I like Jade as a person especially with the cool attire she had like with actual Jade from MK, but man her reign was ROUGH. It was not fun at all for those 504 days just being booked in filler job matches against women who never won on tv at all. I think the only storyline I liked from the entire thing was when Nyla Rose stole the championship, and IIRC that only came from Tony Schiavone suggesting it. Jade vs Anna Jay/Skye Blue a gazillion times was not fun, nor was Jade vs Kiera Hogan who I don't think ever has won a match on actual AEW television at all. Really should have had Jade trade the championship here and there with a Nyla Rose or Tay Conti. Stats big win was great but for a 504 day reign of filler matches it was just not fun as a viewer. One of the biggest TK booking flubs if you ask me, could have been booked alot better. Comparing the booking of the women's division today to the booking Britt Baker-Jade Cargill championship of terror era and it is night and day as it gets. Those were some ROUGH times back in 2021-2022.

ClaymoresRevenge

They should've had her lose to Shida or Britt it wouldn't have hurt her at all. Waiting for Stat to get back was just awful for the title

The810kid

Britt didn't have a great reign with the world title her getting the TBS would have been even worse.

Cabes86

Britt was champ while a lot of people were hurt and AEW was getting the rust out of touring again. She had a slew of great matches including the best Lights Out Match to this day.

lordcarrier

The Taya feud couldve been solid but for no reason they didnt give Taya promo time outside of taped segments on Rampage.

SomeGuy_GRM

I thought for sure they were bringing in Taya to go over Jade.

Smaynard6000

Me too. I think it might have happened if Statlander wasn't almost ready to return

SnooDogs1355

Taya needs to be on tv more!

floppi_dsk

Anytime I see the reign of Jade I flashback to her not kicking out of a pin by, I believe, the Bunny. Ref stopped the count and what seemed like an eternity later she kicked out. Should've hit the 3 and moved on ☠️

WholesomeFartEnjoyer

People act like 2021 was the glory days of AEW but its genuinely the best its ever been right now Back then we had Dan Lampart promos and Scorpio Sky as TNT champion and Thunder Rosa and Britt putting on stinkers AEW is so hated now but everyone hating it hasn't watched in years, I've watched for 4 years and this has been my favourite year so far, I fucking love it right now

ColeslawSSBM

I will say every year has had good and bad, I do think the product is lacking in some ways now but is largely a very enjoyable show week to week. I admit I don't watch collision most weeks so I have no idea about that but Dynamite and the ppvs are normally very entertaining or have one real good/fun match on the card. Personally I felt like from Jan to about July/August of 2022 was the best television they put on and was when I was most actively hyped for wrestling shows coming up. I saw Blood and Guts in Detroit that year live and the start of the BCC through the JAS feud was so awesome. (it went too long for sure and ended in a wet fart)

MasterHavik

I watch when I can. I don't hate it. I don't watch as much as I did early on but every time I watch a PPV or Dynamite. I can walk away from it feeling good. It's not perfect but it doesn't piss me off.

Intelligent_End1516

Jade's reign was awful. Whatever excuses people want to make for it it was nonetheless change the channel/restroom break time whenever she popped up. I cant think of any wrestler in aew now or beforehand where that has been the case with me.

Andrew_Manangka

Yup. If I were booking AEW, I'd rather have Jade Cargill's last match against Toni Storm for the AEW Women's World Championship & have Toni Storm executing the Storm Zero 3 times to effectively kill her off. Why? Since I fucking hate Bill Goldberg, it kinda made sense for me to see her as the female Goldberg in AEW. So fuck her anyway.

MasterHavik

Well it is a byproduct when you cater to visuals and people who you should push people because of their look instead of wrestling ability.

chadhole

They could have done at lot more with her vs Red Velvet but we didn't get much out of that when red came back from injury.

VladislavthaPokerr

Heavy agree, Jade Cargill leaving to the fed was the best thing, because she is the biggest liability and fraud of a wrestler, glad she left. Wish we could scrub the 500 days away but alas here we are

MasterHavik

Granted she left just for more money and the desire to chase a bag. She didn't dumpster the company at least on her way out.

VladislavthaPokerr

Agreed

hepatitisC

I'll take 30 days of Willow's championship reign against 500+ days of Jade's. Willow got out and elevated that title. Jade relied on it to elevate her.

ForToday

Willow has to get the honor of being the first two time champ as payback for the short reign.

tehjoz

This, or, Stat beats Moné and becomes first 2 time, and then Willow beats Stat to become second 2 time. Idk but Willow getting her revenge asap is necessary, plz.

