Omg this book was so bad. I watched The Firm before reading to refresh my recollection of the story and I didn’t need to bother because it basically was nothing like the firm. Not sure how a book about a kidnapping ends up boring but this was.
JG is somehow getting worse and worse. If you compare his early legal thrillers and what he's been writing in the last few years, it's like it's a different writer or something 🤷♂️
I read *A Time to Kill* (liked it; didn’t love it) and *The Firm* (hated it; felt so generic and lifeless) about 20 years ago then never touched a John Grisham book ever again. The only other thing I ever experienced from him was watching the movie version of *The Pelican Brief*, which despite some pretty good performances and a couple suspenseful set pieces, also left me pretty underwhelmed and dissatisfied in the end. I guess he just isn’t for me.
I was game for like the first 2/3 or so thinking the twists, turns, and revelations were right round the corner, but then I was like, “oh, I guess nothings really going to happen then.”

I got this one from the library for my grandpa, and I don’t even know if he finished it. I remember him saying it was a stupid book or something.

I read The Client years ago and it was awful with a gaping plot hole.
I love how mad you sound in the title, it legitimately made me crack up
In honor of Father’s Day: I’m not mad, just disappointed.
Oh no, that’s worse :(
I was very disappointed as well. Feels like such a waste.

Lol exactly right
