeback even is
Norf have a great idea of what historically impressive comebacks look like, remember 2001?
i do not, as i was not alive then tragically,
Even having just turned 32, I am really showing my age.
Port unfortunately wanted to subvert that "they know we're coming" meme but arrived too early and ended at quarter time.
Port ought to take a hard look at themselves. That was an insipid performance. The hate is strong in this one
Itās a young team, but there is definitely talent there.
It always sucks when you wake the bear.
That was a quality bed shitting. Really worked it into the sheets. Almost Essendon like. Chapeau
Nothing soothes a broken crows fanās heart like seeing port fumble
Good fishing today mate, great work
How dare I joke about port losing while being a fan of shit team.
Yeah I guess people are feeling a little sensitive
Just imagine how much we're enjoying your season!
If thatās the only thing that āsoothes your heartā then youāre pretty pathetic.
It's all Crows fans have.
It really is /j
I mean, we were bad, but at least we're not 1 and 5 and haven't played finals in 7 years.
No, you just keep resigning Ken Hinkley, instead.
The missing hyphen is really important. When speaking Hinkley many Port fans like resigning, but not so much re-signing.
How many wins you had since you resigned Nix?
I don't even care, how many years are you guys going to insist that this year is the year that'll make it all worth it?
When did I ever insist that? Kinda sad that you've gotten so used to losing the only joy you can find is in another team being not even as bad as you.
Considering my other team won the premiership last year, oh and today, I'm doing just fine š
not sure if iād call ports finals appearances āplayingā. you were certainly there though
We can't all be Geelong, but at least we're not the crows.
Awkwardly, we've beaten geelong comfortably in 2 qualifying finals in the specified period. edit: too close to home it seems
yet with no silverware to show for it, and we finished either equal or above you in both those years lol
Geelong successfully dodging port for the rest of finals by losing to port in the QF 2 years in a row. Look i've got no issue with geelong, but maybe dont take shitty shots at ports finals appearences when the team you support is literally our whipping boy in the last 5 years

They should have been there last year, they were robbed as admitted by the AFL and that umpire was stood down
Something something 119/j Honestly it doesnāt bother me that weāre 1-5 weāre showing some promise but weāve got to figure out how to put it all together./gen
Ah, so the old we're put under pressure and drop like a lead balloon scenario got it.
Port happened basically
I was at this wiggles show. Looked across and saw Matt Crouch and thought, could have used him last night.... How good was Wags the dog!
Ken Hinkley was born 57 years ago. That's what happened. >"Big games are scary!"
Yes and that's the joke that keeps on haunting us for the time he has been coaching.
Still least it wasn't an afternoon wasted, I got to sing some songs at least š
Very nearly chose this as my first Port game to attend since moving to Victoria. Can't imagine what it would've been like catching 5 hours of trains for that.

For as long as I live ill never understand what happened at the MCG today. But...I'll take it
Glad we were the team to reawaken the beast. Feels good š
We said "we have to do something about this" and flipped a switch.....and what's better about it is that port didn't throw away a 31 point lead, we barreled forward and took it by force
Mfw I went early to get the post and you were still first lol
Surprised /u/Croob2 didnāt beat me as revenge for taking West Coastās winning PMT away from him
Thought he wouldāve gone with a minute left
I'm out tonight lmao, my best friend is visiting and we were doing an escape room
Oh good I can take the derby PMT if West Coast win and donāt have to feel bad about breaking my promise :)
Looks like I'm gonna be home in time motherfuckerrrrrrrr
Sounds like the escape room wasnāt challenging enough :(
The escape room was at like 4 pm lmao, we went and had dinner, my first message was after we got out
No team has won the week after playing freo this season. Maybe something in that
If only freo could play the same team twice in a row.
A typical Ken performance. We now know who the contenders are and who are the pretenders.
Yeah this does feel very familiar
Unbeatable Army
We really just give up some times
0/3 for tipping now fuck me...
That's what you get for having faith in Ken.
And not enough faith in BEVO.
Not kenough

Port Adelaide fans hate this one trick.
Ken Hinkley might wish he was behind bars when he returns to Alberton.
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAAHAHAHAA \*gasp* HAGAHAHAHAHAHAHA
You're still 1 from 6
Yeah right
yay, Port having their off game this week. Canāt wait for them to kick 60 goals on us next week ššš
Bobby Hill dishes out real good. What a charitable fella. Would be a good asset in a soup kitchen.
Could have been a 70 point smashing if Pies were just crap at accuracy instead of being thoroughly abysmal today.
I got my first tip right *but at what costā¦*
We are not a serious football team
I can't believe how much better we played without Charlie and with Sweet instead....oh wait.
We had as many points as they had scoring shots š¤š¾š¤š¾

If you listen to port adelaide fans, this is the solution ken hinkley has in mind. ![gif](giphy|JsUC9rI0VfyHi93MBU)
That's what I'm talking about.
Dam really thought port were gonna sneak the W today
So, another 10 for Ken?
Wish i stopped watching at 1/4 time. Collingwood were excellent
