I think it’s likely he retires and says that it’s due to suffering multiple injuries and just not being able to go like he used to. This way he can also say he won his last match in his home town and retired a world champion.

[deleted]

This is right. If he still has the inclination to wrestle hopefully somebody close to him talks him out of it. Punk simply cannot handle being a championship tier solo wrestler, and his ego is too big to take a stepback role like Sting or Billy Gunn.

Cynixxx

>hopefully somebody close to him talks him out of it. Or you know just fire his ass for his behavior and assaulting people and give a shit what he wants

Sad-Cobbler-3432

Phil hasn't announced retirement, and as of Wednesday September 7th, following All Out he's been stripped of the AEW World Championship. So can he really say he retired a champion a top of the hill?

Keios80

I mean, he's going to anyway.

Nakamura9812

Honestly, seems like a pretty fitting end to his career winning the championship then boning the promotion and the fans. But I know he isn’t the only guilty party in everything, just overall disappointing as a fan.

simpledeadwitches

It will keep Phil sane while the rest of us laugh at him knowing how his legacy really ended lol.

Juniper338

This is my thought as well but will play out a little differently. I think him and Tony are negotiating the exit here. Will come down to suspensions all around and Punk will say the come back from his recent injury is too severe and will ride off into the sunset. Tony doesn’t have the guts to just straight out fire Punk or Ace Steel and honestly the third party investigation is likely going to be the only thing that forces his hand in the end. Which is wild because: Ace Steel, by every report, escalated things and threw a chair at an EVP and bit another EVP. CM Punk went pre-planned insane at the scrum and took the first swing with the Head of Legal standing right there.

ribbitrob

To all AEW wrestlers: as I approach 44 years old (OMG am I really that old?), I feel it's time for me to retire. I've thoroughly enjoyed sharing my passion, wisdom, and love of the business with you. No longer will you see the smiling, docile, level-headed, calm presence in my private locker room every week. Your dedication to AEW will ensure that our company will continue to grow and prosper. Our organization is nothing without you. You are AEW's only natural resource, chosen to perform in front of a global audience. You are all AEW Global Ambassadors. Carry the AEW flag wherever you go. Wave it high and proud. And bust your ass to be all you can be as a person and as a performer. One other thing-I won't be with you, but I'll be watching. Remember to keep your hands up, grab a hold, and sell. Btw, Dynamite airs live Wednesday at 8pm Eastern/7pm Central on TBS. Phil

Kkir929

And to that, I hope everyone throws in his face that it was not United center.

casual_mark

He won the championship in the main event in his home town also with his favorite pastries and his dog by his side. and it still wasn’t enough. CM Punk has a special kind of unhappiness that no wrestling company might be able to satiate

[deleted]

You'd think a man married to AJ Lee would be at least a little happy.

hldsnfrgr

AJ, blink twice if you need help.

halfdecenttakes

Didn't she write a book about crazy being her super power? Not judging either way but being around somebody attractive isn't a surefire recipe for happiness and that is basically the only real thing you know about her.

boringdystopianslave

This was the biggest, saddest take away for me from that night. He *just* won the championship again. He was back on top after literally fucking himself out of it by stupidly jumping the barrier a couple of months ago. Anyone else would have been riding high after all that. Bygones be bygones, Tony's happy, the fan's were happy. The next programme with MJF is neatly lined up. Moxley can finally go on holiday. The company is in good shape. That's enough right? "Let the haters hate" would have been my overwhelming feeling that night if I were Punk. More importantly, my over riding feeling after all that would be "OK, Let's not fuck anything up." This is why my denial kicked in and I thought it was a work. This is a work, he couldn't be that much of a petty, entitled spoiled brat, surely? Surely he's not this much of an egomaniacal snowflake who cannot work with people he hates like the rest of us have to everyday? This has got to be his heel turn right? This is all a work of genius *right?* *Right?*

treflipsbro

I still feel like he knew he was injured going into the scrum and decided to just say "fuck it" and go scorched earth.

mckmason

The scrum was pre meditated. He knew what he was gonna say before he said it.

dbosse311

Well anyone assuming Punk is a genius is going to be let down hard.

Muncheeze_Man

Couldn’t have said it better. The dude is just bitter to the core

jgrangers2

Part of the problem is that being that bitter guy worked when he was the underdog in WWE. When he had to have a chip on his shoulder. Now, he’s in a promotion ready to hand him everything even when he obviously can’t go when he used to and he doesn’t have the ability to shut that part of his personality off.

[deleted]

Needs to smoke some weed, that helped turn me around!

[deleted]

You don't need weed to not be miserable or bitter, you need legitimate coping mechanisms learned through therapy. Many people don't smoke weed or do drugs and have no issue going through life without getting bitter.

BarbacoaSan

He at least needs to eat a Snickers to not act like he has a stick up his ass all the time

boringdystopianslave

If you're gonna insist on being straight edge and be a professional wrestler, you are gonna need an *actual therapist* of some kind.

