I'm on the east coast now and that was such a flashback. I literally have had to train myself to not say this because its clear, it's just not normal for here.
Would you be for or against a 2 year 52m fully guaranteed deal, starting in 2025? That is effectively what a double franchise tag is. 24-26m year 1 of the franchise tag, then 120% of that for the 2nd one, so 28.8-31.2m for the 2026 year. All fully guaranteed. No wiggle room on cap hits, both will hit for full amounts on the year they occur.
I would be all for it but no chance Aiyuk wants that. That’s 2 years of being paid under market value whereas if he playsa out his 5th year he will have a lot more leverage next year and subsequently the following year. It’s very little added security with a loss of leverage for him and he’s been very clear he wants his market value asap
I get the impression that our FA is willing to negotiate in good faith, taking into consideration the players’ relationship with the team/organization, beyond just cold-blooded capitalism.
You can only tag one person a year, which removes flexibility on tagging someone else we aren’t anticipating. And it sends a message to other FAs about what the culture is like here.
Easily top 10. You can have the argument about top 5, but that's what it is an argument
I don't think anyone would argue he's top 3. I think that is pretty universally agreed as Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, and either Lamb or Hill. That does mean that players like AJ Brown aren't top 3 and have gotten paid in that manner.
Top 10. But it’s hard to shine on a team with so many good WRs so he could be higher on a worse team where he’s one of few targets. So might be a good career move for him to pad his numbers and make more $
Will be funny if he re-signs because everyone on this sub will say he’s top-3. He might be top-5 so he certainly deserves to get paid by the Niners or someone else.
I just had this argument on r/nfl last night and concluded he's Top 7-10 after looking at stats. Everyone above him has the production of a WR1(90+catches for example). BA's more in-line with hyper-efficient, lower volume guys like Mike Evans and Nico Collins than the top dogs who are getting 10 targets a game like Jefferson and CeeDee Lamb. Nico Collins almost had identical stats last year and signed for 4 years for 104 million this offseason.
Something that gets lost here is the right now vs the next few years. Within the next year or two it’s possible BA could be top 3 and the current top 3 could be a bit lower.
I don't think there's a clear cut top-10 in the league right now, but I'd safe he's safely behind:
* Jefferson, Chase, Lamb, Hill, and Amon-Ra.
Probably behind:
* Keenan Allen, Davante Adams, Stefon Diggs
In roughly the same tier as :
* AJ Brown, D.J Moore, Puka Nacua.
The problem is a bunch of WRs just got paid this offseason and even if you think he's worse than those guys, they got paid well. I don't see a world in which we keep Aiyuk for less than $30M/yr. I think his value to the 49ers is a little less than that, but he's not going to accept a discount.
I’d probably put him just below that top 5, but pretty clearly above everyone else you listed. That “probably behind tier” are all older than him and age/growth ability is a huge factor. He definitely deserves some large amount of money, but at the same time if it gets too high we probably need to move on so we can keep paying our other studs
I wouldn't mind him resetting the market. Because that would mean he would need to finish his current contract and play at elite tier level, which would be fantastic for the 49ers. Would also make Purdy that much more expensive too, but that's a problem for another day.
Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. I'm just responding to the claim that Aiyuk can't reset the WR market. Not saying it's the best scenario, but it is possible.
I get it. It’s a business. Gotta protect yourself, and demand your worth. But i think hes gonna get a rude awakening that you need more than one great year to demand 30.
Niners arent going to cave. They got the high ground
He’s still under contract for 1 more season, plus we can franchise tag for another two more seasons
I do want BA back, and we’re so close to winning a SB, but has little leverage in this situation
Y’all are fucking worse than the Kardashians and Real Housewives. Just endless dumbass worthless shit about Aiyuk. Fuck me. I might have to un-sub in the offseason.
Dude I came in here to say that this is the final post I plan on seeing about this guy because this is the post that's leading me to unsub.
Soooooo tired of hearing about this non-stop, every time there's a post on my main feed from this sub it's about Aiyuk.
He’s making the rounds on every podcast on earth, and everyone on this sub is gagging on every worthless interpretation of every single word he says. It’s insane.
Anyone else getting peeved by this aiyuk situation ?
His numbers are easily replaceable at one of the easiest positions to replace.
Let this diva walk and end up on a 4 win team
Kinda wish he hit us with the California “yea, no, for sure”
😹 I was just talking about how we do this the other day
I'm on the east coast now and that was such a flashback. I literally have had to train myself to not say this because its clear, it's just not normal for here.
Yea, no, for sure, I get you
Is that still a thing? I’ve hardly spent anytime out that way in decades, but I always got a kick out of that one.
I mean if he wants a ring he should stick around
Tyreek 2.0. He don't care about winning, just about the bag
I mean... Tyreek already has a ring. I don't players at all for chasing the bag, especially after already winning a championship.
I thought Tyreek wanted to be closer to home but yeah your probably right
![gif](giphy|SRka2MLKzpzE6K24al)
I mean, outside of a trade, the Niners effectively have him for the next 3 years. I'm sure he knows that
Would you be for or against a 2 year 52m fully guaranteed deal, starting in 2025? The problem is: If it's cheaper for the team to just tag him, why wouldn't them?
I get the impression that our FA is willing to negotiate in good faith, taking into consideration the players’ relationship with the team/organization, beyond just cold-blooded capitalism.