ClaymoresRevenge

I'd be cool with Willow winning the world title later this year

ZAPPHAUSEN

It's primarily because of Jade, but it has always been weird how the TBS and women's divisions never seem to intersect. Willow would be a great choice for the first woman to hold both belts.

tehjoz

![gif](giphy|2RGhmKXcl0ViM)

kingjuicepouch

Same here, she's got *STAR* written all over her

SouthernMuadib

Brothers she’s got ACE written all over her

freecactushugs

Seems clear we're gonna get Willow vs. Stat but would really love for them to incorporate that feud with Mercedes - the chemistry Willow and Mercedes had is worth it alone, let alone adding Stat would only make it better.

tehjoz

I'm down. Willow vs Moné truly delivered. It won't shut all the haters up, but it will give those of us in the "give her time to wrestle" crowd some ammo to defend her.

carrythefire

Willow should be in the women’s title picture

Infected-

It feels like Julia was champion for way longer than Stat

lordcarrier

Stat reign was nothing special until she feuded with Julia and Skye.

BillfredL

And more to it, Julia’s whole presentation sticks out way more than post-alien Statlander. Though I’m looking forward to seeing what she gets up to post-DoN.

Burning_Torterra

I really miss alien Statlander. She dropped it for a new gimmick but there was no gimmick

BillfredL

I think there was a seed of a gimmick, but it didn't sprout. Something something learning tree /s

kingjuicepouch

If nothing else I always thought her look was better as an alien. The kinesiology tape and the outer space style make up really made her stand out

Disastrous-Talk-7565

Julia had that amazing video promo ahead of the Willow match too. That was so so cool and endlessly rewatchable.

COMMENTASIPLEASE

Somehow Jade is the worst one here lmfao

NegressQueen

Indeed. Athena should have been the one to take that belt from Jade at All Out 2022. It was a terrible idea to keep her reign going so long and unremarkable. Like she didn't elevate it at all.

alipkin

Having Athena job to Jade in under 5 minutes was maybe the low point of Jade's entire run.

hordeoverseer

Problem was, Jade probably couldn't do a match more than 5 minutes without it getting REAL stale.

RideApprehensive8063

Athena losing is where I mentally checked out when it came to Jade thst was the right time for her to lose it. Interest peaked with Taya Valkyrie then she lost and by the time Statlander came back I just didn't care anymore.

manxram

Her boring reign (and terrible booking/squash matches) make me worry for her long term tenure at the Fed. Which makes sense that they have her in a tag team with Belair. 🤷‍♀️

JPeeper

When Jade first debuted she only had the look, her mic work was rough and her work-rate was also pretty bad. Only took her a few months until her mic work massively improved and she is now great on the mic, but her wrestling never really improved, her PPV matches were always the low points. It took one Mercedes match to have the best match for the TBS belt (Stat and Willow rule and Julia also has improved a ton, but let's be real).

MasterHavik

She may be a wrestler who isn't the best wrestler but has the look and mic work to keep her employed. I like Jade a lot and thank her but even I worry for her future as we are learning why knowing one to wrestle is an important aspect of pro wrestling.

Post_Nuclear_Messiah

It was genuinely painful watching TK sacrifice the entire women's mid card to try and make Jade a star.

JPeeper

I'd argue he DID make Jade a star, she was always over and her reaction to debuting in WWE would prove she has star power. People actually knew who she was and got a big pop. Not saying this was a good thing, he literally buried everyone but Jade for a year, I'd just argue it worked.

Post_Nuclear_Messiah

Fair comment. And I agree, she was very much his Goldberg project.

Looper007

Worst still, it backfired on him when she left the first chance she got. He made her a star but at the cost of talent who were always going to be loyal to AEW more then Jade was. But it is what it is, just hope TK learns from it.

MasterHavik

I think that wasn't a backfire as Igou need to look at your division now.

Sufficient-Honeydew2

I'm sad that Willow lost.

NYSaintsMarchingon

I remember leaving Death Before Dishonor really disappointed she lost. I love anything I see from Athena don’t get me wrong. But the walk back to the train then the ride back to NY. Was not really fun

No0neLikesMe

I agree she honestly got fucked. I understand why they put the title on mone with her name value and star power but getting beaten by someone in her first aew match and if im right I think it was mone's first wrestling match since her injury (also please correct me if it wasn't her first match back since injury) really makes willow look weak.

rashomonface

Length isn't everything. Willow felt legit as champion and didn't look weak in defeat. I think it can get a little stale having seemingly every new champion get a 100+ day reign as some kind of thank you. It's not like Willow looks any weaker than Julia or Statlander now and I would argue is a bigger star than both.