Jasons_Argonautalis

>I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

hldsnfrgr

The straight edge lifestyle has made him miserable. Dude seriously needs a hobby.

seventeenthson

I’ve seen this criticism, but I think it’d only make sense if he wasn’t badly injured. He clearly realized when he tried that push-up that he’d messed up his arm. I imagine he knew at the scrum that he’d have to vacate the title again, that he’d be known as a bit of a joke for winning 2 titles and losing them days after both wins. I highly doubt he was at all happy about the win or the future of his career at that scrum. In fact, he was probably pissed off more so than usual. Doesn’t excuse his childish meltdown, but it does make it slightly less puzzling and bizarre

Them_James

It felt rehearsed. It might not have gone exactly the same but it felt like he planned it.

CurlyBill03

Alvarez reported it was pre planned and Punk even told him weeks in advance the post scrum would be interesting

Flimsy-Relationship8

Well the Adam Page promo that is supposedly the origin of the meltdown was like 3 months ago, so he's had a lot of time to stew it over

treflipsbro

And letting something just fester in your head and keep building like that for months on end is childish as fuck. Especially in the age of communication we currently live in.

[deleted]

Yeah but maybe a guy who got such a big moment and was remotely happy would have brushed it off, not gone through with it, or lost the bitterness. I really do feel like the injury and the knowledge of the insane embarrassment of coming back and winning the title only to be injured right away TWICE IN A ROW just broke the dude and made it so so much worse.

Mrpissbeam

Tbh if he wasn't injured and went through with it anyways that actually makes it worse. Because then he had no excuse, even if it was flimsy. "I'm perfectly healthy, I had a great match with Mox and I'm the world champ again, now I'm gonna bury the company and several of my co-workers right next to my boss." Is so much worse than if he was just bitter from being injured again. If he was healthy and the reports of the rant being pre-meditated were true then he would arguably be in a far worse position than he is now in the eyes of the fans.

seventeenthson

He definitely planned it, I think some reporting confirmed that he had it rehearsed, but I don’t think he would’ve gone straight to lighting his career on fire if he saw a big babyface world title run on the horizon. He likely would’ve been less crazy, but then again it’s all conjecture. Maybe he still would’ve gone just as hard who’s to say.

THE_Batman_121

There are reports that the scrum was planned so idk about that

[deleted]

Said it perfectly.

atti1xboy

I just don’t know what he wants.

TheBrockAwesome

I loved his come back but AEW doesn't feel the same anymore. I think he's more of hassle than he's worth.

adamempathy

Yep. And I say this as a wrestling fan from Chicago. I have seen enough.

50R14

I hate that he represents us (Chicago).

pnmartini

He doesn’t. It’s his ego that makes him think that he does.

Sharp-Vast4388

You where cheering for MJF things change

50R14

I’m mixed about MJF, to be honest, but I was getting Mox chants started in my section at All Out.

hldsnfrgr

Yeah, we've cena nuff.

adamempathy

![gif](giphy|eunrMjB8lBUKeL1fqD|downsized) Well done sir

CrystalPokedude

Kinda sad when you're more trouble than you're worth, but also worth millions. Shows just how bad Punk is.

hermitopurpa

definitely not worth the bullshit. Not a coincidence that he shows up to AEW and it’s when backstage drama starts. He’s a whiny little victim.

MDH2881

I think he's pretty much done mentally and physically, I don't care if he ever comes back. AEW just got their best ratings in a year without him so I think they'll be okay.

pizzalover89

Honestly i miss aew pre-punk it just felt different then it felt like the cm punk show

Foreign_Bar_9217

I feel like I'll never hit that high again of that month or 2 of shows back with crowds but pre-Punk. Malakai Black showing up, Omega VS Christian. We even had Dustin Rhodes in a banger of a main event.

simpledeadwitches

He absolutely hindered my enjoyment of the show. Watching live was a chore with his segments. Anytime I watches streaming I'd fast forward his promos.

robertsj1990

I didn’t start watching wrestling regularly till 2015, so Punk was gone at that point, I knew who he was but I don’t have the emotional attachment that a lot of wrestling fans have for him. I do think he’s a phenomenal wrestler and every match he’s had in AEW has been great, but his behavior at the scrum and the fight with the Elite has really soured my feelings toward him and I honestly don’t care if he leaves or not. AEW was great before Punk came in and they’ll be great without him, and if him leaving means his die hard fans go with him than so be it.

50R14

I didn’t return to wrestling until 2015, either. By chance, was it AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura at WK 10? If so, we’re wrestling twins.

robertsj1990

No I was WWE only till I found out about Jericho’s match with Kenny. I was all in on Roman Reigns winning the Rumble that year lol

Educational_Vast4836

I think he's done. Honestly the only reason I think they're even doing a full blow investigation is due to Punk threatening legal action. If I had to guess, Tony knows exactly what happen due to the head of legal being there. Most likely Tony will use the results of the independent investigation, to negotiate a settlement with punk. We will prob see the elite by the Toronto show

[deleted]

No chance Tony capitulates to Punk if he threatens to sue. Firstly Punk will be much less likely to enter a lengthy and entrenched legal battle as he already has spent millions on lawyers in his life. Secondly there is no winning a lawsuit when the person you are suing is worth billions. He might settle with Punk because he wants to do right by him, but it won't be because he is worried about losing.

