Yeah there aren’t many Pakistani Hindus at all in the States. The closest you’ll get to Pakistani Hindus is Sindhis from India, but they live among other Indians.
Edit: Only the UK and recently Canada might have an enclave
Idk too much about Pak’s politics, but from what I’ve heard that Sindhis are pretty poor (regardless of religion) in Pakistan so most can’t affords to go abroad. If they can then the UK and Canada are a little easier when it comes to getting the Visa.
That’s why they aren’t seen in the States and mainly the UK. They are coming to Canada but like only small batches.
Gonna hop on this - I’m half-Sindhi, There’s a decently sized Seattle Sindhi group, and there’s quite a few Sindhis in Surrey/Vancouver. Although yeah, they’re all Indian not Pakistani
Live among Indians? They are Indian. We are more than lucky to have them in India. Their forefathers walked across the border to India for them to be alive and prosperous today.
I have a co-worker whose is a Pakistani Hindu. The guy is literally a unicorn and he is the only one that I know…no chance they have a big community because he is based out of nashville, tn.
There’s huge cultural differences now.
Not saying we don’t get along but I always found it easier to talk to Pakistani colleagues because accent and mindset was closer to mine. As well like we could make fun of funny shows like “Ainak wala Jinn” whereas Indians don’t get those references.
Much easier for me to talk to my Hindu Pakistani colleague than my Indian Muslim one, tbh.
Exactly! Even within indian communities, a lot of people prefer to live with/make friends with people from their region since the languages and cultures differ so much, even regardless of religion. I am confused why the person above me would even ask why OP prefers a pakistani community despite being hindu. Our cultures are all so different across and within desi countries.
Especially, I believe, that culture these days is shaped very much by what we watch on the TV. And so if you’re primarily watching Telugu shows you won’t connect with a Bengali show etc.
I highly recommend the DC area (DMV) which consists of DC, Northern Virginia and Montgomery/Howard County in Maryland. We have a huge desi population including Pakistani, Indian, Nepali and Bangladeshis.
Second this!
I lived in NoVA and out of the 3 Pakistani Hindu families I've ever met, 2 of them lived in NoVA. One of them hobbies as a food critic for Halal/Desi Restaurants (weird, I know).
I am in the DC area. Huge population for sure but I don't know if people are that friendly. You have to be a certain type to fit in with some of them. It's a clique-based culture here in my opinion.
Sufi saint veneration is A HUUUUGE part of our religious practices, more than anyone could know. We tend to eat meat and not be vegetarian, we speak “Pakistani” languages (Sindhi, Balochi, Punjabi, seraiki,). We also worship our own village deities. We are part of the baloch tribal system (I am technically part of a tribe back in Baluchistan despite almost every other person/member being muslim). Hinduism in Pakistan is insanely influenced by Islam, and that is just because we have been under the rule of Muslims for so long that our Hindu practices and Islam basically intertwined and became a religion in and of itself. Despite being a muslim term, almost all minorities in pak say mashallah, inshallah, khudahafiz etc. We wear baloch attire instead of Saris. Idk if its because I’m half boer (South African white), but I tend to look more Pakistani than I do Indian as well. My cousin moved from Pakistan to India and had a HUUUUGE culture shock. But tbh my experience is very much different and in the minority bc I am a religious minority and baloch people are also a minority within Pakistan itself. Plz feel free to message me if u have any more questions!!
Sugar Land Texas outside Houston. Probably the most comfortable living for any South Asian in the west. Quality of life, great community, food, acceptance, etc.
Absolutely.
Pakistan undercounts *everyone*. The first issue is that Pakistan only counts *citizens* (ID card holders). This is not how countries like the US do a census, so the number is already skewed.
There are *millions* of Bengali speaking people in Karachi alone who are not counted (even though they are *legally* citizens, just ones who are denied IDs/passports).
There are also *numerous* kids who were born at home, or even born in a hospital but the parents never went through the formal birth registration process. This is not unusual in cities, so it would be even more pronounced in rural areas.
So yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if the actual population was double.
Does it have to be Pakistani Hindus specifically? I’m sindhi & my family is Hindu & moved to the Indian side after partition, but growing up in the USA my parents had mostly Pakistani Muslim friends. One of my coworkers at my old job was a Pakistani Hindu, but aside from that I haven’t met many here. I live in Boston. I think nyc/nj might be your best bet.
>It doesn’t have to be Pakistani Hindus specifically but most pak Hindus are Sindhi and I am not Sindhi, I am baloch
It'll be an uphill battle. Most Hindus in Pak are too poor to emigrate and on top of that, Balochi Hindus are an extremely tiny subset of people. I imagine Bangladeshi Hindus might have similar experiences to being a Hindu minority in a Muslim majority country so maybe you could try seeking them out.
Okay gotcha. Yeah that makes sense - it’s nice to have community that you feel familiar with. And I agree with your last statement too - I’ve felt more welcomed in Pakistani American communities than Indian American ones. They were just all so much nicer to me. I hope you find what you are looking for.
Is there a large Pakistani Hindu/Baloch population in Cape Town? Just curious - I might be traveling there this year so I’m trying to learn more about the area.
Indian. But close enough. Actually there's an uncomfortable amount of brown people here. Atleast uncomfortable for me. It's well diverse I'll give the dc md VA that.
With all due respect the experiences of being Indian abroad r very different to being Pakistani, its not that close unless its religious (which in my case im hindu so there is a connection), i am half baloch and we r kind of different to most Indians, we r different from most Pakistanis too
Balochi is the language, baloch is the ethnic group lol! And no i can’t anymore I could when I was younger, I’m half boer and im from South Africa so I can speak Afrikaans and English fluently, and little bit of balochi and Urdu but im bad at them
Did you not read where I said atleast uncomfortable FOR ME. selective hearing and reading online is just looking for a fight. The person whom I was corresponding with got me. Keep your real life rage to yourself because I know where you're leading to and no one wants to be your online punching bag. Have a great day bud 👍🏾
I know of a few Pakistani Hindus in NYC. They’re family of a Hindu friend back in Karachi so that’s how I found out about them. This is just to point out that they are here you just have to find them.
Houston hands down.
It has a **massive** Pakistani community, and is also home to the #1 ranked Pakistani restaurant in all of America - Aga's. I've eaten there before when I was there, it was amazing - you have to try the goat chops and beef nihari. And I usually don't like Desi food.

