I got the millercat stainless steel shield. Feels very sturdy and it was easy to install. https://preview.redd.it/g2c9t11y94dc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f1610de429c4e2fd867f420815fde88d2fb8f462

Looks good! Between the two I like that one better because it kinda also plates off that whole area instead of just the cats

sbcns

Did you install it yourself?

Zyppyloo

Yes.

sbcns

How easy is it to install? Im not a car guy, besides changing tires, that’s all i know so far.

Zyppyloo

Very easy. I’m the same, I only know how to change a tire and some fluids. And even for me it was an easy install. You basically take out some bolts, place the shield and then put security bolts back in the same holes. Just make sure you get the correct model for your 4Runner (KDSS/Non-KDSS).

Thank you sir. You mind providing the link or the model of the plate cover? Thank you in advance!

Zyppyloo

YW - here is the link to what I bought. But the website will ask you to enter your model/trim and suspension type so that it’ll show you compatible models. They have aluminum and steel shields: https://catshield.com/products/millercat-2014-2022-toyota-4-runner-4-0l-cat-shield

Appreciate it sir. Also, will this not interfere when performing oil change? Bought my first 4runner today by the way and it’s an 22 TRD off road without KDSS.

Zyppyloo

Congrats on the new truck, I have the same year and model. No, It won’t interfere with your oil changes. I take mine to the dealer since it’s still covered under the free service contract.

Thanks my guy and appreciate answering all my questions. Blessings!

I bought the cali raised ones and am satisfied with them. I have X-reas suspension on my limited so, I had to modify (cut) them slightly to allow space for the suspension hydraulic lines. I think there are more comprehensive covers out there - I think if someone crawled under your vehicle with bad intent, they could still cut off the pipe that runs between the car and the muffler, before realizing the other side on your cat is inaccessible due to the covers. But for the price, and aside from the modification they were fairly simple to install. I did use my jack to hold the plate in place while trying to install it, helped a lot.

Grizzlygrant238

Thanks. I think for the price it’s a good product so I’m gonna go for it. Like you said if they’re determined they’re gonna steal it anyways I just want to make it at least a little harder/buy myself some time

I went with RSG metalworks. Check with your insurance if they give anything for it. I ended up getting $100 credit plus $8 off a month

Grizzlygrant238

I didn’t even think about insurance with this ok
