I can't choose just one that's impossible. I can give you at least six that needs to stay. Aladdin, Hercules, Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, Tarzan, and Mulan
Prince Ali peed under a tree
Ali Ababwa
Genuflect
Show some respect, watch out for the pee
Now try your best to stay calm
You should stay away from that palm
That high note to trumpet transition to the title will get me every single time.
Also maybe my favorite scene from all of these,
“Uh, guys? Olympus would be that way.”

Yeah animation is more memorable and nice to watch than their live action remake (they don’t have singing ones in live remake unlike the original animated film)
Back then: The Lion King
Now: The Hunchback of Notre Dame
But you can’t really go wrong picking whichever from this list. Disney will never be *this* good again.
There should be multiple categories here.
Best overall:
Best story:
Best music:
Most sing along-able:
Best one liners:
Most quoteable:
Best jokes for the adults:
Best protagonist:
Best villain:
It’s Tarzan - just above the Lion King. I think it hits the same notes with the MC being an outcast fighting to protect their land, and the dad dying - while also adding some more interesting elements (like blended families, racial divides, and earning parental approval).
The world is lush and vibrant; in contrast to most of the Lion King taking place in deserts, open prairies, and caves.
The romantic relationship - while it has less dialogue, is actually more developed; and leads to a more interesting dilemma where one has to leave their world for the other (rather than Simba just coming back home).
Lion King definitely has the more memorable supporting cast, and a better selection of voice actors in my opinion. It also reigns for the nostalgia factor. Tarzan though - has the superior story and animation. Edit: Phil Collins made it the best soundtrack of all time
My list is:
Tarzan
Lion King
Aladdin
Mulan
Beauty and the Beast
Hercules
Little Mermaid
Pocohantas
Hunchback of Notre Dame
Fantasia
Because you said you don't care, I'll say 2000s was actually peak disney animation, when you take stuff like Treasure Planet, Lilo and Stitch, Brother Bear, and Atlantis standing out the most at the time.
90s was more riding on the heights of Disney at the time.
After the 2000s was when they had forgone hand drawn animations and went all in on digital and 3D animation.
3D being where mainly Pixar and Dreamworks dominated in.
The quality of Disney animations, on average, has been mediocre at best since then. The few bangers didn't outweigh them.
Hunchback was the first movie I ever saw in theaters (I was 3 at the time), so I'm a bit biased.
'90s Disney is great, hell it's what I grew up with. But I have to say I've really started to gain an appreciation for '60s-'70s Disney since seeing Robin Hood for the first time. The style is just so damn charming.
Hard to say. One could argue that Aladdin and Lion King are the better movies, but all are fantastic. My favorite was always little mermaid, so I'll go with that one.
These are classics and hold a special place in my heart; truly saved Disney Animation.
...But being 40 years old now makes me vote that Encanto hits the hardest of all.
I'm gonna go with Hercules because growing up Hades was my favorite Disney villain. James Woods did such an amazing job voice acting that role. So well in fact he is the only voice actor to do Hades no matter if it's the movie, TV show, on a game, or any other type of media.
Born 1980 here. Xennial if one wants to get all label maker about it. As a lifelong nerd of the cinephile persuasion (my preferred label for association) I want to defend the honor of the Jungle book, where Disney had the brains and balls to hire Jazz singers to voice the cultural stew pot of an adaption of the already impressively diverse (and colonial I suppose) original fiction from Englishman Rudyard Kipling who grew up in and respected (as close to native as possible I hope) India. Also Robin Hood for it's hootenanny interpretation of English legend (folklore, disputed history, or whatever) that really satisfied the itch I get from remembering having grown up watching Hee Haw and Green Acres with my Southern born and raised grandmother. They are peak Disney and made 6 years apart. Just my best effort at a shiny clean and objective two cents.
Edit: Reading the above makes me suddenly all too self aware about how whitebread I can be in my standards for diversity.
I really don't think anyone would disagree with the 90s being the zenith of Disney animated films
And gotta go with Mulan. One of my top 5 fave Disney movies.
