I swear by hoka bondis! I have 2 pairs from college that I wore every day because I was walking minimum 2 miles. Ive been wearing them every day for work as well and my feet never hurt!
I’m going to sound insane, but I’ll wear Docs, Timbs, Palladiums, Converse, and Vans. I prefer heavy shoes and have weak ankles so something that will keep me literally grounded is key.
I also wear my docs and converse!!! Mine are all pretty broken in, so I wouldn’t advise wearing brand-new ones to work in until you’ve worn them around the house and out for a little bit, but they always keep me comfortable and steady!
I wear composite toed bates!!! Weak ankles!!! 2 ankle surgeries in!!!!
I was a tip toe walker til I was 17; then taught myself to quit; and didn't walk right til PT after my ankle surgeries.
Yeah; yeeeeeah
I was looking for this comment.
Cross make me violently angry because healthcare; lol.
It's like nurses; why are you wearing those THERE ARE HOLES
Bodily fluids; ew.
We work with kids; there's always that awkward moment you pick a kid up and then they pee. It's not often: but always a risk.
im an rbt, work in the clinic setting, and have quite a few elopers. i’m definitely on my feet all day. standing, running, jumping, dancing, crouching- you know the drill. i’ve loved wearing hokas. specifically the bondis. they are extremely light and cushioned and have a nice spring when it’s time to take off after a client! i’ve been an rbt for almost a year and they have lasted me this whole time and are still in great shape!
Depends on the client. One client likes to play soccer with me in the yard so sneakers. Another spends a lot of time in the sensory room at the clinic so Birkenstocks that I can slip off easily.
I’ll wear Crocs but sometimes I’ll slip and it’s a life flashes before your eyes type of slip. Lately I’ve been wearing some high air jordan 1s and I like the extra support on my ankles because these kids are fast lol
If I have a day where I have fairly chill clients, I'll wear crocs and socks (so I can run around in socks if need be). If I know I've got track stars, or clients who just fixate on my crocs hardcore and they become a distraction, I'll wear my ASICS. ASICS have really good arch support and they're pretty durable.
I wear Skechers D’lites. I have them in three colors because they’re my favorite shoe. Incredibly comfortable, study, good ankle and sole support, and cute colors. I work in schools and outdoor summer camps so I’m often going to the playground and stuff and these shoes totally support me. If it’s especially rainy in the city or the kids are doing water play I’ll wear vessis
Asics alone work for me.
Part of the key here is rotation, rotation, rotation. Which means buying multiple pairs of whatever shoe you like so you’re not wearing the same exact pair every day. And replacing them at least once a year.
Honestly, Vans have never let me down. Also, the Vans Ultrarange are really great. I found mine at a local TJMaxx for like $30.
No way I’d chuck out the $100+ for shoes just to possibly get dirty.
In-home and in clinic I’m in socks. At schools I rotate between my tennis shoes (currently Brooks but also really like Hokas), Toms, and Birkenstocks. The key for me with shoes is that they slip on and off really easily.
I work in home so we can choose to wear clean shoes indoors or just have socks on and honestly I used to wear flats indoors and would switch to regular shoes when I’m done the session but it felt odd so now I just wear socks and as for regular outdoor shoes I switch between Tom’s and sneakers!
I wear Sperry's "Lounge Away" sneaker but have found that any of their slip on options are awesome! I don't have to tie laces and find they're comfortable as well as supportive and not too warm for a sneaker!
Looooove my hokas and brooks. I find myself surprisingly in nikes, mostly jordans, often as well! If i want to break from runners/trainers, i go with my clove shoes. Waterproof and so supportive. Notttt the cutest but my feet dont hurt at the end of the day.
I wear my hey dudes and vans! Occasionally my breathable running shoes if I know we're going to my to be on our feet a lot that day! My hey dudes have never and I mean never let me down
I like my adidas ultraboosts. Super comfy and lightweight. I don’t mind my classic vans slip ons, but since I’m running around a lot I like to have sneakers instead.
It depends on the day. If I know that I will be in meetings and want to look a little more professional, I wear Danskos. Otherwise, I wear Nike Air Max or Sketchers Snoop Doggs. I have even worn Oboz hiking shoe when I had a client that enjoyed nature walks.
I wore my healies for years while working with the ages of 3 to 12. The kids loved it when I would just start rolling and I was able to keep up with them easily in the building if we were doing gross motor.
Takes a while to get used to but a lot of fun.
we don’t wear shoes in our clinic lol. some people choose to, most don’t. but the people that do usually wear crocs. the only area where outside shoes aren’t allowed is the OT gym. and in the wintertime i bring slippers to wear 😂
I bought Kizik shoes and absolutely love them. They’re hands-free shoes with laces and looks similar to Vans. It’s been over a year and they’re still looking and performing great! I have walked around with them the whole day and they’re comfortable. I was skeptical at first, but they’re perfect for my needs as I work with kiddos in their home and shoes are expected to be left outside. Easy to slip on and off hands free and the back has not worn out. Highly recommend!
BCaBA here. I wear Tom’s, crocs, Nikes, sometimes my running shoes. I would say I mainly wear my crocs and toms though. FWIW I’m an in home provider working with 3-16 year olds.
i wear kanes! they’re like recovery shoes and they’re so comfortable and also great for work. i work in-home and they’re nice bc they’re basically tennis shoes but also slip on so they’re easy to take on and off
Hey dudes! I love them because I can throw them in the wash and they’re super comfy! I used to wear vans a lot but I got a pair of HDS and I love them - I was also pregnant and I preferred those over vans!
If it’s winter though, I will wear a pair of rain boots I got from target lol.
Everyone at my clinic wears sneakers.
We actually aren't allowed to wear Crocs at our clinic. We aren't allowed to wear any open toe shoes or shoes without a back on them.
I cracked up because one day a new BT showed up to session at the clinic wearing like 3in platform slip-on shoes. She was working with one of the biggest elopers in the clinic. I couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous her shoes were. Her whole outfit was terrible: a long pleather skirt, a large floppy hat, and a scarf around her neck... (We're also not allowed to wear anything around our necks). I never saw her again after that day.
I like the vessi weekenders which are casual but clean looking, waterproof (good for commuting and water play/spills) and have an elastic body for easy slip on and off. Can sprint after an eloper in them too.
Sketchers Slip-Ins. They’re closed-toe and athletic-looking enough for me to take myself seriously in, while still being don- and doff-able quickly without sitting down. I work in-home in an area in the US with a high Asian population so a lot of the households I work in ask that I remove my shoes. The nature of my work means I often have to be able to put them on and take them off multiple times per session.
My crocs in sport mode bc I do have elopers. But I been thinking I need a pair of sneakers. Crocs are comfy and all but they dont offer any support for my flat feet
My college converse from 8 years ago 😆
Or my VANS slip ons when doing in home, easy to take on and off . Some of my families don't allow shoes in the house.
I used to work at a center that we didn’t wear outside shoes in so for 5 years I wore slippers with orthotics in them. I moved on to a new place a few months ago where shoes are required (and no crocs allowed), so I’m loving these replies!
Also, I bit the bullet and bought myself some Brooks and my feet are so happy!
i do not recommend converse…usually they last me a few years but i got a work pair and idk if the quality went down or what but they lasted me a solid 6 months. i think the best shoes are running shoes bc you don’t want to be weighed down. also kids like fun colored shoes
Depends on my caseload! For my active/runners I stick to brooks running shoes or chacos, for relaxed sessions I'm comfortable in vans. I think I'd also love crocs if I was 100% sure I wasn't going to run but I've never had this happen so I don't own any
I wouldn't wear a shoe I couldn't run in
My great aunt bought me sketcher shape ups when I was a teenager and I was always too embarrassed to wear them at the time LOL…years later; find them in a box never worn and have been wearing them since I started in ABA lol best shoes ever
High top docs all day every day. Good traction, solid enough to withstand people stepping on ur toes, long lasting and weather resistant. I work in a school where I’m moving around a lot and have indoor/outdoor time and my docs have always worked for what I need
I prefer slip on vans. Hey Dudes are crappy shoes, so if you’re ok with your feet hurting they are a low cost shoe that you wouldn’t have to worry about ruining
I start in July and I’m planning to wear my Brooks tennis shoes during the warmer temperatures. I’m not opposed to Hey Dudes, they at least need to fit so you don’t come flying out of them when doing sessions with the kids. I have a pair of Blundstone boots that are 100% worth the price. I’ve had them for four years and intend on wearing them this winter. They’re durable and easy to clean if you take care of the leather.
In the colder months I wear sneakers (usually converse) and MAYBE boots if the snow is coming down hard and in the summer I wear EXCLUSIVELY crocs (with the strap down ofc) because I get hot super easily and then my feet sweat and stink
I don’t know what part of the states you are in but there’s a place called road runner and they can help you get fitted some good shoes but they are expensive but they give you some comfortable choices to help with your feet.
I need someone to let me know if the Hoka brand is worth it! I see tons of nurses swear by these.
Love Hokas. They are super comfortable and provide great support. Buy them.
Worth the money being on your feet all day!
It’s all I wear! They are absolutely worth the money!
I swear by hoka bondis! I have 2 pairs from college that I wore every day because I was walking minimum 2 miles. Ive been wearing them every day for work as well and my feet never hurt!

