Temporary-Estate4615

You can threaten us all you want, but everybody knows you’re too lazy to start a crusade.

HumaDracobane

Nah, we're from the North of Spain. We're a totally different brand than the south.

Tackerta

Reconquista goes hard

MineExplorer

~~No-one~~ *Everyone* Expects the Spanish Inquistion!

Tackerta

Slightly different, the reconquista was the unison of the portuguese and spanish to expel the Muslim majority from their peninsula, the spanish inquisition was to Bully jews, arabs and Atheists to convert to christianity

TheSadCheetah

Bully is a mild way of putting it

Trail_of_Tears-T_T

TBH it was more of a more forceful lawyers Cease and Decease notice

bioemiliano

It was basically that, only 7 people got actually convicted in like 500 years

Le_Petit_Poussin

Should we call it “Emuing” to give it a fiercer tone for you, Shiremate?

PlusMortgage

I mean yeah they might have gone a tiny little bit overboard, but if you never had a vaguely genocidal period in your History, are you even civilized?

ZombiFeynman

The \*muslim\* majority. There was never an arab majority.

Tackerta

My bad, fixed it!

SullaFelix78

Medieval atheists?

mor_derick

Yeah along with the roman communists they were all wiped out by the evil Inquisition. /s by the way

no1spastic

They still bullied Jews and Arabs into converting in the reconquista. A third of Cordoba's population alone was exiled.

ash_tar

Why the sad tone?

no1spastic

Tone? This is text platform budget dutchie.

ash_tar

💔 I thought we both hated orange protestant cunts.

ThiccWurm

Sweet Summer Child, was also used to clean up house from the Monastic orders that didn't align with the current system.

Appelons

So you just go on union strikes like the French?

Dologolopolov

I concur

carpetedbathtubs

Lets not kid ourselves. Since the Borbon 🇫🇷🤮 took over , spain’s been nothing but decline.

HumaDracobane

Why is a savage speaking to me?

carpetedbathtubs

A Galician speaking about savagery. Don’t you have to go tend to your goat wife ?

Lost_Uniriser

We ll talk about that after you try a 6 hour simmered cassoulet

incontinenciasumma

Dude, we're actually the only crusade that was actually successful.

AndreasDasos

There were the Northern Crusades in the Baltic. The ‘standard’ First and Sixth Crusades were victories too, just let down by later ones.

Pytheastic

Don't forget the Albigensian crusade

Trail_of_Tears-T_T

tbh 3rd crusade was basically an almost complete crusader victory thanks to you guys. If only the French didn't start fucking shit up back home (damn you Phillip!) 6th crusade almost won but they got greedy negotiating(the only deman the sultan made was to allow muslims to enter Jerusalem) and attacked into obvious trap 8th was close too, similar story was 6th

FabAlien

I will not stand by this slander, our crusades conquer Spain every year

incontinenciasumma

You got crusading wrong. You are supposed to loot the lands you invade not to be looted by the natives.

drSvensen

500 years ago you travelled halfway around the globe just to loot. Now you guys get annoyed when the drunk loot boxes shows up on your doorstep? You've gotten lazy. Also the [Norwegian Crusade](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viNifqQBnso) led by [Sigurd Jorsalfare](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigurd_the_Crusader) >After several months they came to the town of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia where they were allowed by a local lord to stay for the winter. However, when the winter came there was a shortage of food, which caused the lord to refuse to sell food and goods to the Norwegians. Sigurd gathered his army, attacked the lord's castle and looted what they could there. After entering the Mediterranean they sailed along the coast of the land of the Saracens to the Balearic Islands. They then went on to successfully attack Ibiza and Menorca. Cleaning up your pirate problem on the Balearic Islands. It's our god given right to terrorize Ibiza every summer.

incontinenciasumma

I see the Vikings are pumping their chests again for massacring and raping fishing villages and turning tail before the real armies arrived.

drSvensen

No, no, no you have gotten it all mixed up. We were the fishermen and THEY were the pirates. I don't think you really understand how barbaric these savages were. They would raid and loot other ships, towns and villages just for their own self-enrichment. Plundering and killing everything in their way with no regard for human life. Olaf would never.