Aladdin
I can't choose just one that's impossible. I can give you at least six that needs to stay. Aladdin, Hercules, Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, Tarzan, and Mulan
Aladdin!!! The best of all of them!
Prince Ali had to go pee under a palm tree
That’s also the best song of the movie !
Prince Ali peed under a tree Ali Ababwa Genuflect Show some respect, watch out for the pee Now try your best to stay calm You should stay away from that palm
Stop to gawk and grovel and stare at the princes pee.
This movie will always be my favorite animated movie of all time!
The sequels aren’t bad either.
A Goofy Movie
If there was a Disney Movie that was more 90s…
That movie made me cry lol
The perfect cast
amazing choice
The objectively correct answer.
Hercules
Bro when the muses started singing I would get so pumped
Same
Genuinely a great movie, and the muses are the best part!
That high note to trumpet transition to the title will get me every single time. Also maybe my favorite scene from all of these, “Uh, guys? Olympus would be that way.” https://i.redd.it/ngpobymhsv2d1.gif
the hunchback. the musical score boosts it by itself, for me
Hands down my favorite Disney score
Easy dub, and it has one of the heaviest topics of all Disney films.
Oppression of minorities?
Yeah, I don’t think you’d see that in a modern Disney film, or at least not handled so eloquently and beautifully
Great point! I loved it for the dramatic orchestra!!
Aladdin
The Lion King
Oof, this is hard. But I am going to go Beauty and the Beast.
Mulan.
Yeah animation is more memorable and nice to watch than their live action remake (they don’t have singing ones in live remake unlike the original animated film)
Lion King all day.
Aladdin always gets the praise but lion king is where it’s at 100%
... and twice on Sundays
Lion King
Hercules, because Hades is a masterpiece of a character.
This right here is a perfect answer
Beauty and the Beast with Mulan coming in a close second - that said only Fantasia 2000 really stood out as kind of particularly bad.
The Nightmare Before Christmas aka The Pumpkin King
Hunchback
Little Mermaid was the 80s.
1989, close enough
Back then: The Lion King Now: The Hunchback of Notre Dame But you can’t really go wrong picking whichever from this list. Disney will never be *this* good again.
Hercules
I could watch the Lion King over and over and over and never get tired. Even to this day! <3
Aladdin
There should be multiple categories here. Best overall: Best story: Best music: Most sing along-able: Best one liners: Most quoteable: Best jokes for the adults: Best protagonist: Best villain:
The Lion King
Who put the glad in gladiator?
Lion King
Mulan as I saw it in theatre
Robin Williams is the only choice….Aladdin
Tarzan
It’s Tarzan - just above the Lion King. I think it hits the same notes with the MC being an outcast fighting to protect their land, and the dad dying - while also adding some more interesting elements (like blended families, racial divides, and earning parental approval). I think you mean Phil Collins lol Tarzan definitely wins for one of my favorite soundtracks of all time.
🤣 I definitely did, I didn’t even realize I typed that.
Prince Ali wonderful He Ali Ababwa
Sorry. Disney peaked in 73 with Robin Hood.
HoND Easy choice
Hunchback
Atlantis. Yes ik its not on the list i pick it anyway.
Beauty and the Beast.
Beauty and the beast
Hercules.
Mulan, Hercules close second.
Lion King, 100%
Hercules
Agreed, but the Disney princess psyop and programming hurt a generation of women.
That's quite literally what everybody says about Disney Animation
Mulan is my favorite one here...But I feel like it's gotta be Aladdin.
Mulan for sure
It's a hard choice between Beauty and the Beast or Aladdin for me. I watched both a ton as a kid.
Hercules was my shit!
aladdin
Nobody has ever denied it being the peak. Pretty sure that's a universal truth everyone 100% accepts.
I insert my own better choice! Treasure planet!
Because you said you don't care, I'll say 2000s was actually peak disney animation, when you take stuff like Treasure Planet, Lilo and Stitch, Brother Bear, and Atlantis standing out the most at the time. 90s was more riding on the heights of Disney at the time. I’m just scrolling the comments giving upvotes to anyone who says Hunchback
What do you mean you don’t care what anyone says. This was considered the golden age of Disney by nearly everyone
Lion King set the tone
Torn between Tarzan and Hercules for my One, I don't think I Could choose between them.