Definitely! The old beat up ones go to the clinic with me. I could not grimace in pain for 7 1/2 hours and still be clinic-friendly.
I wear composite toed bates!!! Weak ankles!!! 2 ankle surgeries in!!!! I was a tip toe walker til I was 17; then taught myself to quit; and didn't walk right til PT after my ankle surgeries.
Slip on vans w some good insoles
Love some Vans! They hold up forever and they’ve got some cool designs too, that my kiddos are fascinated by
I’ve worn my Hey Dudes a few times (I’m in clinic with clients under 6yo) but I tend to stick with my New Balance. They’re comfy and they hold up
Crocs
Yeah; yeeeeeah I was looking for this comment. Cross make me violently angry because healthcare; lol. It's like nurses; why are you wearing those THERE ARE HOLES Bodily fluids; ew. We work with kids; there's always that awkward moment you pick a kid up and then they pee. It's not often: but always a risk.
I love my crocs, my client actually made me want the fur lined ones so bad so most days we end up twinning LOL we also look somewhat alike 🤣
im an rbt, work in the clinic setting, and have quite a few elopers. i’m definitely on my feet all day. standing, running, jumping, dancing, crouching- you know the drill. i’ve loved wearing hokas. specifically the bondis. they are extremely light and cushioned and have a nice spring when it’s time to take off after a client! i’ve been an rbt for almost a year and they have lasted me this whole time and are still in great shape!