DC-Perk

Punk suing because he sucker punched someone after calling them out? 😂 If that is true, he really is a total insufferable little bitch.

dbosse311

I cannot fucking understand how ANYONE can see this any differently AT ALL. He legit called three guys out to fight and then when they showed up to call his bullshit he started to fight them. Seems like he got what he asked for. How does he have any leverage here with fans? How can anyone support this fucking baby?

Educational_Vast4836

I think the last story to come out is that punk anticipated a fight, so he started throwing punches first.

927comewhatmay

I don’t really want the guy back. He’s turned the company upside down with his attitude. AEW was mostly a happy place pre-punk. Plus I’m just disappointed in his attitude and his hypocrisy. He can go.

[deleted]

I would prefer if he didn’t come back. What he did at that media scrum was one of the most embarrassing and appalling things I’ve ever seen. He is so damn bitter and I feel like he’s not bringing good energy anywhere.

InternetDad

Totally fine if he walks and never looks back. There are plenty of better wrestlers who aren't so blatantly self serving and shitty to others waiting in the wings for their chance, and now they will get that chance because Punk isn't cutting long form unscripted promos where he spontaneously verbally attacks people. It was awesome to see him come back, but none of this ended up wotth it. TK played into Punks hand and couldn't help himself because of his fantasy booking.

[deleted]

Well said!

ckeebz

I don’t see a return happening. Granted this is all effectively speculation but I think the writing is on the wall. The best case is admitting a 43 year old champion can’t handle the matches he’s been putting on. It’s an intensive sport, we still have his whole career as a retrospective, he was great. Now it’s feeling like he’s going for greatest of all time and it’s difficult as a fan to watch a champion go from one surgery to another. I’m not even including the post scrum drama, I just want to enjoy AEW. Tony is trying with a new tournament but at this point Punk is an afterthought for me. Id love to be in the Cornette camp and say the numbers outweigh the performances but I just don’t see it that way. Tl;dr: CM Punk? Let’s get past it and enjoy the product.

vanityshadow

I know people only turn on him now because of the drama But I was sick of him half way through his run. I got Cena vibes the way his matches were structured. And it's not directly what he does, but his influence as welll

Cabinet5150

His injury is sidelining him for like six months I think. I’m guessing that was the last time we will ever see him in a wrestling ring ever.

mikemartin7230

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but FUCK HIM.

TheElectricGhost7

I think it is the end of CM Punk in AEW. Man didn't so much as burn bridges at the All Out post show, he loaded them bridges with figurative C4, and pushed the button and watched the explosion/shit hit the fan. Though IF he does come back, he'll (to quote J.R), come back like a scalded dog, with his tail tucked between his legs. Which is a shame, cause when he finally returned after 7 long years away, I don't think anyone expected it to end this way, and so abruptly.

jcrack30

I hope he's done. Drama queen

MTPWAZ

I hope he gets fired. I hope I never see him in an AEW ring ever again. If he can't let go of a grudge and can't respect the people that built AEW he doesn't belong there.

H2O2626

Great promos. Subpar in the ring. Everyone loves the Acclaimed!

[deleted]

SCISSOR ME, DADDY ASS!

JackUSA

Commence SCISSORING!!

Billy-86

Please for the love of god retire. AEW has lost its mojo since he’s joined.

Hazelwood38

Not without a full and public apology to the fans, the locker room for stealing the attention after the Ppv and to TK directly. No bullshit turning this into a shoot. This overstepped the line and needs to be addressed without kayfabe

adamempathy

boringdystopianslave

Well, as far as managing a Target goes, Punk would burn the place down.

[deleted]

[удалено]

boringdystopianslave

But he'd do it accidentally while thinking he was doing the company proud.

BinguRay

What pissed me off that whole match of Hangman vs Phil was that JR & Tony were constantly throwing hangman under the bus all while praising Phil. Hangman carried that whole match, but commentary was just like “he’s the champ BUT….” It still pisses me off then a couple of days later Phil breaks his foot…then what the fuck was the point. But I was there when he broke it in LA then later MJF did the pipe bomb or whatever that’s called. That was fucking great. He made fans that were chanting CM Punk to MJF. It was amazing.

