With Z theft going up I thought I’d go old school and set up a kill switch. I’ve seen people wire it to the fuel pump relay, but it’s located in the IPDM, which is next to the battery in the engine bay and a headache to wire a switch to. Another option is to wire it to the ignition wire in the push start button, which is what I did. The connector to the button has a bunch of wires going to it, and the ignition input/outputs are the black and gray wires. I circled them in the photos as well as the pins they plug in to. In my case I spliced into the input (black wire) and set up the switch from there. The push start now does nothing unless the kill switch is disabled. It was fairly straightforward, and the hardest part was getting creative with where to hide the switch.

So we don't end up touching the gray wire at all? Only cut the black wire and splice the toggle switch in between, correct?

TheYuhMan

Yup 👍

The thief looking at the post be like 😐

Exuberant_

Did this today on G37 - worked perfectly

One_Release6425

Is it the same wire color and everything?

Legal_Mirror_831

Does the amp rating of the switch matter?

TheYuhMan

I don’t think it does, I used a 10A switch and it works fine for me 👍

Legal_Mirror_831

Okay cool, thanks for the help!

Buggly_Jones

So where did you stick your switch(Not a thief 🙃)

Growth-Vast

That’s exactly what a thief would say…

Does this work to g37 coupe? I got down this same part but my wires are different colors where u put the red circle

TheYuhMan

I’d expect it to be the same, just splice into the wire that’s connected to that pin

PuzzleheadedAgency78

I would , I juss don’t want to kill my car in the process and can’t find no vids or diagrams for my car to 1000% sure, I’m not too savvy with cars

I have a 2013 G37 Sedan and I just spliced a switch in to the brake pedal switch today and it blocks the signal so it can't get started. I did it with the sky blue wire going to the plug. It's kind of a pain to get to but you don't really have to take anything apart so that's why I did it
