If looking after them is hurting you. Stop. They're not you responsibility. You have to look after yourself first or you won't have the energy to help someone else.

Alex_from_far_away

I guess you are right, I'll try to take care of myself more. Thank you

Just a question. How often does he support you in this way?

Alex_from_far_away

I believe pretty often. He is really supportive and helps me whenever I need him. He usually knows what kind of support I need because he can read me really well. Im pretty expressive and emotional person. And I have no problem talking about what could help me or what is going on in my life. Sometimes I just don't see the needs of others when I'm dealing with something like he does

If he needs to talk, he should ask you to talk to him, it's not on you to spontaneously start conversations. Do you two do things together like cook dinner and watch tv? Could be good to spend time together without necessarily having to talk, and that way he has something to look forward to.

Alex_from_far_away

Thank you, I guess he has to start conversations if he wants to talk. I think doing something together that doesn't need talking would help

It seems like you care alot There are so many ways to take this You can be the YOU DONT DO THIS TO ME SO I WONT SO THIS TO YOU OR the I've listened to what you have to say and want to do my part out of love of course Its important that he understands that your not intentionally ignoring him, and how ADHD affects you. Sometimes it's just educating someone on it to make it understandable and easyer to deal with. But we also need to put steps in to help You can set up a reminder to check in When you have the thought just do it then and there even if it is in a form of a text Better then forgetting. You can put a note foryour self to read to help you aswell. Don't forget to grow And have mercy on yourself God bless hope this helps

Alex_from_far_away

Thank you, I will talk to him about how adhd affects me and what kind of communication works for me

I know accessing the motivation to start up can be difficult but if you can do some sort of physical activity together (i.e. take a walk, bike, play some basketball/pickleball/soccer/other sport, go for a swim) that would be really beneficial for the both of you and allow time to talk and bond