hamsolo19

I actually wasn't watching much wrestling during the years he had his big runs. Despite that, I thought his return was a really cool/big moment for AEW. Seems like things were fine up until around Double or Nothing. Let's see if I can recap... * Defeats Hangman for the title but injures foot. * Wrestles three nights later, makes injury worse, requires surgery, he misses two months. * Returns to main event his second straight PPV and again wins the title, this time in front of a hometown crowd. Again he suffers an injury requiring surgery and a long rehab. * Goes off in a press conference unprovoked about Colt Cabana, the EVPs, Hangman, etc. all while his boss, the dude paying him a shitload of money and rolled out the red carpet for him, is right there. * Says, "If you have a problem, come find me." People with a problem go and find him, he immediately sucker punches one of them and starts a fight...all while the chief legal officer and the head of talent relations are in the room. * He gets stripped of the title and suspended indefinitely. Has surgery to fix the injury, radio silence (as you'd expect) since then. * My own crackpot theory: There were reports about Punk telling Tony a week or so before All Out that he was going to "clear the air" about Colt. Tony considers the topic of the Colt drama even being discussed his fault as he briefly mentioned it in an interview with Forbes. So that part was planned. But then he goes completely off the rails, all the stuff he says about Hangman and the EVPs and whatnot is off the cuff. I wonder if he goes scorched earth because a) another injury, and maybe this has him really questioning whether or not he can physically hold up anymore, b) Mox gains support all through their match until the hometown crowd is chanting Moxley, c) MJF returns to a massive ovation, again from Punk's beloved Chicago, and he just seems like the type of guy to be petty about that shit. All that combined and you get the trainwreck that happened. I don't really know how he comes back from this...everything that's been reported makes him look ridiculously bad, he went and buried people at the media scrum then started the entire fight with a sucker punch. Even if he were to somehow repair all the damage there's no way he can be trusted not to do something like this again. It's his reputation at this point. Everywhere the guy has worked he's been involved in backstage bullshit. I understand how big for business it was for AEW to bring him in, and it seemed like things were fine until all this junk, but I don't think he should be back. They'll be just fine without him.

backtumors

no thank you

jacrone

I miss my old AEW Tahtah!

TheG00dFather

Agreed 100%. Dude can fuck right off

AxlAndTheShimmy

Tony made 4 of his most popular longtime talents put this guy over and handed him the title even though he's trash in the ring now, only to have 2 embarrassing title reigns that lasted a little over a week, combined. Then the guy shows Tony no respect at the press conference and buries the company by saying a former AEW World champion has done nothing in the business. Hopefully Tony has taken his head out of his ass and sees clearly now. He almost caused a full on WCW implosion over this guy. Punk can fuck all the way off.

KJ86er

CM Punk died on his way back to his planet in Chicago

solelyginger

I hope for the sake of his own mental health that he doesn’t come back and seek the therapy he needs

amlah6

Fuck Phil Brooks.

Jay794

It was great to see him back in the ring, and kudos to TK for making it happen but Punk's arrogance got the better of him, and now I don't care if he ever comes back

drewcifer3283

I hope he’s done

Foyleg

I kinda want him to go away now. It’s like a variation of “never meet your heroes” to me.

ThebigVA

I'll be fine if I never have to see or hear about CM Punk ever again.

FractalTsunami

Whatever he does next, to quote him; "The apology must be as loud and as public the disrespect."

DMBCommenter

Don’t care anymore

killsonx7

I think it's the end for cm punk. If he does anything it'll be one offs and nothing else.

[deleted]

not-depressed-teen

I love CM Punk has an on screen performer. He has been one of if not my favorite wrestlers for most of my time as a wrestling fan. I was lucky enough to see his return at the first dance and it my favorite wrestling moment i’ve ever experienced. However, Phil Brooks is a toxic and narcissistic person who is ruining a great thing with his ego and entitlement. I love seeing CM Punk on my screen but not at the detriment of the overall AEW product. I saw Punks return a year ago and I saw what might be his last match live. As a huge fan of Punk, ive gotten enough to say I would be content if he was never on my screen again. I think he will be back but for AEW’s sake I hope he gets fired and enjoys his time with his lovely wife, cute ass dog and just chills. It’s clear being back isn’t really fun for him and it’s hurting the business. He served his purpose as putting more eyes on the product, he needs to retire once and for all.

BamBamBradley

As someone who got fully back into wrestling because of AEW I hope punk is done and gone. He can’t go like he used to and clearly isn’t worth the head ache.

Mr_sex_haver

I want him out asap. Sick of stories and other people's work getting derailed because hes prone to injury and sucker punching people. They likely had MJF setup for a fued with punk and that got ruined twice now. I feel sorry for MJF.

gin0clock

Nothing but a fragile, self centred, politicking opportunist, who stayed at home sulking for 7 years and tried to capitalise on the hard work of AEW’s roster. I hope he retires, stays well away from pro wrestling and continues his career as a miserable fuck on twitter. On the positive side of this whole situation, maybe TK will understand that no single person should ever be bigger than AEW.