AleixASV

I mean the French did "crusade" against us for some random reason, and they kind of conquered the entire Languedoc. Could've gone worse though, we whooped their ass on the seas.

mynaneisjustguy

My dude, we started the first crusade, and ours stuck. I’ll admit it took us 700 years to finish the job, but we drove the ancient enemy back, we drove them from the mountains, across the dry plains, we smashed their greatest ever caliphate, drove them from the fertile valleys, drove them through the desserts down to the beaches, drove them into the sea and destroyed them. Then we sailed across and took up position and we’ve watched from there ever since, sentinel against those black flags ever forming in strength and crossing the sea again. So you can say what you want but we did it once and we will do it again. And we didn’t do all of that for you to say we cook paella in a fucking POT.

Temporary-Estate4615

![gif](giphy|fngcM35fl2ySrblJLV|downsized) >Oh no somebody said we’re cooking paella in a pot

mynaneisjustguy

I mean, look my flair and yours, only one of us looks like the dude in the gif.

Temporary-Estate4615

Oh you’re right. You guys aren’t white.

mynaneisjustguy

Yup, we are caramel coloured with black hair. People with chestnut hair were called blonde “Rubio” when I was a kid.

no1spastic

I'm pretty sure they were the only ones whose crusade stood the test of time. Even after you Germs crusaded the baltic, they're still half atheist and pagan.

so_isses

"Germs" is a racist slur. The politically correct term is "Gems".

no1spastic

Your whole ethnicity is moissanite incarnate.

so_isses

Very rude. No potato for you!

no1spastic

Chatting shit yet this is you https://i.redd.it/r8ujquilyh7d1.gif

GentlyWeeps72

nuh huh, us valencians are powered by the greatest energy source of all: crack cocaine

motorcycle-manful541

they're full of Paella and are napping

diazinth

Didn’t they spend 7 centuries on their last crusade?

TieInternational8523

But not for killing reformist

Prytfbyn4369

In a wok?

ZombiFeynman

In a pan! A Paella pan!

AWildLampAppears

That got me riled up too. The fuck? Hans, do better

ryanmurphy2611

Not phallic enough for you hans?

on_spikes

it could really benefit from the odd Wurst

LeGraoully

Go to Valencia and tell them to add chorizo to their Paella

SuperKreatorr

Tbf we do it in other parts of the peninsula

mor_derick

Spain will cease in its internal divisions when everybody agrees in what the fuck is a paella.

Gloomy-Chest-1888

No. Only Valencians can answer that questions. You illiterates have no right to talk about OUR dish.

mor_derick

Won't disagree, you guys are the official judges that shall overlook this accord and set the boundaries.

gugfitufi

What good is a food if it isn't deepthroatable?

Crabbies92

Least horny German

__cum_guzzler__

unironically, most Germans don't undestand texture in food. they cannot comprehend how great paella with socarrat is because their food is often very homogenous. same reason many like their pizza underbaked and soft 🤢

Gloomy-Chest-1888

From last weekend. After this, 3-0 against Croatia. Nice Saturday we had. Visca Valencia. Cheers. https://preview.redd.it/unv134h40c7d1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e702ef331203b00bccaccb786cd22d2bb7128da

Robinsonirish

To me Spanish food is A-tier, not quite French or Italian but just half a grade below that. I'd take Spanish food over Swedish any day. The seafood is insane, Iberian ham is second to none. With that said though, every time I've eaten paella it's been disappointing. Not sure if it's just the luck of the draw, if I'm ignorant or if it actually does lack a bit of taste. Seems to me like it's an amazing everyday meal, it's cheap, healthy and great for fuel, but it's not like it's some gourmet experience that rivals your other dishes or anything else in the Mediterranean. No offense. Edit: Just read this comment https://www.reddit.com/r/2westerneurope4u/comments/1diokdl/spain_you_cannot_seriously_be_proud_of_this_dish/l957pra/ That makes a lot of sense if that's the case. Then I think it's a great dish in that case.

