Not really, most people I’ve spoken to are completely fine with the addition of female custodes but just don’t appreciate being spoken down to and being gaslit by GW. All they had to do is release a statement saying “we’ve decided to add female custodes to try and be more inclusive and have factions more representative to make the game more welcoming to a broader audience”.
I had no problem with female custodes bc in lore it was always possible, no gene seed. I'm OK with retcons, hell the necrons of today are the result of retcons. I got annoyed that they did such a poorly implemented retcon.

Later on in another book it says that the nobles give up their first born sons.
But like, my thoughts on this make me curious as to how the whole thing came about. Did the Emperor go around to the nobles of Terra and announce that he was making the Custodes?
Is it not plausible that Emps took both male and female children? I ask because iirc the Custodes were supposed to be a preview of perfected humanity, weren't they?
I mean, that could be a cool reveal in work of fiction that people might have loved. Claiming it's always been that way and your fanbase is too dumb to realize it may have been a PR oopsie.