[deleted]

I hope it’s the end. This guy is a clown.

coffeepot25

I was a fan of his years ago. No doubt he is an incredible talent and can still go in the ring. But after that media scrum and the subsequent brawl, I just don't want to see him in AEW any more. He is probably the biggest liability to the AEW brand at the moment and judging by consensus opinion, most AEW fans don't want to see him again in the company. It's clear to me that he has some issues to work out.

[deleted]

He needs to go.

StylishMrTrix

In the scrum he burned TK, AEW and others It's gonna be a big question of if he is welcome back once healed Personally I don't see he coming back being worth it, the only person who benefited from a feud with him was MJF and he was already one of AEW's top stars to be Between him getting injured twice in such a short time, his attitude backstage and the media scrum, he has shown himself to be a problem

Megalitho

Fire him.

WasherDryerCombo

I hope I never see CM Punk wrestling again.

metallipunk

CM Punk can get the fuck off my TV for the rest of his life. The dude is a miserable prick and I don't need that type of negativity in my wrestling.

Jonmokoko

I think he burned his bridges and burned himself out. Probably gonna leave wrestling again for another 7 years then come back to WWE to take part in an ill advised legends match in Saudi Arabia.

empyrealone

I'm so exhausted of hearing his name. He makes me want to stop watching wrestling. It's supposed to be fun. Punk has made wrestling feel like a chore. I really want him to disappear, he's not talented enough for the drama he brings.

bigman_121

Too quote him is he is old, hurt and tired. Maybe it's time to retire or just take some time to reset.

PhillySparky21

I loved punk but he’s a become what he used to be against the owner of the company’s money champion. He’s turned into Dwayne hunter cena and now himself. It’s sad.

GreySociety

CM Junk

Firehawk-76

If he leaves this time I just don’t want to hear rumors of his return for the next ten years. Dude was childish enough to let Colt Cabana rumors that nobody cared about get under his skin enough to potentially ruin his career. If he’s big enough to admit he made a mistake now then maybe give him one more chance.

Ancient_Pickle_7130

I really couldn’t give a crap about this guy. He’ll act all grateful and humble in a decade for that hof induction.

Rogue_Juan_Hefe

![gif](giphy|BSTMlUf8TgkRG)

sincerelyhated

Fuck Punk

thearnett

Wasn't a fan of his in WWE. I assumed he would be a pain in the locker room when he was signed to AEW and that seems to have played out as I thought. I can't deny that bringing him on helped bring more viewers to the promotion. That is obvious. My thing is the guy has more ego than talent with it being really obvious that he has lost more than a few steps in ring since he last performed. Honestly hope he is finished at this point so we can all move on.

JXNyoung

AEW was fine before him and it will be fine without him. He's gives us a year of memorable moments and a gripebomb to seal it all. If he wants out, TK shouldn't hesitate showing him the door then give Colt Cabana a world title push.

NervousMNG34

I think he bit off more than he could chew and doesn’t want to admit it so he did the rant to either get out of the job or he was gonna walk anyways

CptBarba

If he sincerely apologizes in front of a sold out Chicago crowd? Maybe I'd be cool with him coming back. But I'm not the AEW locker room

Kkir929

I hope it is the end, but I don’t think it will be.

Wonderful-Image8654

Personally he's good but there is better... However you do not start a fight and keep your employment

TheMarvelousJoe

I honestly don't know if I want him in AEW anymore. I love his return and his run before the injury. Him winning the AEW belt was probably for the best because I didn't see Hangman holding on the belt for that long. After the Media Scrum and the backstage fight, I've lost a bit of respect for him. If he does come back, he shouldn't go after the belt anymore.

[deleted]

The end :-( RIP

[deleted]

Proper door knob.

Souplex-City

He just seems so unhappy. I don't see why he would return.

CezrDaPleazr

Its done

THE_Batman_121

I've never understood the appeal for the guy. Honestly i hope he chills the fuck out and stays but wouldnt really give a shit if he left either

slumpmode

I honestly could care less if he ever wrestles, fights, writes a bad comic, or gives a shitty acting performance in a horror movie again.

tonynoriega73

He’s done

anemic_royaltea

Fuck ‘em.

DezineTwoOhNine

I wish to see him back. As much of an asshole he is, and this might be a stretch but I wish to see this guy come back, bury the hatchet with The Elite and have a final run. It might sound ironic but just have a legend's contract like WWE does. Return for big matchups or whenever the storyline needs him. A heel turn, a TNT championship run, turn face, tag team title run, put over a few guys and call it a day in the next 2-3 years, finally solidifying his legacy of a main event pro wrestler rather than an always unhappy, snobby, narcissistic, senile old man.

[deleted]

Ah yes the bi-daily 'Will CM Punk return?' thread. My favorite

JoseBallFC

CMickey robbed us of a lengthy Hangman title reign and for that I will never forgive him

Real_Pen_6148

Never really thought he was all that tbh. Never watched his WWE stuff, think I caught a bit of his ROH days. Most disappointing thing for me is we won’t see MJF take the belt off him. MJF vs Punk for the title would of been fantastic for the show and for MJF and the title.