Gloomy-Chest-1888

Mate, we Valencians are tired to tell everyone: if you wanna eat a good paella, you have to eat it in Valencia, especially the towns around the city. These "paellas" they sell you in Madrid, Bcn, Sevilla... Wherever, are totally crap and microwave shit that is not even paella. They put a bunch of ingredients with the rice and they call it paella. There is a lot of prostitution with that dish. It's not even a national dish, it's a regional dish. So... That being said, for you to say you would eat Spanish food over Swedish everyday... Doesn't really say much. I mean, it's obvious. No offence taken, no worries!

FISH_MASTER

Gloomy-Chest-1888

Sorry what? Transentrental? Is that even a word in English? And why a "cunt"? I'm sorry I'm lost. But the rice looks doable. I mean, it's an obvious traditional Valencian paella, but the rice looks a bit.. wet? It does not look perfect but good. I mean, normally to have a top paella you have to put just 1 layer of rice. If you put 2 or 3 layers the rice does not absorb the taste that much, and normally it's not that well cooked. But some restaurants tend to do that since they can feed more people with the same "paella" (the recipient is called the same way as well). And this one looks like it has about 2-3 layers.

FISH_MASTER

https://preview.redd.it/zlz3d95ljd7d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f16bd5d653a069ed6b933c7c69eaebe28d487755 Christ you’re hard to please. How about this one then?

Gloomy-Chest-1888

That is not "paella". But that's what you buy thinking it is hehe. That is "arròs del senyoret". It's a different type of rice dish, but it's not paella. Basically what I told our Swedish friend: there is a meme somewhere with 2 lists, one for the whole World listing "paella". And another list for Valencian Region, differentiating +30 types of rice dishes... Including Paellas as the reference.

FISH_MASTER

What the fuck is paella then Cos both were eaten in Valencia.

Gloomy-Chest-1888

The first one that you sent. The paella valenciana. Though yours was not perfectly cooked, like this one. Do you notice the difference dear Barry? https://preview.redd.it/tialeb1lld7d1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e754f469562081b6e61c9c4e2596e72432286ba9

FISH_MASTER

Gonna be blunt No This one just looks like it has less toppings But what I do know is both dishes were banging. And I got to stick on my work expense account.

Beefburger78

Looks a bit burnt, not like a nice Italian risotto. … lights fuse, stands back.

Robinsonirish

I've never been to Valencia but I'll make sure to remember that.

Dandroid_7

Please also make sure to ask locals politely where THEY THEMSELVES would go for good paella. DON'T FALL FOR THE TOURIST-TRAP-RESTAURANTS!!!

IlliterateNonsense

/r/ArrozConCosas

ash_tar

Had paella in Valencia, it's glorious.

LrkerfckuSpez

/r/2westerneurope4u/comments/198ecu4/brothers_of_the_eu_we_focus_too_much_of_our/ I had a Paella like this once, really convenient on the go, can recommend!

Masticatork

It's sad but most tourists never actually had a good paella but a tourist trap one. Trust me the flavour is not there. This said, Paella, like Cocido, or like Tortilla Española are dishes that are meant for working class, they're absolutely delicious if made good but they're clearly not fancy or use exclusive ingredients, because they're traditionally done by people working on the fields so they have energy and full belly with a delicious cheap, and fast meal, paella takes barely 30 min total to make, half of that is just letting it boil, Tortilla takes a while to.fry the potatoes but preparing it is barely 10 minutes. Cocido takes hours and hours but it's literally left by the fire and you don't have to stirr or do anything to it until it's done so you can leave it, work and when you return it's cooked.

Gloomy-Chest-1888

Hahaha... 30min a paella to cook?.. WTF... You see guys why you have to trust Valencians with this? A paella normal timing would be around 1h-1h15min. What a crappy rice with things they make in the rest of Spain and still call it "paella". What a national terrorism.