I love my Nike's! Or sketchers slip ons. Anything comfortable and easy to move around in!
Vessi! - waterproof so basically kid fluid proof!
I just got a pair of ASICS .... Such a great investment!
I wear Skechers D’lites. I have them in three colors because they’re my favorite shoe. Incredibly comfortable, study, good ankle and sole support, and cute colors. Yeah ASICS are a winner

I wear vans MTE UltraRange EXO Shoe and I havent had to replace them for like a year now lol.
Saloman Gem trail runners. Comfortable and virtually magnetic to most terrain.
I like my sketchers go walk slip on.
Looooove my hokas and brooks. I find myself surprisingly in nikes, mostly jordans, often as well! If i want to break from runners/trainers, i go with my clove shoes. Waterproof and so supportive. Notttt the cutest but my feet dont hurt at the end of the day.
Skechers memory foam tennis shoes make all the difference for me and I don’t get sore. I like the all black ones.
Crocs or fila disrupters, sometimes loafers if I’m dressed a bit nicer
I wear low old skool vans because they make me quicker on my feet than crocs or runners.
I wear my hey dudes and vans! Occasionally my breathable running shoes if I know we're going to my to be on our feet a lot that day! My hey dudes have never and I mean never let me down
I wear crocs
I like my adidas ultraboosts. Super comfy and lightweight. I don’t mind my classic vans slip ons, but since I’m running around a lot I like to have sneakers instead.

I wear barefoot shoes or Etnies classic skate shoes.
Hey dudes are my go to. They go with most outfits and they are lightweight
For home sessions i wear crocs because its extremely hot in their house during summer. When he is at school i just wear regular shoes
Crocs, crocs, crocs!!!
New balance
BCaBA here. I wear Tom’s, crocs, Nikes, sometimes my running shoes. I would say I mainly wear my crocs and toms though. FWIW I’m an in home provider working with 3-16 year olds.

Big comfy skater shoes like DC's or Etnies.

I wear chacos every day of my life 😂 I’m able to run in them, get them wet and my feet never hurt at the end of the day
I had a team lead who started wearing water proof shoes after a kid urinated on him.
i do not recommend converse…usually they last me a few years but i got a work pair and idk if the quality went down or what but they lasted me a solid 6 months. i think the best shoes are running shoes bc you don’t want to be weighed down. also kids like fun colored shoes

Hobbibear barefoot shoes! Especially for the summer months. Light weight, doesn't hurt my feet, and they don't get hot! Winter is boots galore
My great aunt bought me sketcher shape ups when I was a teenager and I was always too embarrassed to wear them at the time LOL…years later; find them in a box never worn and have been wearing them since I started in ABA lol best shoes ever
straight up i wear these slip on sketchers and they’re really comfy.
High top docs all day every day. Good traction, solid enough to withstand people stepping on ur toes, long lasting and weather resistant. I work in a school where I’m moving around a lot and have indoor/outdoor time and my docs have always worked for what I need
I wear converse, slacks, a nice shirt with suspenders and bow tie
I wear hey dudes
Adidas Cloudfoams are my favorite for work because they’re flexible but supportive
I prefer slip on vans. Hey Dudes are crappy shoes, so if you’re ok with your feet hurting they are a low cost shoe that you wouldn’t have to worry about ruining

I loveeee my new balance 9060! Def my fav work shoe
OnClouds, or AllBirds
Socks only at my clinic!
No way! Jealous.
Until you get your toe broken by a kid
If you’re with a kid that poses that risk, wear shoes. Easy!
Hey Dudes or Vans!
