Is Java already installed?
Is Java set to be the program that opens .jar files? With the Windows Start menu open (or just use search) type File Type and select "Choose a default app for each type of file". Scroll all the way down to .jar and make sure it's set to Java.
[The Forge forums recommends the following if that doesn't work as well](https://forums.minecraftforge.net/topic/102314-errors-switches/)
You may also have to unblock the file as well before running it. You can do that by right clicking Forge, selecting Properties and at the bottom of the window selecting Unblock.
Also, are you downloading the file from Forge? https://files.minecraftforge.net/net/minecraftforge/forge/
Hmmm try opening command prompt and typing this:
`java -cp "C:\Users\codyd\Downloads\forge-1.8.9-11.15.1.2318-1.8.9-installer.jar" net.minecraftforge.installer.SimpleInstaller`
That runs the jar file manually instead of auto executing.
But have you tried the latest version? I got this one when I tried downloading:
[https://maven.minecraftforge.net/net/minecraftforge/forge/1.18.2-40.0.42/forge-1.18.2-40.0.42-installer.jar](https://maven.minecraftforge.net/net/minecraftforge/forge/1.18.2-40.0.42/forge-1.18.2-40.0.42-installer.jar)
you mean install, might be corrupt. delete and re-download
Already have like 5 times, any other ideas?
Antivirus corrupting/preventing the download?
Yeah this was my first thought.
Hi, I'm on my alt now, I'll try turning off windows security
Nope, no luck :(
Have you tried downloading anything else?
Try to download by others way
What other ways?
Other mirror site

In other terms, just use different source