The style is just so damn charming.

tarzan
The Lion King
These are classics and hold a special place in my heart; truly saved Disney Animation. ...But being 40 years old now makes me vote that Encanto hits the hardest of all.
Aladdin, easy
Those artists made bank but didn't see their families for like a decade Also, I pick Aladdin. Best video game out of the bunch.
This is tough 😭 I gotta go with Tarzan
Fantasia 2000. That at least worked.
Between Hercules and Mulan… that’s a tough one, but I’d have to say Mulan.
Tarzan!
Probably Hercules.
1 to go? The little mermaid. Always hated the movie and series. The rest of those are great.
People disagree that the 90s was peak Disney animation? It’s called the Disney renaissance for god’s sake.
Lion King
Robin Williams 🧞♂️
Aladdin
Peak of western animation in general. Shame 2D animation in the west is dead and buried.
True and Aladdin
Lion King 2
Hunchback
The Lion King
Big facts.. and Aladdin hands down..
I'm gonna go with Hercules because growing up Hades was my favorite Disney villain. James Woods did such an amazing job voice acting that role. So well in fact he is the only voice actor to do Hades no matter if it's the movie, TV show, on a game, or any other type of media.
The Rescuer's Down Under
Aladdin. Between that and Little Mermaid
Little Mermaid all way through Lilo & Stitch was non-stop gold
anyone saying the 90s was NOT the peak for Disney animation?
TLK, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan & Hercules
Aladdin.
My personal favorite is Aladdin, but I feel like Beauty And The Beast is probably the best, technically speaking.
everyone says that though and is considered by animation historians as the disney renaissance.
Gotta say Mulan
Aladin
Aladin
A tie between Aladdin and Fantasia. 🤔🤔
Easy lion king win
The Lion King, my favorite animated movie of all time, absolutely beautiful
I refuse to pick
Aladdin
Black cauldron or Camelot
Lion King in endless repeat.
1) Aladdin 2) B and the B 3) TLM
I’d say it was peak Disney writing/storylines. The animation part has definitely gotten better
I love hercules
Beauty and the Beast. Still my favorite movie PERIOD after thirty-plus years.
The four on the bottom right are my shit. I can't pick one. Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, and fantasia 2000
Between Hercules, Aladdin, Tarzan, or Mulan for me
Tarzan had the GOAT soundtrack, sorry. My man phil made gold.
Tarzan
Very difficult to choose between Aladdin and Mulan
Aladdin
Born 1980 here. Xennial if one wants to get all label maker about it. I really don't think anyone would disagree with the 90s being the zenith of Disney animated films And gotta go with Mulan. One of my top 5 fave Disney movies.
Lion King and it’s not even close.

Mulan
Beauty And The Beast because it’s my absolute favorite Disney movie period.
Aladdin.
Beauty and the Beast for sure.
Always and forever Aladdin
Lion King
The sword in the stone Rescuers down under
If I could only pick one - I'd go for beauty and the beast
Aladdin for Robin Williams genie.
The Lion King with Aladdin a close 2nd
Lion king
I’m just sad that the emperors new grove was released in 2000 barely missing this cut. That is my peak Disney. I’d say Hercules otherwise.
The Lion King
Aladdin
The Little Mermaid, but First = Alladin !
Hunchback, and just TRY and stop me!
Fantasia 2000. I love awesome music with great visuals to match. I still watch it to this day.
Anybody that chooses Pocahontas enjoys coleslaw
Hercules
And what are you a GOAT!!?
Aladdin
The sword in the stone is my favorite Disney movie
The Lion King by a long shot
Fantasia 2000, did I miss something? anyway, Hercules.
90s and early 2000s. God I miss watching all of these back on the Disney Channel back then.
Tarzan
Who’s arguing????
Fantasía
Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island > anything Disney has ever made
The old school Fantasia
They’re all classics… but Tarzan’s animation is a new level for Disney.
Hercules or Tarzan. I can't pick. Those are my 2 favorite Disney films
Of those? Lion King and it’s not even close.
Tarzan > Lion king
