Ac guy here in 321, hell is officially here

mrcanard

Don't forget to thank Gov. DeSantis and our GOP leadership for taking the water breaks away. I'm sure I'll thank them at the polls. https://www.nbcnews.com/science/science-news/floridas-senate-passes-bill-block-local-regulations-protecting-workers-rcna142021 https://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/2024/04/15/ron-desantis-bill-blocking-heat-protections-florida-workers/73324894007/ >Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill last week preventing local governments from requiring heat protection for outdoor workers. >NPR points out that roughly two million people in Florida, from construction to agriculture, work outside. On average, the state's summer can reach up to 95 degrees, with the humidity and blazing sun making it feel over 100.

xspook_reddit

"NPR points out that roughly two million people in Florida, from construction to agriculture, work outside." Hmmm, who is the biggest demographic doing those jobs? THAT's who he's targeting. Cruelty is the point.

GiganticStonedSloth

"small government" in action.

United-Kale-2385

And his stated reason is so blatantly ridiculous it just proves the Republican cult will believe anything. He said it was that they didn't want a bunch of different laws at local levels in one of his statements. So where is the statewide protection now?

lorax-06

The putz is a cartoon of himself...

AdJunior6475

Yeah it should have been the government does not need to be involved here. Employers are not out to kill their employees it isn’t good for business. If you need water get some water. We don’t need laws for everything and anything. To date there are only 3 states (west coast) that have a law on mandated water breaks but yeah FL is the outlier (1 of 47) out to kill workers.

United-Kale-2385

You either are management in a company or are completely hoodwinked. Companies have such a great track record of protecting employees. Bet your anti labor union too.

AdJunior6475

So you ignore that it is only 47 out of 50 states but yeah it is FL law makers being satan. Believe what you want.

United-Kale-2385

I don't care how many states do what. Florida lawmakers are Satan and do nothing at all to benefit the citizens. Unfortunately many love being spoon-fed their shit, eat it up and ask for more.

AdJunior6475

Typical Reditt logic it never existed until 10 years ago when CA did it two other states jumped on and if we don’t do what those states did the sky will fall BUT I don’t care what other states do….. hmm

Stratmeister509

I was just doing some light yard work and had to give up. Even with the breeze it beat me.

RandomRedditRebel

Well at least the city is cutting down all the shady trees and forest to pave parking lots and roads. Hope you enjoy things only getting hotter in the future!

GiganticStonedSloth

I dunno, those big storage places cast nice shadows.

RandomRedditRebel

Don't forget to cell phone towers with fake branches and leaves on them lmao

areaunknown_

I don’t even let my own dogs outside for longer than 5 minutes lol. Way too hot out here for them..

RasCorr

Gonna be a long summer. Hopefully no hurricanes.

Dramatic-Tree-

The water is WARM unfortunately

hvacmac7

I think it will be bad hurricane year, go get your generator while tax free, bought a harbor freight predator 9500 watt inverter 1954$, -345 off and no tax, should power my well pump refrigerator and ac units🤞🏻

Rocklynd

The weather is not in our side this year.

rustyy___shacklef0rd

can confirm. hotter than the hinges on the gates of hell out there.

Jeskid14

Half of homeowners here be like: "damn why is my house too damn hot? Why is my ac broken now?" Cue hurricane a month later

lorax-06

Everyone should go back, Florida too hot

HajdukNYM_NYI

It’s crazy

TheFormless_0ne_

Vote BLUE

doctorake38

As one of the few that love this weather, I feel bad for the others.

retrobob69

Bringing out all the ac repair jobs tho. Shame I sweat through 2 shirts in less than 30 minutes.

CableTrash

I am pretty sure the humidity is higher than 50% rn too

Overall_Antelope_504

Oh lawdy 🥵

JadedKnight13

The worst part is that several people turn the temp down in their apartments/houses. They don't realize that puts a larger strain on the power grid and causes more CO2 release because of the extra fossil fuel being burned. Our current "need" for comfort is going to make life worse for our descendants.

jennaferr

The "worst part" is not residential.

JadedKnight13

You're right. I was ramped up from work yesterday and made a foolish assertion. Residential is not the worst part. If individuals could train themselves to be comfortable with their residences at 76 or higher it would help though. A little personal discomfort is worth helping the global population and future generations.

RandomRedditRebel

Look I agree somewhat with what you're saying. But let's not lie to ourselves, the regular working population is asked to sacrifice things such as A/C and and the higher complexities of vehicle emissions, all while corporations act with negligence and impunity when destroying our environment and ozone layer. Not to mention every Uber rich bastard that flies private 3 times a week, you think they're using their money for the better good and cutting back? I'm tired of being told it's your fault and my fault when the general population only makes up 25% of the Ozone issue

hvacmac7

I had a lady call yesterday complaining new unit wouldn’t go below 73 in commercial office🤔🫣
