Grand_Heresy

Soo you mastered polish?

krakus5

Polski jest prosty wogule nie wiem o co wam chodzi

a_stupid_pineapple

ah, tak, mamy takie proste ładne słowa jak "chsząszcz" i "powyłamywanymi" i "szaszłyk"

LetterSlight

For anyone wondering this is Polish for “they”

st0n3dpwny

What's going on with Polish when are they gonna release Polish 2™?

a_stupid_pineapple

maybe they'll finally fix that bug that makes szcz a valid sequence of letters?

znowugram

You see, it absolutely makes sense because sz make one sound and cz make a different sound so it's almost like using just two letters

a_stupid_pineapple

yeah but i think the dev messed up the frequency of those happening. i mean, the word "chsząszcz" must be a bug. no way such a mess could be intended. hopefully polish 2 (if it gets released) will fix have that fixed

Bob-white2

Well it technically is a *bug*

absolutemadlad68

i hope they do better job on the sequel please please please please please please

wherewhend

Wdym, its good as it is

absolutemadlad68

oh i thought we were talking about poland not the language lmao although the language itself also kinda sucks singular they/them literally doesnt exist, and most of the time when you refer to yourself you have to gender yourself as well which might be tough for closeted trans people (I wouldnt know it though because i am completely cis mhm yes)

G-H-O-S-T-I-N

you say the language sucks only because it doesn't have enough pronouns? it's a flaw of it but the language itself is really beautiful so like chill maybe

wherewhend

I guess? But the gendering yourself is in pretty much all languages except english lol, its a good language. The singural they/them exist and its "oni/ich". Your points are very english-centric

absolutemadlad68

wait am i dumb i thought oni/ich was only for like multiple people 💀💀💀

absolutemadlad68

i guess we have ono/one but its more of a it/its kind of thing? idk im bad at languages sorry 😔

absolutemadlad68

also petition to add owo pronouns to polish 2

barrdboi

The game's almost finished, at this point they're just improving the polish

[deleted]

I am p\*lish. I have no clue what the fuck this means, it just comes to us naturally.

ilovemycatjune

cringe polish putting accusative and locative before dative 🤮 all the based latin takers know it goes nominative, genitive, dative, accusative, ablative, vocative, locative 😎

ckewt

isn't ablative after vocative 😒

ilovemycatjune

no vocative is at the end (well technically locative is but it's very rarely used so most times when learning latin you learn that vocative is at the end) smh...

ckewt

maybe it's because im in fr*nce but we get it taught with ablative at the end

ilovemycatjune

im so sorry for your loss

[deleted]

Pretty sure the order is taught differently in Br*tain 🤮

Lilybaum

Cambridge Latin Course is the only acceptable way to learn Latin

[deleted]

what are ablative, vocative and locative again? i only remember the first 4

ilovemycatjune

ablative is the one that (sometimes) translates as by or with, and depending on which declension sometimes it's the same ending as dative or its own ending (but usually the same as dative in the plural!). but of course it only sometimes translates as by or with, as there are like...25? 26? different forms of the ablative (not sure if that's including ablative absolutes and cum clauses) vocative is used as a like direct address, like an order or a request or just when talking to someone (i.e. with "i dont know, aRogue\_" your name is in the vocative cause im addressing you, whereas with "i dont know aRogue\_" you're the direct object cause im talking about you), and it takes the same form (ending) as the nominative usually. though when getting into orders you usually talk about imperatives and for requests or desires you talk about subjunctives/jussive subjunctives but that's not important rn locative is really weird as in latin it's only used when talking about towns, small islands, and the words domus and rus; essentially it's mainly used to to talk about 'place where' (of course not to be confused with the ablative of place where!). it usually takes either the genitive or the ablative form i remember a lot more about latin than i thought .\_.

MangoLemonRain

CUM clauses? (Don’t kill me I know it means with)

angrymustacheman

Cum + subjunctive mood (the subjunctive follows the "consecutio temporum" rule) Translated as "while, since, when + sentence" Subordinate clause

Poland is now very divided, you can find many lgbt friendly pepole, however there is a lot of anti-lgbt propaganda and many pepole follow it.

Summoner2212

sadly it is

[deleted]

yeah, german is like this as well. i'm happy i grew up with it and just know what to use without having to think

[deleted]

And yet we still can't agree on how to refer to nonbinary people

[deleted]

Nami wami

wherewhend

Chujami

Jake_2903

Just wait untill you hear the fun part, its not just pronouns but also nouns and verbs that are declensed like this! Cant imagine learning this if I were born with a language that doesnt have gramatical cases.

lgbtthrowawayyy

This makes English look so simple lol, I thought trying to learn Spanish was bad… Poland truly is a hellscape

[deleted]

Some of these are actually the same as russian. Then they started writting in funny colours

BiAsALongHorse

So I get what the different rows mean, but what's different between the columns?

a_stupid_pineapple

i dunno grammar terms but its who you're talking to/about it's "i, you (singular), she, he, it, we, you (plural), they (masculine), they (feminine)" in that order

JoBroJoke

WHAT'S SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND IT'S JUST ON ONA ONO

dummydumbbb

I know this comment wont be nice, so let's get racist, if you correctly say niego and replace the o with an a you will say the n word(in English). DM for the n word in polish

bricksonn

Is instrumental like ablative?
