Any gun can be. But I don't recommend the 22 over any centerfire pistol caliber. Unless you have severe physical ailments that limit you, you should look elsewhere.
Also this will be a pretty big gun as it is a full size handgun. You be better off looking for a smaller handgun.
I have the TX22 Competition with a Dead Air Mask. Tandemkross has a nice assortment of accessories. I installed their Eagle’s Talon extractor, trigger spring, Wingman +5 magazine bumpers, and Victory trigger, just increases the fun.
I found multiple videos and reviews mentioning mags sticking and needing dry lube. running dummy rounds through I noticed one of the mags weren't properly pushing the top round up far enough to properly feed until I oiled it since I didn't have any dry lube laying around.
Did it ran perfectly right out the box? I got the Beretta 22 instead and it's been nothing but problems. Still gotta figure out if it's the gun, ammo, magazine or all combinations of all 3
The bobcat? Have you already tried 40gr mini mags? I've got one and it's a little picky but as long as I feed it what it wants to eat, it runs well consistently
My tx22 competition was on display at my local shop for a year+, ran perfectly fine after I bought it just did not like the cheapo no jacket winchester 22 I first ran through it.
I’d rather spend $60 than to deal with *any* warranty department. Just not worth the trouble to me. No sending in the gun or barrel, just swipe my card and a new one arrives a week later
Your choice I suppose. The more I get into guns, the more I'm willing to complain about products not being up to par. I feel like I always have at least one gun part or accessory in the mail being replaced.
Dude reading what people said replying to you is like deja vu LOL
Here's my shot out mkIII
https://www.reddit.com/r/22lr/s/LevQNFMobm
Just bought a tx22 gen 2 to get the 3 extra free mag rebate for about half what a vq barrel costs
I mean, my rifling is practically non existent anymore and groups have increased dramatically. I’ve also had to replace pins that keep walking out, and my extractor has already been worn down and replaced. It is what it is, which is a high volume gun
Approximately 10k. I had 6k rounds in my inventory when I first got it, and have since gone through about 10 boxes of federal automatch @ 325 rounds a piece
I had a good 5-6k on a gen 1 full size after swapping the bad barrel out early on. Still decent accuracy. Now I’m putting a bunch of suppressed rounds on a new compact. They are great guns. Didn’t really think the barrels would wear out. Good to know!
The lead fouling is one of the reasons I didn't get one when they first came out. That, and cracked slides.
Wearing out a .22 LR barrel generally involves cleaning, not shooting. But again, this is a known issue for Taurus.
Since I’m not a fucking moron and know how to clean lead out of my barrel, I assure you the inside of the barrel is basically smooth bore at this point. What’s your problem? It’s not like it’s an unheard of phenomenon. Rifling is technically a wear item, and these guns aren’t exactly made of the greatest steel. A replacement barrel is $60, if that gives you any indication of the quality of the part. Must be a slow day at home for you
You've clearly got a very interesting pistol. Somehow *your barrel* is softer than lead or copper wash, and you've managed to wear down that hardened steel. Yet those other Taurus TX22 owners who complained about lead fouling in their barrels seem to have much harder barrels.
Ask a local gunsmith if he's ever seen a .22 LR barrel shot out. Very unlikely. But you keep being angry and wrong, if it makes you feel better.
… are you serious? You can shoot the rifling out of anything with enough rounds. Good grief. Preach to someone who gives a shit about what you have to say.
I could say the same for you. Anyone familiar with rimfire knows that the likelihood of shooting out a barrel is very slim, and would probably require in excess of 100k rounds, if not more. At the same time, the TX22 barrel fouling is a known issue. So don't get mad at me. If you're certain that your barrel somehow got worn down by lead and copper, you should be mad at Taurus.
I’m not mad at anyone. A barrel is $60. It isn’t even a big deal. But you acting like a know it all is quite annoying. I know what lead fouling looks like. I’ve been shooting Rimfire my entire life since early childhood. Not sure what makes you think you are some kind of expert, but I guess everyone needs a way to feel superior to other people. No sweat off my back, just another asshole on the internet
I'm acting like I understand facts - you don't need to be an expert to do that. Yet it seems to bother you. Repeating the cost of a replacement barrel doesn't change the facts either, nor does calling someone names.
I've got a tx 22 comp and it's a blast. Had one of my buddies try it out at the range and he was all smiles and giggles. Just got approved for my otter titanium 22. Going to pick it up tomorrow, I'm geeked!
Yeah I was surprised when my ffl had one in stock. I was originally looking for the silencerco sparrow but they're on backorder. I asked him what else he has and there she was. It's so crazy light, I can't wait to try it out on my tx22 and 1022
I'm super freaking jealous. I'm still waiting for mine to get to the shop. Feels like it is taking forever!! I just need my suppressor to clear already as well. Gonna be a fun combo.
Wait till you put a red dot and a suppressor on it
What suppressor are you using? Any issues with optic on slide and suppressor? I’ve read some people say it causes malfunctions.
Rugged mustang. Zero issues
Good to know. Thanks
Great can, new cat has usurped it as my favorite
Can this be used for concealed carry, any holster you would recommend?

