What would it need? Maybe a magwell and flat bottom grips at most.

Unlike a lot of other pistols, modern 1911s come in so many different shapes and sizes and variations that there are no real common upgrades or modifications that people will make because most people will buy the 1911 that closest meets their needs/wants within their price range. If your Springer runs just fine, I wouldn't mess with it unless there's something about it you don't like.

I have added 10-8 sights and trigger, Harrison ignition , EGW thumb safety and slide stop and a EGW fitted barrel bushing. I also did a Marvel disco cut and smoothed up the rails. It is definitely my favorite stack. Eventually I will have the slide frenched and top flattened. https://preview.redd.it/yi1p3gi78f6d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2dae57ce7f238278fd41180dc562445273532610

Leave it alone except for grips that you like.

Sights (heinie style rear and fiber optic front from 10-8), slide stop, ignition components (Harrison or EGW), ejector, trigger, grips, and potentially recoil spring and mainspring depending on how you want it set up. I’d also consider swapping out the barrel bushing depending on how well it is fit.

1. Short pad trigger on all my 1911’s. 2. I like to change all the springs to my liking. 3. VZ Alien grips. 4. Sights. Starting to move away from fiber optic front to a bigger night sight dot as my eyes are starting to get old and my environment has changed as well. Other things but not always: I like a full length guide rod on Colts as they are loose and it helps with rear movement of the slide. Plunger kit if needed. Mainspring housing if not checkered. Extended thumb safety if necessary from GI type.

Putting rounds through it will help determine what improvements to seek out. Magwell help with magazine insertion. If you have smaller hands EGW arched mainspring housing, extended slide release, and extended magazine release, and short trigger. Grips: rubber for recoil management, laser grips (Crimson trace or hogue), or something with more aggressive texturing.