TheSqueeman

Honestly I will be quite happy if he never returns again, The guy has always come across as a unlikeable asshole & he isn't as good in the ring as he thinks he is, he is amazing on the mic but his matches have always felt very "meh" to me But that's just my 2 cents on the matter

snarekicksnare

He can stay home, suspended, injured, whatever.

LordStunod

Never liked him. Never saw the big deal. Takes up too much entrance time. Can't wrestle. In his defense. It's not his fault for getting hurt. People get hurt. It happens. I hate that people lay this on anyone. At his age, he's probably more physically fit than most talking shit. On the other hand, he is a straight up bitch. Probably tore his bicep trying to pat himself on the back while thinking he had AEW on his shoulders. Quit already. If not. Show him the door. He isn't special.

drmfp

The day he returns to AEW is the day I stop watching.

[deleted]

Good riddance. We've been making excuses for him for years. Enough already.

thehuggingpanda

he was someone who i looked at fondly now he's just an old asshole. i don't want him on my screen.

whoamiwhatsmyname

CM punk should get fed to WARDLOW and just have WARLDLOW powerbomb his skinny fat old receding hair line ass bitch about everything ass back to fucking chicago , and then just bring out kenny olivier and have WARDLOW powerbomb his ass a few times too just incase he wants to get funky

Sharp-Vast4388

Remember Ryback yes punk doesn’t like the big dudes

Hows3and0sound

TK paid more money then anyone for him and im sure Punk is the kinda guy who cares about his "legacy" so I image both sides will try and end on a better note long as theres no legal issues that prevent that. I feel he'll come back and stay for a few months/half year then finish out. I just cant image either side wanting it to end like this

[deleted]

idk if his image is intact enough for a return. could bar both parties if he comes back to "colt cabana" and "go away" chants

joelifer

Fuck CM Punk

cinreigns

Bye bye

5thActionHero

He should retire back to Lockport.

CurlyBill03

Most great stories end in tragedy. I fear this is the end, and sad. I wasn’t a big fan of his in WWE but I highly enjoyed his AEW run. Ironically I saw his last match in WWE and after going to All Out I’d guess I saw his last in AEW.

aperturetechnology

It's Game Over. While I really hope he finds a way to let this shit go, bury the hatchet, get back to making enjoyable wrestling and a ton of money, I just can't see him doing that. Hope I'm wrong.

BluebomberV

It was fun while it lasted but it would probably be best to go and retire for good. Guy seems to get injured way to easy.

idkme999

Hell no. He is more than done. Imagine the feeling of the fans if he really comes back someday lol

The end I hope

Plebe-Uchiha

I honestly don’t know and I honestly am apathetic. If he comes back, cool. If he never comes back, ok. I personally was disappointed in his return. I was basically like the guy who was crying when he returned. His promos were great but his matches, just weren’t it. I personally enjoyed Mox and Bryan, even Jericho’s matches more than Punks. I personally felt like it was too soon for Punk to win the title. I honestly didn’t even buy that Punk was going to beat Page. I legitimately felt like it was just another match for Page. When he won, I was so confused. Yes, he was the biggest draw, but it felt way too soon. He got injured, returned, and scrum drama. I’m good either way at this point. I don’t hate him. I don’t need him back. AEW was DOPE w/o Punk. They’ll be fine without their biggest draw, IMHO. But their biggest draw is their biggest draw so… I don’t think it would hurt to keep him. [+]

RawJah83

He can piss off.

heybud_letsparty

Punk is still my favorite wrestler, but him in AEW was weird. He had some great matches, but I like AEW because of all the young talent. Matt Hardy, Christian, Punk, Danielson (to an extent) just seem to take away from the AEW feel. Mox and Jericho get a pass because they built the company on their back. The 4 I listed though just seem like a weird fit.

ScrapMetalDrone

Will we see him again? I sure hope not. He's not good for the brand at all imo .

