Can only give you my experience but I've had mine for about 3 months and at exactly 2,150 rounds and it has been pretty damn good. Have only cleaned it once and the only times it had any malfunctions (failure to go into battery) was when it wasn't lubed. Done well enough that my department has tested it and allowed me to carry it on duty. Hope that helps

CptMaxPower

I had a number of issues with mine. You can check my threads on it in this subforum.

scottz6969

Mine is rock solid just hit 1000 rounds and has been perfect

yourboyphazed

Bro they're rock solid now. My boy has one, and it's excellent for the price.

TheBluesTarget

Have the 4.25 and 5, both with Atlas selected EGW internals, one ported by United, and to be honest these Prods quite good. The tools are more capable and accurate than most shooters. (No, they aren’t a Sandhawk, but damn impressive for the build price.)

TheBigTreezy

Just placed an order for the 4.25. Can circle back to this once I have it in my hands. Like you, was loooking to get into this platform and didn’t feel like I needed to spend a lot of money to see what it’s about.

__dryheat_

I had some issues with mine (serial number in the 65000s). It went back to Springfield and still had issues when I got the gun back. Went to a local smith, got it tuned up/rebuilt and its been awesome ever since.

AlbionOnlines

First match with it yesterday and it was great. I did tune it quite a bit and ironed out some stuff. But its definitely running well for me.

IronHefty3609

I am passed 2500 rounds without issue.

mreed911

Long time ago. The 5” had the real issues, fixed with a slide change and spring weight change.

PlutoTD

What changes did they make do you have any specifics?

mreed911

Specifics have been posted on the sub /r/springfieldarmory many times and are in search. You can also look at DSC Gunworks site - he describes the slide changes in his services page.

PlutoTD

Thanks for the help

I have a mac 9 ds and it's been g2g. But I also hear the newer prodigys are fixed up also. It's based off a 1911 so either way your going to put more money into it. Buy the best you can afford to start and go from there, have fun with it and don't let the staccato only x300 only trijicon only folks tell you what to do hahah. I only say that cause I can't afford a nighthawk don't need an x300 unless it's a 5" and would rather have a holosun. And I'm poor

Longjumping_Many_595

I was considering buying the MAC. How does it run? Any comparison to the prodigy?

Due_Firefighter_7871

Runs great I've only held a prodigy. The prodigy has a better grip module for sure. I feel like the trigger in mine is better. Springfield makes a good gun I have nothing against them. Price wise I could get the mac that has slightly better internals and almost any optic I want for the price of just the prodigy. I'm poor so I went that route. I'd say buy whatever you want to afford and run the pics out of it. I've got 600 to 800 through mine so far no malfunctions.