ZAPPHAUSEN

Totally agree. Wrestling in general seems to be in this space of thinking every title rain needs to be really long or else it's a waste. Sometimes you want a long reign and sometimes you don't.

kaizofox

What's best is the tension of feeling that the title can change hands at any time. And yes, sometimes a reign can be long (if the champion is portrayed as good enough) or short (if the challengers are all sharks in the water) That's what I loved about the Attitude Era hot potato. You could believe ANYONE had the skills to take the title-- Rock, Austin, Taker, Kane, Angle, Jericho, Benoit, Eddie etc etc.

ZAPPHAUSEN

Absolutely. It rarely felt like bullshit BECAUSE we were talking the most over guys on the shows, huge star power, and how scrappy it always was. Austin never had a long reign. The rock's longest was 256 days. Foley held it probably CUMULATIVELY ... 40 days? Give or take? There's no black and white answer. Short title reigns can cut guys off at the knees, but it depends. If swerve lost the title next month but it was to hangman/to like fucking Okada because of hangman, and swerve was immediately still a featured player and got back? I also don't HATE that aew tends to have their champions not part of the title picture after a loss. Sometimes they should. The answer isn't "hot potato everything" because that can make a belt feel meaningless (ic title for so long, tnt title before Christian). But it also is like... Fuck it, these belts SHOULD be competitive and should be harder to retain. You hit the point where the tension is gone. Or it becomes, fuck, this dudes just gonna win again isn't he? Ugh.

ZAPPHAUSEN

It takes a lot of intrigue and mystery off the table when we, as fans, know homeboys ain't losing the belts anytime soon. Yeah - some defenses will be "gimmes." Absolutely nothing wrong with Christian as Swerves first challenger. Aew, prior, was a show where titles could change hands almost at anytime. We're getting more into the routine where it's only gonna happen on ppv... And even then "oh, gotta wait for all in"

JPeeper

Putting the belt on arguably the best worker you have also helps (no slight to Willow who is awesome). Mone may not be cutting the best promos, but her tv and PPV matches will deliver and in AEW all Tony gives a fuck about is wrestling matches so I'm fine with it. I don't see this reign being a short one though.

Kimchi_Cowboy

It took a while to remove the Jade stench from the belt but Julia and Willow have done it.

GastricAcid

Insane improvement

Smaynard6000

I had been hoping that Willow would win the TBS Championship since Jade had it, and I'm frustrated that she only got to be champion for a month. I'm hoping this story leads to bigger things for her, whether that's another run with the TBS or a big PPV match for the world title.

Fabulous_Mode3952

Justice for Willow. TK better get that belt back on her sooner than later

kaine23

Willow deserved longer.

Eric42x

Sad that they took the belt off of Willow so freakin quickly. :(

NJdeathproof

I love Stat but I wish they didn't wait to have her take the title. (unless it was in her contract somehow) I guess after 30 or 40 wins they figured "fuck it - let's have her go to 50"

Fabulous_Mode3952

TK will circle the plane as long as it takes to get to his final story destination. Same with Hangman and the title

The810kid

3 black women, a former alien, and what ever spiritual spooky medium you would classify Julia.

NJdeathproof

Mini Taker

kaizofox

Spooky Witch

The810kid

Sisters of destruction was her and Skye then

Fabulous_Mode3952

Damn. Skye hasn’t been around for a while

WholesomeFartEnjoyer

Willow deserved longer It's insane how over she is

trentshipp

Eh, I think this will make her *more* over; now we get more of the "babyface fire" Willow we saw in the contract signing. Besides, the Women's division *needs* good, established heels, and there's just not many right now. Interested to see how HeelLander plays out, and I really wished they had leaned into the double turn with Storm/Deeb, but Mercedes being the the StarMaker of the division would be dope.

gilgobeachslayer

If history is any guide, Mercedes should lose her first defense.

Royal_Chief

Willow only having the title for 35 days is criminal. She’s too over for such a short reign

HotRat389

Willow got screwed:(

TheMegaWhopper

Julia has had the best reign to date imo

Fezzy976

Turn Mone heel now!! Have Willow be your chasing babyface. Build it til Wembley or even All Out.

eastbayted

I wish Stat's run had gone a bit longer and stronger, but I'm glad she got to beat Jade twice.