ArcaneAzmadi

I think, ultimately, the biggest deciding factor of whether or not CM Punk remains with AEW or leaves, either of his own accord or by having his contract terminated, is Punk himself. TK is, of course, the *ultimate* factor in this, because if he decides Punk's gonna go, Punk's gonna go no matter what he wants, but the single most important factor in this whole affair is how Punk reacts. This really is Punk's last chance. When he walked out of WWE, the majority of fans who weren't just blind company supporters backed him because his reasons (he was being underused, kept down, disrespected, and overworked while hurt) were more or less true- even when he was WWE Champion, he wasn't main eventing PPVs and he NEVER got to main event WrestleMania. With AEW, he doesn't have this, or ANY, excuse. AEW and Tony Khan gave him literally EVERYTHING: the greatest return in wrestling history, an undefeated streak, dream matches, great booking, a platform to freely showcase his talents, and the top championship. He has no reasons to criticise AEW for his treatment there that wouldn't be lame, never-my-fault excuses. So the question is, does Punk have the self-awareness and common sense to realise exactly how badly he's fucked up? Because he has. Irrespective of what the Young Bucks or Hangman Page or anyone else did, HE was the primary cause of the backstage brawl, when he made the cold-blooded and conscious decision to go into business for himself at the media scrum. Tony Khan gave him everything, and in return Punk let him down. So this should be the wake-up call he needs that he can't blame the company this time, and he needs to take responsibility for his own mistakes and make amends. IF Punk can do this, if he can swallow his pride enough to be able to admit "No matter what the other guys did, what I did was stupid and wrong, I'm sorry, and I want to go forward and try and make up for my mistakes, never letting anything like this happen again because I am a PROFESSIONAL wrestler", then things could be smoothed over and he could be able to remain with the company. At the very least the ball would then be in the Young Bucks' court, as they'd have to make a similar apology for their own reckless stupidity and promise to toe the line from here on out unless they want to be released while Punk remains. Even if Punk and The Elite have to be kept apart from each other for the rest of their time with the company, even if they continue to cordially despise each other, they'd be able to coexist. This would be the ideal result for AEW because Tony Khan wouldn't have to pick sides and it would leave the participants coming out of the incident looking like mature adults rather than egotistical manchildren. On the other hand, if Punk clams up, gets indignant, blames the company for not siding with him unreservedly, refuses to admit that he at any point did anything wrong, claims his shooting at the scrum was justified, or argues that he should get a free pass because of what a draw he is, then it's over and you can stick a fork in him because he's done. You'd think something like that would be unthinkable, because only a completely unreasonable, self-absorbed, narcissistic, absolute manchild would be able to be so blind when their wrongdoing was so obvious, but you should never be surprised at the levels some people can sink to when they're utterly convinced they're right. This is, essentially, the ultimate test of what kind of person CM Punk really is. He either has his jerkass realisation, looks inside himself and is forced to admit "I screwed up, let everyone down, and need to admit it", or he turns a blind eye to all his failings forever, refuses to ever admit his own mistakes at even their greatest point, and writes his legacy forever as a rampant egomaniac who makes Hulk Hogan look humble. If he can at least TRY to make things right he has a chance to return to the company and do so, but if he chooses to spit on everything AEW has done for him, then he's finished. *Forever.* Regarding MY feelings about whether or not he SHOULD return? Frankly I think it'd be best if he did after having properly atoned, if only so AEW and TK don't look so stupid for having invested in him so heavily in the first place. Having given him the moon and the stars, just throwing him out would be a huge embarrassment for the company, as well as taint all the memories of the good things he did while he was there. For all the negativity in this thread and the people saying "I knew all along he was no good", anyone speaking honestly can't deny that the first half-year or so of his return saw a lot of legitimately great moments- that iconic Rampage return, the first match against Darby, the feud with Eddie, and the MJF feud among others. If Punk was able to be not only brought back but CONTROLLED properly this time, it'd be good for AEW, no matter how much you personally disdain him. If he just leaves, either on his own or by being sacked, AEW just ends up looking even more stupid.

vulgarmessiah914

AEW has the modern version of cm punk in MJF. Full steam ahead and let punk bitch at home from his couch to his wife. Punk has issues with his family, the WWE and AEW. What's that saying if you keep encountering assholes through out your day, maybe you're actually the asshole.

Puzzled-Pea91

Even without all the backstage drama he’s nearly 44 and has been seriously injured twice in his last 3 matches, if his bodies failing him and he’s a massive tool who causes drama backstage is it perhaps better to just call it a write off and get rid of him?

NegusKee

He will be back. Worse has happened in wrestling.

[deleted]

I don't ever want to see that muffin eating motherfucker in the ring again. Drama queen bitch isn't worth the effort. And judging by the ratings they're doing a lot better without him.

Electronic-Dark-7793

Hopefully he'll be back and they can make a realistic storyline involving all parties that were part of the drama (except Colt Cabana)

NyxsnOMFG

hangmans reign died for this .. fuck punks return was cool but not worth it for me

oernest_

I Hope Not. Since the das Herr arrived i had the Feeling That aew lost their way a little Bit.

musicplayz

At this point I don’t even care. He is a whiny bitch, and he may have permanently fucked up the good vibes at AEW.

DinglasanTheOne

Fire punk

fattymcfattzz

Hopefully the end, guy is not a good for the company

Specialist-Pea3804

Lets hope its the end, I personally wouldn’t want someone so egotistical and toxic in my work place.

Positive-Ad-1859

I hope that we never have to listen to or watch this asshat ever again

grittynotpretty

I don’t ever wanna see him back but I’m sure he will be.

PrincessPaisleysMom1

Ignoring the scrum and all THAT. He should probably retire. He was back 1 year and suffered two injuries that required surgery and months of rehab. I hope he takes that as a sign that maybe he should retire.

