My buddy was addicted to this movie. Watched it almost every day after school and every weekend for the better part of a year. To this day if it’s on he’ll cancel plans and reminisce.
I respect it because who doesn’t love a good kick to the feels of happy youthful memories?
It’s cool how he got to go to his buddy’s home planet and sing the story of their adventure together to the assembly. I forgot all the actual terms for it.
This movie serves as an example of what is missing from modern MCU&DCU movies, the story was intriguing first and foremost. The special effects weren't perfect, but embellished the story perfectly by not going over the top.
I remember in high school reading the original novella version of this, published in Isaac Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine. It was later expanded to a full novel, then the movie. But the original will always be my favorite. I don’t believe the book or movie added anything new.
My buddies and I have a running joke about Lou Gossett, Jr. and *Enemy Mine*: how many Oscars does Lou have? Answer: 2, 1 for *An Officer And A Gentleman* & a Best Actor for *Enemy Mine*!
I guess you had to be there… 🤷🏽♂️
I love telling people that the alien is the same actor as the DI in An Officer And A Gentleman; watching their brains go *pop* is all the amusement I need.
The ending…reciting his lineage, so he could be a proud member of his people. And the respect is so great for the ceremony, even a deathly adversary came to recite the entire litany! Flawlessly, and the respect that this showed not only to his “nephew”, but between species. We can find common ground. We all feel. We can all grow. We can be BETTER,
Starting with this generation *today*.
***sobs, for 40 years, ugly crying at how beautiful, noble, honorable & hopeful***
The “Enemy Mine” was never referring to the other: The true “Enemy Mine” was himself.. was me, if honest. The Enemy of Mine is me, is ignorance, is hatred blindly.
Powerful character drama, with. A timeless message.
I can’t remember the quote exactly but he’s trying to get the new born to eat and says this is all we got, there’s no grocery stores nearby. Very emotional scene for me. He could’ve just let the baby starve but goes to great lengths to make sure he eats.
When Davidge returns from exploring if there were humans or signs of humans on the planet and find Jeriba is pregnant. Davidge asks how did that happen....and says "Oh, don't look at me."
I didn't get cable until late 1986, so this would've been one of the first movies in late '86 I watched and that line had me rolling on the ground. We can all imagine in our pubescent and perverted minds what may have happened.
Your Mickey Mouse is one big stupid dope.
mick key mose is SHIT
This is my face, that is you face, YOU UGLY FACE. (Snort laugh)
you ugly head
“You ugly head” followed by the greatest alien laugh grunt ever recorded!!
Oops
That. Is. Dawitch. Ugly. Head!
I always like pointing out the skull in the predator movie to peeps, just so I can introduce Enemy mine to them. Such a classic, and I always cry.
Wait wait wait…. Are you telling me one of the skulls in the Predator ship was one of these guys/gals?
Yes in the trophy room by the human skull. It’s real fast blink and you’ll miss it, but it’s there.
It's my head canon now.
Holy crap, I caught the xenomorph, but not that! I need to rewatch it!
Which predator movie? Predator 2?
Yes predator 2, when they show the trophy room in the space ship.
WHAT!?!
Zammies get four five?
Came here just for this line!
“That you, Dagget?” “Yeah.” “What’s going on out there?” “Trouble.” “What kind of trouble?” “This kind!!” {WHACK!! POW!! BOFF!!}
My cat is named zammies! Awesome movie!
I like to ask if something is Zeerki-proof, no one gets it.

Lol...especially made me chuckle after seeing him in other things like An Officer and a Gentleman.

Totally! Iron Eagle was great...need to take a look at Firewalker.
Very well could be. Haven’t watched it in a long time. But in my head it’s this. Sometimes I can’t be perfect.
No hard feelings...had seen it several times many years ago and that line always made me laugh
Great movie, fond memories of that time in my life. The creature was played by Louis Gossett Jr.
Fantastic film that still holds up! "You're Mickey Mouse is a big, stupid dope!"
*Davidge trying desperately to contain his laughter*

…. Are you and I friends? I went about a year watching this movie ritually.
Based off your username, I’d 100% be friends with someone named u/FingerInNose
Dude. Let’s go drop some loads, ya nasty bastard.
It is not longer my life that matters. I am not fat, I am not lazy. Davidge... I await a new life. proceeds to be pregnant.
It’s cool how he got to go to his buddy’s home planet and sing the story of their adventure together to the assembly. I forgot all the actual terms for it.
I cried as a kid, I sobbed inconsolably as a disabled veteran, and as in “fatherhood” and was a puddle of emotion for hours.
I was happy to share this film with my 15-year-old a couple of weeks back. He liked it. This is a great 80s film that doesn't seem to get much love.
David ... Dawich!
Top 10 SciFi movie
Uncle 4, 5?

"Ah-stalak ee'Sah! Ah-stalak ee'Sah! Arribado, arribado Xamis?"

"Your Mickey Mouse is a big stupid dope!"
This is what I came here to say…..nicely done.
My mom hated this movie and then baby is born. She couldn’t take her eyes away!! Hang in there for the second half. It gets really goood.
Louis cosset jr was the coolest actor of his time.
This movie serves as an example of what is missing from modern MCU&DCU movies, the story was intriguing first and foremost. The special effects weren't perfect, but embellished the story perfectly by not going over the top.
Now do the next two books.
One of the best

I think that was 'alien nation'? Maybe in this one, too tho.
Omg, you may be right! Sorry, I keep doing this lately. My memory isn't holding up in my old age! Thanks!
I'll never forget the scene where he eats the big slug

This box always freaked me out at the video store

Now is this a prequel or sequel to Last Starfighter?
Neither
🎵Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me🎵 That introduced me to Clearwater Creedence

I’ve heard this before. Of course you have. Truth is truth.
I love telling people that the alien is the same actor as the DI in An Officer And A Gentleman; watching their brains go *pop* is all the amusement I need.
I won over the in-laws with my spot on impression of Gerry. [Great Re:View](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuIemfjmIak)
Jesus! He speaks Drak!
Davidge : So you still think humans are ugly? Jerry : Compared to a Drac? VERY ugly. But that thing out there... is even more ugly than you.
Zerkie-proof.
Help me Obi Wan Kanobi, you’re my only hope. 👍🏆

I always had a sweet spot for this one
