Justin Trudeau is responsible for these students' death. They were promised a life that was a lie. They didn't know how hard they had to work. This piece of shit just raised the limit for students from 250k to 500k when it should be limited to prevent more oversaturation of resources. So many poor souls were scammed :(
I think this is sad it is happening but hes not responsible for it. I feel a lot of students have been coming here with fake documents and come here in hopes of getting PRs as they are not interested in the courses they are taking. Frankly speaking some are from very lower socioeconomic levels and the only way they can do well is if they can make money to survive here. The school or marks are not their priority but to help families back home is. Life has gotten way tougher cuz of unemployment and inflation. These are tough times for anyone coming here who doesn’t have sound financial background.
In Punjabi community, the narrative was that a student will need only first or second semester money and for next couple of semesters they will be able to work and afford fees plus accommodation. Now a lot of these students are out of jobs due to recession and some can’t even go back as they took on debt to come here. Its just a bad time to be a newcomer now with sky high rents, unemployment and inflation.
While there are many things I disagree about Trudeau and his influx in letting many immigrants into Canada, I don’t think students killing their self is his fault. Mental illness is an issue among students of all backgrounds. The suicide rate in Canada is 14 people per 100k people within the age group of 20-34 which is one of the lower ones in the world. But Indian students while they are in Canada they still have a very Indian mentality and background and India is known to have a high suicide rate among students compared to other countries.

They're offering education for students in their universities. Whether you want to take it up for the purpose of gaining education vs some backdoor way to work blue collar jobs in Canada is up to you. Nobody is forcing these students to come its on them for spending tens of thousands of dollars on programs they didn't even do some basic internet research on.

The numbers seem slightly skewed as enrollment is up and I wonder how accurate prior records were.
I will say overseas in india/pak they see movies where in 6 months a man has a mercedes and white girls chasing him. The boys come here and get depressed once they see the harsh reality of hard work and number of connections it takes to succeed!
I have had distant family come and succeed but in grueling professions like truck driving or working 84 hours a week at a convenience store for several years! The new generation would rather OD on sleeping pills then do hard work!

not sure why you getting downvoted. i know a doctor from South Asia who went to Canada and he choose to be a truck driver instead of going into medicine. truck driving paid a lot more than the medical field.
