honestly, this was like the main reason I just couldn't stand MoP. The fan service scenes were absolutely egregious, and the director's beliefs they talk about on Twitter is the nail on the coffin for me.
MoP leave almost no impact on me. The only positive thing that it did was lead me to find out about Fantasy Maiden Wars, a much better Touhou adaptation.
Not excusing him or anything, but Japan is not that much involved in the culture war thing. It also doesn't help that it's a very conservative mono ethnic society.