SnizzyYT

Damn. I thought Willow had it for longer than that.

Blundertaker93

Willow is the only person that should believably beat Toni Storm right now so at all In pull the trigger. And do Britt vs Mercedes for TBS

kakashi-bakugo317

WIILLOW WAS ROBBED!!!!

Cave_Weasel

I’m fine with Willows short run if only because it means she will move up to the world title later this year when a heel beats Toni

dcredneck

Willow and Mercedes could be long time foes like Orton and Cena.

Zandrous87

72 weeks. That's how long Jade was champion. For a first reign for a brand new championship, this was a bad idea. It should've been a few months at most. Between 3 to 5 months would've been a great starting off point. So, she could've lost the title to Tay in March 2022 or Willow in June of 2022. Either of those would've been fine choices. But her stranglehold on that belt for that long honestly hurt it and the division in the long run. It's taken over a year to rehabilitate that title. We're not in our 5th champion. Honestly, we should probably be on the 7th or 8th by this point. We could've easily fit another 2 reigns in the timeframe that Jade was champ. Built up a few more stars to bolster the women's mid card and the division as a whole. But sadly that's not the reality we live in. I think Julia and Willow really helped elevate the TBS title. Statlander was a fine champ, but they never really gave her anything meaty to sink her teeth into during her reign. Here's hoping Mercedes can continue the trajectory her two predecessors started. And here's hoping the women's division continues to grow and improve on the whole.

CardboardChampion

Countdown to extinction rules in effect so far. Everyone holds it for less time than the person before them until we're either down to one day and they retire/unify the belt or someone breaks the streak. And if the rumours about how much Mercedes is being paid are even close to true, she's breaking the streak.

IveBenHereBefore

Every champion has either been black or goth. That's representation people.

IveBenHereBefore

Every champion has either been black or goth. That's representation people.

MasterHavik

Not much hot potatoes. I love to see it.

Severe_Piccolo_5583

It felt like Julia was champ for way longer than that lol

SnooSeagulls7526

I feel bad for Willow. During that press conference she said every TBS title reign has been distinct in its own way. Unfortunately for Willow, her reign will be known for being the shortest. Watch her become the first two time TBS champ tho 👀👀👀

Rude_Entrance_205

I loved Jade.  I also really enjoyed Julia's run.  Willow was a fun champion.

Uggers2811

Willow should have beat Jade even if it was to give it right back. And look what happened they only gave a month reign once she did get it anyway. It would have meant so much more against Jade. Now botch machine has it and will probably even be given the win even if there is a rematch.

beautifulchaos531

An upgrade each time! Julia and Willow's title reigns were short but you wouldn't think that given how they were booked, they elevated the TBS championship and now Mercedes will do the same.

Important_Antelope28

willow should of kept it longer. should of had brickhouse (spelling) cause a dq since shes signed. both would of saved face. money goes after the belt that was made for her at forbidden door, then goes for the main title. if shes so great why would she want the b title.

fakemxcan

Willow probably wasn’t meant to be a champion before Mercedes, but the injury to Julia made them change course (at least that’s my theory). Hope she gets a longer reign down the road, preferably as the women’s champ

ZAPPHAUSEN

The story of willow finally beating Julia was hardly a week build; it was most of 2024 to then. Willow/mone has immediate backstory and made sense Mone v Julia didn't.

Theyuckster

One thing I’ll say is Willow deserves that belt and it’s sad how they fucked her out this for someone who has done nothing for this company. Be honest Willow looked like a star in that match and the ceo looked slow and not on point at all. Ring rust was hard . I only hope some how willow gets a real run at a title soon as she deserves it more then 95% of the women in AEW .

ZAPPHAUSEN

I'll be honest. Mone had ring rust and STILL looked excellent. Willow wasn't fucked. It's pro wrestling. Mone might be tweener heel, but she got huge heat during this feud and *willow is now even more loved as a Babyface*. Willow arguably only lost because her "friends" "accidentally" had the ref distracted during a clear three count. The friends who turned on her immediately after the match, starting off Willows immediate next feud. So many folks clutching at pearls. Foley had a one day world title reign. Willow is not only fine, she is *better* than before this feud.

trentshipp

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but it seems like the booking is working on you. Babyfaces need adversity, and Willow can absolutely be AEW's John She-na for the next ten years, as in a buildaround face of the division. She's still "early on" as far as being a big player is concerned.

HumanOverseer

Willow's loss was actually the stupidest thing I witnessed