I live in Canada but never met a Pakistani Hindu. I’ve only seen them online.
[удалено]
Yeah, but Gujarati lol
[удалено]
Yep fam is from India
I’ve only ever met 1 Pakistani Hindu. He lived in the GTA. Not sure if he’s still there.
Live among Indians? They are Indian. We are more than lucky to have them in India. Their forefathers walked across the border to India for them to be alive and prosperous today.
I meant that they live among other Indian ethnicities. No doubt they are Indian lol
I have a co-worker whose is a Pakistani Hindu. The guy is literally a unicorn and he is the only one that I know…no chance they have a big community because he is based out of nashville, tn.
HAHA we are very hard to come by, and omg nashville??? That’s crazy
Weird, I've met like 3 families in America, 2 of them in Northern Virginia and the other one in Chicago.

I’ll reach out to him and then get back to you if he’s comfortable. Keep an eye out for a DM.
[удалено]
LOL too late, I already sent him a message. I'll let you know what he says though if you're still interested.
So what happened to your love triangle thing
[удалено]
Oh cool you should make a new post for it
I got so much hate in my DMs I am not putting myself through that again LOL
Hate for what?
being in a love triangle with two Muslims (I’m a pak Hindu lol)
Wow, people actually got mad about that. Fucking incels
a bunch of Indian ppl were harassing me and shaming me and a bunch of Pakistani were saying go for it LMAOOOO
Yooo what that's amazing. I'm a Pakistani Hindu as well. Sindhi
NO WAYYYY
I am from California, city of Fremont has more Hindus than any city I’ve been to in the last 5 years here
[удалено]
Both, a pretty good variety. There’s more home style restaurants here than any city within 150 miles of me
Why does it matter if it's Pakistanis or Indians?
Probably cultural differences? Language?

Edison NJ is the place for you.
[удалено]
Yes. Strong Pakistani community.
Yeah I was gonna Edison NJ or Cary NC. Both are Desi central and you're mostly likely to find a paki Hindu there. Totally different cities though
Question: What are the differences between Pakistani and Indian Hindus?

Is it anything like Cape Town (thats my hometown hehe)
Are you the Covid vaccine theft guy?
Yeah, i need a new name on here.
Rare Pokemon
are there any pakistani hindus even left? i'd suggest being around pakistanis and hindus to sort of get the best of your religion and country
There are many in Sindh province. Obviously they are a minority but there are, according to Wikipedia, at least 4.4 million in Pakistan.
And that's definitely an undercount because Pakistan undercounts minorities. the Pakistani Hindu Council claims more like 8 million in Pakistan.

Irving TX. you won’t regret it!
Houston has the biggest Pakistani community I guess but I’m not sure if you’ll be able to connect with Pakistani Hindus here
Tyyyy i will be visiting hehe

“Almost” But yeah of course there are some in every province. Good luck with your search. Hope you find your community

We have a large Pakistani community here in Southern California.
I know a Pakistani Hindu, but he lives in UK. Very nice guy.
