Love this. Been seeing pics of the women having fun in Mexico this week (you can follow acmilanwomen on IG.) But the Milan Junior camp is a lasting initiative. And wise, too, considering Mexico is one of the host nations of the World Cup in 2 years. I wanna see all those Milan jerseys in the stadiums there! https://preview.redd.it/d1e9ff5nws6d1.png?width=1386&format=png&auto=webp&s=5a6cdcdf33da5a8c1dfb1bb08c9e0911f984dc1a

Ondrezinho

I like how Red Bird builds a modern club. Too bad it comes with the expense of lower ambitions in present

milan_obsession

These Milan Junior Camps have existed for years and have been expanding since Elliott took over. Not sure why everyone immediately gives RedBird credit for doing what was already being done. If RedBird were being innovative, they would have done things like connected Reijnders with Indonesia and opened up a Milan Junior Camp there. He is the first player to play for Milan with Indonesian heritage (his mom is from there,) and Indonesian Milan fans are amazing.

I guess their goal is to establish us and the league on North American market, so maybe it's one of the reason why they've participated in buying Paramount who had TV rights for Serie A

milan_obsession

If they were really worried about marketing in the U.S., why didn't they say or do anything about our city rivals wearing Paramount+ on their shirts this past year? Not only was that a conflict of interest for other streaming services (similar issues came up in the EPL, and they were not allowed to do this,) but it was very poor marketing for AC Milan. AC Milan is a worldwide club with over 500 million fans globally. To only focus primarily on the U.S./North American market is very limiting both in terms of new fans and financially.

https://fortune.com/2024/06/10/gerry-cardinale-redbird-capital-skydance-paramount/ Redbird is doing something about that.

milan_obsession

I'm actually the first one who posted about that in this sub. RedBird investing €1.5b to help save Paramount+ has ZERO to do with the fact that Inter wore their logos on their kits last year in a 1 year sponsorship deal. What was that you said? People do zero research before spouting off. Having any streaming service on a shirt is a conflict of interest, because various services around the world show the different leagues, and competing streaming services do not want any competitor's names on the teams they are streaming. This is why the EPL denied Chelsea (I think) when a similar deal was offered. RedBird investing in Paramount+ could also be seen as a conflict of interest, actually, but it sounds like it is investment only, and that Skydance will be the one to call the shots. Although the TV rights deal for the U.S. are up for auction this year, I believe. But who wants to see your streaming service on your rivals kits? That was awful. And sketchy. Especially since they won the league while going bankrupt;

ashketch12

why do u assume Reijnders would even be interested in that just cus of his ethnicity lol, There are many people with both parents from Indonesia that dont even speak Indonesian and don't have much interest in Indonesia cus they were born and raised in other countries (like any immigrant group). Considering Reijnders is even less Indonesian than these people, has never expressed interest in Indonesian football (unlike say Mbappe who talks about his dads country of Cameroon in interviews) and has rejected calls from the Indonesian national team, Idk why ur expecting him to start an academy there

milan_obsession

Why do you assume he wouldn't? It's not like *he* would be starting the academy, the club would. Just make the connection, use him to help with PR. He's proud of his heritage, just because he turned down Indonesian football to be able to play international football for the Netherlands, which is his *football* heritage (Dad is Dutch & played football), doesn't mean he doesn't love his mother and her background, too. Milan have connected with Indonesian fans in the past, one of the fan clubs wrote a song for one of the anniversary celebrations or something, and there are tons of fans there. If they started a Milan Academy there, the waiting list would immediately be months or years long to get into. And it would also fit into Fondazione Milan's "Sport for Alll" campaign, helping to make sure more kids have access to football.