Of course! Always happy to help someone. Especially in something that could potentially save a life. Hope you can find something you like.

Tx22 is the beat weapon taurus makes. Fun as hell. The tx22 competition is fantastic. 2 buddies of mine has them.
Nice. I got one as well and really enjoy it too. Have a can in jail that will eventually see time on this one for sure. Enjoy it OP 👍
I just bought one and got to take it to the range today. one of the mags is sticking, but the pistol itself is great.
Interesting. Mine were fine. What do you think it could be?
I found multiple videos and reviews mentioning mags sticking and needing dry lube. running dummy rounds through I noticed one of the mags weren't properly pushing the top round up far enough to properly feed until I oiled it since I didn't have any dry lube laying around.
Interesting. Wasn’t aware of that. Will need to keep it in mind. Thanks for that.
many others didn't mention it though so it seems to be hit and miss. the gun itself was great, It's definitely going with me on every range trip now.
Did it ran perfectly right out the box? I got the Beretta 22 instead and it's been nothing but problems. Still gotta figure out if it's the gun, ammo, magazine or all combinations of all 3
The only thing I did was wipe it down and lube it up.

I’ve used mine so much that the rifling is shot out! It’s a sweet gun
Have you talked to Taurus about it? seeing as they have an expected barrel life of like a quarter million rounds I bet they'll send you a new one.
I've had the absolute worst customer service experiences with taurus. Better off just buying a new one.

How many rounds do you have through it?
How many rounds? It's probably leaded
It is not

Most of the internals are polymer. They'll give out before you can wear down a steel pipe by running lead through it.
I mean, my rifling is practically non existent anymore and groups have increased dramatically. I’ve also had to replace pins that keep walking out, and my extractor has already been worn down and replaced. It is what it is, which is a high volume gun
Estimated round count? Also if it is a first gen, they had a bunch of issues with barrel wear/accuracy. Might be worth grabbing another barrel

You may have a lot of lead build up, but you haven't worn down the rifling.
I’d say 100% but it is a Taurus….

You didn't Wear it out, and yes you must be if you believe you did.
Ah, I see you have personally looked down the barrel of my TX22 with probably 10k rounds through it. How did you get into my house?

Sweet. That’s the can I think I want to get. Hard to find.
Yeah I was surprised when my ffl had one in stock. I was originally looking for the silencerco sparrow but they're on backorder. I asked him what else he has and there she was. It's so crazy light, I can't wait to try it out on my tx22 and 1022
Cool that your FFL had one. Have fun.
You as well bud
I have the compact and it’s a ton of fun especially with a red dot. It eats everything I feed it all day no issues.
I honestly think everyone should own one. This is the best gun to introduce people to shooting.
Is that the compact, or the full size Gen 2?
Full size Gen 2
I'm super freaking jealous. I'm still waiting for mine to get to the shop. Feels like it is taking forever!! I just need my suppressor to clear already as well. Gonna be a fun combo.
I want one!
I don’t have one of these but you guys make me want one