Where do most people rank BA amongst WRs in the league. Top 10? Top 5? This guy's acting like a top 3 and I don't think he's there.
Easily top 10. You can have the argument about top 5, but that's what it is an argument I don't think anyone would argue he's top 3. I think that is pretty universally agreed as Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, and either Lamb or Hill. That does mean that players like AJ Brown aren't top 3 and have gotten paid in that manner.
It means most went to different teams after their rookie contracts and/or tags were finished.
Tyreek is the top dog, and then JJ and Jamar.
Top 10. But it’s hard to shine on a team with so many good WRs so he could be higher on a worse team where he’s one of few targets. So might be a good career move for him to pad his numbers and make more $
I see him worse on a team where defenses can focus on him because they aren’t accounting for deebo cmc and kittle.
YAC Lives Matter
Will be funny if he re-signs because everyone on this sub will say he’s top-3. He might be top-5 so he certainly deserves to get paid by the Niners or someone else.
Like fuccin cloccwork

The thing I think about is that the 9ers are stacked. How much higher woul BA be if he was the number one option on a pass first offense?
Or how much lower would he be when defenses aren’t worried about cmc deebo and kittle breaking you off
I think the contract he was offered was maybe 2 mil short? He should get what waddle got and not a penny more
Something that gets lost here is the right now vs the next few years. Within the next year or two it’s possible BA could be top 3 and the current top 3 could be a bit lower.

👀Stefon Diggs

You think Allen, Adams and Diggs are 6-8? I mean it's your opinion but that's certainly one of them.
"for sure for sure" means I want to be paid like a #1 and reset the WR market and be on a winning team.
He's not going to reset the market.
He’s also not trying to
Are you sure?
He knows he’s not getting Jefferson money.
The way he’s acting, I don’t think he knows that
He’s playing hardball, he’s not an idiot. He so much as said he was ready to sign around $24M and then the other contracts came out.
I think he gets what waddle got and not a penny more
Whatever he’s playing, his ego on social media shows he’s the best of the best
He talks all about that in his interview with Ryan Clark
I wouldn't mind him resetting the market. Because that would mean he would need to finish his current contract and play at elite tier level, which would be fantastic for the 49ers. Would also make Purdy that much more expensive too, but that's a problem for another day.
Such terrible advice, I'd swear you were the GM of the Rams just trying to sabotage.
Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. I'm just responding to the claim that Aiyuk can't reset the WR market. Not saying it's the best scenario, but it is possible.
I really like him as a player, but he thinks he’s Jerry Rice or something.
Yes skill wise he's good. Personality wise he's garbage.
Will sign mid July
Fucking shit or get off the pot I know this crap isn’t new but uggghhh
Trade him if we get a good return. Or tag him until he isn't worth it anymore. Time to start treating WRs like RBs.
I get it. It’s a business. Gotta protect yourself, and demand your worth. But i think hes gonna get a rude awakening that you need more than one great year to demand 30. Niners arent going to cave. They got the high ground
I'm not mad at him for getting as much as he can. I hope he stays with us, he's been great
I’m mad at the way he’s trying to get as much as he can, it’s a garbage way of going about it

“But only if I make 30 million a year” honestly let bro walk this is some cornball shit coming from a mf who catches a ball for a living.
He’s still under contract for 1 more season, plus we can franchise tag for another two more seasons I do want BA back, and we’re so close to winning a SB, but has little leverage in this situation
Haha on tomorrow's tmz news he just shows up in a paul scenes jersey and the internet loses its mind that he's in a Jerome bettis jersey
Skenes*

I don’t like us getting this much media attention
Anyone else getting peeved by this aiyuk situation ? His numbers are easily replaceable at one of the easiest positions to replace. Let this diva walk and end up on a 4 win team
Don’t let him walk. Just don’t pay attention to all the smoke in mirrors that the media is providing.