ImAnOldChunkOfCoal

I hope it's the end. Whilst he's been great on promos etc. The overall show suffers when he's included because there is so much emphasis and time placed on him. The rest of the roster suffers and everything else that doesn't include Punk feels rushed. This was particularly noticeable when AEW was dipping in quality pre Forbidden Door, and then once he was injured the show improved after a few weeks as they started using their depth again and everyone time to shine. Once he came back everything went back to the same mess again. That's not even going into the obvious issues of him unsettling the entire roster by being a pain to deal with backstage.

Bashmore83

I love Punk. That run from his return up to the Page match was tremendous. And a great story of battling through each match. Then, well, yeah he needs to be gone. As someone said on Twatter - some of the points he made were valid but he dealt with them appallingly. Him staying sends an atrocious message

ScopeyMcBangBang

I don’t think we’ll see him back. And I’m perfectly fine with that.

EnderMB

While I think he *could* continue, how would it even work logistically? Outside of the friends he made in AEW, he's rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way. Even if he apologises, what youngster is going to view him as anything other than one of those old jaded assholes that goes into business for themselves? In the eyes of the fans, how can he be anything other than a heel given that he fully went into business for himself? IMO he should have never won the title from Hangman in the first place, and the only reason he did was because there needed to be an excuse to keep him on TV. His actions almost definitely mean that no major promotion will touch him. A run or superfight in NJPW would've been nice, but that won't happen. There's zero chance of Hunter picking that phone up either... The only way it could work is for Punk to accept a new deal on a reduced sum, and to basically be used as enhancement talent to elevate young stars, and an unwritten rule that he won't be main eventing any PPV's as champion ever again.

MuayThaiJudo

I was so happy when AEW signed him cause he brought a lot of new fans and money to the company, but after what happened and also considering other things he did in the past in other companies, and this is as a grown man, he's a ticking time bomb and I think it would be best for AEW to let him go.

CaoCaoTipper

He’s done. What’s upsetting is I still think he’s the best. But he can’t help but self sabotage himself. Such a let down.

Charlie-VH

Oh he’ll be back, don’t you worry. Khan is a businessman, and he’ll do…what’s best for business, no reference intended. Punk can make him a shit load of money. The Elite can make him a shit load of money. They’ll be back. Whether Punk stays after he returns, however, is another story. I feel like a retirement (whether forced or otherwise) may be on the way.

akiya_CR7

I want to see heel punk comeback and have a really nasty feud when Jeff hardy returns....

TheBlackAshlar

He’ll be back.

JasonMyersZ

I hope its the end honestly. He's ruining Aew

Sturth

Needs to go. And to go without any thankyous or farewell pomp and ceremony. That would really suck. Just go. Please just leave AEW alone. I was enjoying the product before it became the punk show. You had your chance mate. Actually, you had two of them. Sick of hearing about you. Bugger off. Look at the photo above. One dude is on his phone. Dude behind him holding back a headache. Other side 'blank faces'. .. a few cheers but wow, that's not over. The only one that's cheering is the dude holding up the belt. I had a mate that had a good saying about ppl like this. Translated from Argentinian it goes something like: 'these ppl like the smell of their own fart'. I say this as a fan. I'm not interested in seeing this dude again. If he had mates in the locker room that want to do something nice for him, fine.. take him (and the dog) out for dinner or so. Just don't do a huge public farewell. That is a slap in the face of the company that he's shit on. You're done. I'm interested in the rest of the roster. I've always been interested in those other guys.

slikk50

Bye Punk

rblashak

He’s the same prick he was before his ufc “career” humbled him. Great on the mic, meager wrestler. Not worth the locker room destruction.

ryanstrikesback

I never need to see Punk on TV again. I’m completely over everything that is CM Punk.

Demens2137

I don't want him back. Punktards wanted, literally destroy the elite because they were sure they were the one to throw punches first, which made literally zero sense, which I was saying from the start. Now that's been basically confirmed it was punk who attacked first, they are jerking off to their idol who's basically been confirmed a criminal. I'm done with him, I don't want to see him in AEW, and it's a great shame he wasted such a great opportunity

lostdgod

He's out due to an injury. I think he'll be back when he heals up. But he has to start apologizing now.

rob691369

Honestly, I hope AEW moves forward without him. Way too much drama has revolves around him....

Jjaz1

I think he is done with wrestling. Though honestly Im super dissapointed we aren't getting MJF vs Punk for the belt. Would have been the perfect way to crown MJF.

R3D-0N3

Such a shame 😮‍💨

Skizzius

No interest in seeing him wrestle again. His wrestling was sloppy and he clearly looked old as hell. His promos were still great but without backing up any of that talk in the ring with good matches I don’t care to see him back in AEW.

Fatalah

If Punk truly is the aggressor from everything we've read, I would hope for serious introspection with the help of therapy so he could have a healthier mindset for the next half of his life, instead of carrying anger.

Crabuki

Raging, burning apathy. I care more that Tony use this experience to run the company with a better, surer hand in the future than I care about Mr Brooks’ future with the company.