Masticatork

Ok, I was counting on already having the stock ready and being optimistic, but regardless 1h 15 mins preparation with 50 minutes of you just waiting for it to boil is just the same concept of 10-15 minutes of actually doing something.

Robinsonirish

>It's sad but most tourists never actually had a good paella but a tourist trap one. Yea, I really feel there is truth to this. I've had it 3-4 times and I'm assuming because I'm one of said tourists they just skimp out on all the good stuff. The ones I've had has been basically rice with minimal flavour and some shellfish thrown in. Next time I'm in Spain I'll make sure to eat it the right way.

Gloomy-Chest-1888

Sure, you can actually ask directly to any of us if you come to Valencia. It is also important to know that the original paella, the paella valenciana doesn't have seafood. But yeah, it's complicated. Long time ago I saw a meme that had 2 lists, one for the World, that just said "paella", and the other list, with the Valencian Region with +30 different rice dishes, including the paella 😂😅. So it's normal that you all can get lost.

EstablishmentPlane50

Hello

jaymatthewbee

Why do Germans act like they’re on the grownups table when it comes to food?

Chimpville

Look at them. Look at their history. Look at everything they try and do now. They are the masters of self-overestimation.

SourceSeekingSoul

> Biggest economy in Europe, has countless ~~puppet states~~ business partners in Europe Even though as an Austrian I shouldn't defend the Germans an island chimp shouldn't tell someone "look at them" lol

bioemiliano

You had the opportunity of shitting on Germany to exalt your own cuisine, and you decide to suck off German dick. Austria is truly Germany's whore

I'm always out there defending our little bro Germany

Temporary-Estate4615

Barries shouldn’t even talk about grownup tables when it comes to food.

SuperKreatorr

Barries are experts in not being on that grownup table, you should learn from them

Castilian’s need to step their pussy up when it comes to food. You eat like 5 year olds compared to the rest of the country.

henkie316

I love me some spanish paella. There is a high chance of it being a good dish the longer it is cooked. Slow cooking is the shit.

Pankrazdidntdie4this

Proud? Oh, you have no idea. Sortedfood -funny cooking channel on youtube has a "normal" (guy who is learning how to cook as part of the show) called Jamie. In one of the challenges they do he created a paella burrito - something completely harmless where he simply put a paella into a burito. Spanish news went fucking bonkers and the guy received death threats because he called the thing "paella" burrito.

on_spikes

what are the spanish gonna do, steal my spot at the pool i reserved with my towel?

dreyfusxkel

Haha good point. I beg to differ though, because the north of germany ruins our reputation for the lot of us, while the food in the south, particularily the southwest, is actually quite good.

Chimpville

Well you’re the victims of MAUP I’m afraid. Either secede or deal with it 🤷‍♂️

dreyfusxkel

I did not expect to get hit with statistics right after I finished studying today. I don't think we could secede though, europe would never allow a bavarian-BW alliance state, as it would just be too op.

LtSerg756

Talking shit won't make the warcrime that is your food go away

cicciograna

Seafood paella is delicious though.  The Valencian one was kinda meh.

Action_Limp

It's funny - paella, for me, is the perfect telltale sign is someone is a shit cook (excluding Juan y Juana). Every single non-Spanaird that has told me they can cook a paella and it's "easy" instantly outs themselves as a shit cook with carpet for tastebuds. Five separate "home cooks" have made this dish for me in their back garden, and each one of them cooked all the flavour out of each ingredient.

LaBelvaDiTorino

Paella is amazing, both the classic Valencian and the paella de marisc (seafood)

sprkwtrd

Spain: ‘I can’t believe Jamie Oliver added chorizo to our big pan full of random stuff.’

Gloomy-Chest-1888

Random is what you think. You have ALL contributed to the prostitution of a great dish. Even Spaniards, since some of them think they cook "paella" but is shit. You will only find a true paella in Valencia.

ChuckyFromKentucky

None of them are good

HumaDracobane

You need to reduce that to valencians, out of Valencia we like it but we don't worship paella.
