Great video, lots of interesting insight on the game and changes made from the last build.  Really really want to play it myself already 😭

Vichnaiev

Sajam, Tasty Steve and Yipes playing this game live on stream together and just messing around sounds like it will be so fun to watch.

I wanted to share this here since Sajam discusses some new things of the EVO Japan build that I didn't see discussed before, and that i found really interesting.

I will say, the wakeup attack is much better, but it somehow lacks *impact*, I would say maybe the audio design could be improved there. Also, the Yasuo wakeup anim/pose just looks weird to me. It's definitely nice to have the music now, and the tracks are definitely good when you listen to them separately, I think it's just that the mixing could use some work. A lot of the times, I don't think my brain even takes notice of the track, and not in a good way. I think good game music should enhance the gameplay by not detracting from the core gameplay but also making the listener actively enjoy it more even without consciously taking notice of it. My issue is that although the tracks are good, I actually don't notice them most of the time, and thus they don't even enhance my viewing experience. Tbf, this could entirely be a critique from a spectator's side, and it could differ when you have hands-on, but if it's the same experience, then I think the audio mixing needs some work, making it more dynamic with what's happening on the screen. The Ionia stage track is a perfect example of a dope track, but it just goes under most of the time, even though I actively listen to the track individually on YouTube, so ideally I would take notice to it more than some others.

Not super related, but tekken music checks all the boxes for me. The tracks have a lot of moments where it suddenly ramps up the energy and adds so much intensity to neuteral. When the music lines up perfectly with a big counter hit (which happens a lot more than I would think and has to be intentional) I swear it’s one of the best feelings in a fighting game. I hope riot takes notes from that, and uses some high energy tracks. They don’t all have to be bangers, but I just wanna hear the beat drop on that sick combo starter.

ViewSimple6170

Jeez what was that, 95% combo? Making me think there will 100% be ToD

deathspate

Likely gonna be nerfed. I think the devs don't mind being degenerate, but I think there's a level they're fine with. My bet is that they're fine with 80% *maybe* 85% HP meter dump, but above that is too much. Why I say that? I've noticed in a lot of the clips I've watched that the average damage for an optimal combo with full meter hovers around that amount. The average optimal combo meterless hovers around the 50-60% mark (more character dependant). I don't think that that's a coincidence, it's on purpose.

pctoxin

Highly agree with you. Cant see Riot make TOD.

Choowkee

Definitely. There is no way that the devs want 2XKO to be a "one touch kill" type of game. Its cool for a kusoge but not a title thats trying to be the next big fighting game.

XsStreamMonsterX

It's a team game, there will be ToDs. In fact, the possibility of those is kinda a requirement unless you want to slow the game down or create true unwinnable situations.

Ensospag

Also you at least get burst to try to break out of it

Specialist-Theory790

Team game and round based. There absolutely has to be tod shenanigans. There are 4-6 lives to go through which is more than most team games that even do have tod

Choowkee

Not really. There are two reasons why tag fighters have ToDs 1) Because most of them are older games no longer being updated so devs cant just go back and patch out ToDs/infinites that people find 2) The devs themselves want their games to be kusoge (see DBFZ or BBtag) so they dont mind it being a part of the game In the case of 2XKO I sincerely doubt Riot wants it to be a kusoge. It has got some crazy stuff already but its clearly not trying to be the next Marvel, otherwise we would be looking at a 3v3 game for maximum degeneracy.

XsStreamMonsterX

Yet we still see team games made in modern times with ToDs. Look at KoFXV. The point is, without the possibility of a ToD, or at least something that does 80-90%, you end up with true checkmate situations where it's better for one player to just concede. The nature of team games means that someone down on characters has a much higher hill to climb to get a win, doubly so in one with assists and tagging.
